Suriya’s ‘Sodakku’ song from ‘Thaana Serntha Kootam' in trouble
EntertainmentAn Aiadmk office bearer has lodged a complaint with the CoP, seeking changes in the lyrics, which he deems offensive. Digital NativeDigital NativeFollowing the widespread furore over inclusion of Gst-related dialogues in the Vijay starrer Mersal, yet another film has got mired in controversy. The song Sodakku mela Sodakku, from Suriya's upcoming film, Thaanaa Serndhan Koottam, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, is in trouble. An Aiadmk office bearer Sathish Kumar, has lodged a complaint with the Commissioner of Police seeking changes in the lyrics, which he claims are offensive and anti-political. Talking about the issue, Rj Balaji who is also a part of the star cast tweeted saying: "Respected Media partner, Thanks but no thanks.Tsk has marketing budget for the promotions. But thre are too many issues out thre. People are unable to commute. Kindly do something about it. Instead of doing this, ask ur partymen to at least offer lift to people who r stranded." Unlike his Singam avatar where he sported a handlebar moustache, Suriya will be seen in a clean-shaven look in Thaana Serntha Kootam. He will be seen in two different looks in the film, where he has decided to try his hands at comedy after a long time and this shift from regular action films might work in his favour. The film boasts an ensemble cast of actors, including Keerthy Suresh, Ramya Krishnan, Karthik, Senthil, Sathyan, Kalaiyarasan and choreographer Shivashankar, playing pivotal characters. After being on the floors for nearly a year, the film is scheduled for a Pongal. It’ll be an interesting box-office battle as the film will take Vikram’s Sketch and Prabhudheva’s Gulebakavali along with four other films head-on at the box-office for the festive occasion. The film’s dubbed version in Telugu, will have a simultaneous release. Music for the film has been scored by Anirudh Ravichander and it is bankrolled by Studio Green production banner, on a budget of Rs. 90 crores.

Suriya’s 'Tsk' not a scene by scene remake of 'Special 26', director clarifies
EntertainmentOnly the core theme of the film has been retained while the rest has been changed to suit the nativity of the audiences, the director said. Digital Native thaana-serndha-koottam.jpgDigital NativeThere have been reports doing the rounds that the Suriya starrer Thaana Serntha Kootam is the remake of the Bollywood blockbuster hit movie Special 26. However, the film is not being promoted as the remake which was creating a confusion among the film buffs. Well, its director Vignesh Shivan has put an end to all the rumours with a clarification. While agreeing that the producers of Tsk had bought the remake rights of Special 26, the director revealed that it is not an exact remake. Only the core theme of the film has been retained while the rest has been changed to suit the nativity of the audiences, he is reported to have said during a recent media interaction.  Reports indicate that the producers of Tsk had purchased the remake rights to do away with the legal issues should they arise in the future and that is the reason behind the team not promoting it as a remake. Interestingly, Tsk will be released in both Tamil as well as Telugu simultaneously on January 12 for Sankaranthi next year. The film is produced by Ke Gnanavelraja under his banner Studio Green. The Telugu version is titled as Gang. Starring Suriya and Keerthy Suresh as the lead pair, the film has veteran actor Karthik in a pivotal role. Director Vignesh Shivan is very particular of not repeating his supporting cast, and has gone for a fresh cast. It also has Suresh Chandra Menon, Sudhakar, Ramya Krishnan, Senthil, Sathyan, Shivashankar, Kalaiyarasan, Nandha, Rj Balaji, Anandaraj and Brahmanandam in the star cast. Anirudh has composed the tunes for this flick with Dinesh Krishnan being the cinematographer and Sreekar Prasad editing it. It may be mentioned that Special 26, a period heist crime thriller, was directed by Neeraj Pandey and starred Manoj Bajpayee, Anupam Kher, Kajal Aggarwal, in the lead roles. It hit the screens in 2013. Enanble Notification: NoTNM Marquee: No...
