Yousef Azami escaped the oppressive culture of the Taliban in Afghanistan and made his way to America and became an actor. His early life of suffering and living in peril enabled him to bring great authenticity and emotion to his roles. "Chookie" refers to his life and career in America as a "blessing from God" and he hopes his work in film can show the world the suffering of the Afghan people.
