Honoka Inoue , known as Xiaomei in Edens Zero and Kotone Kazairo in RPG Real Estate , is cast as the title character, Anne Shirley. "I've loved the world of 'Anne of Green Gables' since I was a child, so I thought, 'I definitely wanted to play Anne!' from the audition," said Inoue. "But I never thought it would happen! Anne Shirley is coming back.

In the overcrowded TV landscape, it’s easy to fall behind on even favorite shows. This past spring has been particularly overcrowded with must-see series jockeying for awards attention.

But now that the official season has come to a close, that gives some breathing room to check out other series that premiered over the past season. For one reason or another, these shows may have been overlooked or maybe started off on the wrong foot and lost viewers’ attention. It happens. Even TV critics haven’t gotten around to watching some of the best shows due to time constraints and Peak TV.

Imaginary Forces creative director Alan Williams, whose company earned lauds for its minimalist title design for “Stranger Things,” reached out to Netflix again when he learned that the streaming service was adapting the novel into a series, “Anne with an E.” Like many, Williams grew up captivated by Anne Shirley, the heroine from author Lucy Maud Montgomery’s book “Anne of Green Gables. The lonely orphan had an indomitable spirit, wild imagination, and affinity for the natural world that she brought with her to Green Gables, where she finally found a home.

Once Netflix decided to change the title of its “Anne of Green Gables” reboot from plain old “Anne” (ugh!) to “Anne with an E,” it proved itself to be a true “kindred spirit” to the poor literary orphan girl.

The beloved character from Lucy Maud Montgomery’s Canadian children’s novel “Anne of Green Gables,” on which the series is based, insists upon that particular spelling of her name because of its elegance. That insistence is also indicative of Anne Shirley’s boisterous personality, which demands that she be heard, that people pay attention, that she is special. Films complete the Anne of Green Gables trilogy

Following the success of PBS’ Thanksgiving 2016 Us primetime premiere of L.M. Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables, Canadian studio Breakthrough Entertainment hsa revealed a new deal with the broadcaster which will bring the second and third installments of the trilogy, The Good Stars and Fire & Dew, to audiences in the United States.

Based on Montgomery’s classic novel, Anne of Green Gables the trilogy tells the story of Anne Shirley, a precocious little girl taken from an orphanage and placed in the care of the uptight Marilla Cuthbert and her brother Matthew. Martin Sheen, Ella Ballentine and Sara Botsford appear in all three films.

In The Good Stars, written and directed by John Kent Harrison, Anne Shirley turns thirteen and faces complex issues with her friends, learns from inspirational adults and experiences an escalating friendship with Gilbert.
