Himani Shivpuri is a veteran Indian actress, widely respected for her versatile and impactful performances across Hindi cinema and television. Born in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, she completed her early education at The Doon School and D.A.V. College, later earning a degree in Organic Chemistry. Deeply inspired by her father, a Hindi teacher and poet known by the pen name Shailesh, she developed a passion for dramatics from an early age. She went on to receive formal training from the National School of Drama (NSD), graduating in 1982.
Shivpuri began her professional journey with theatre, where her expressive performances quickly drew attention. She made her film debut with Ab Ayega Mazaa (1984) and soon became known for her powerful presence in both parallel and commercial cinema.
