Fade In spotlight on 'Gone'
With their horror script "Gone", comic-book writer Brian Pulido and New York Times best-selling author Michael Stackpole took the grand prize at Fade In Magazine's 10th annual Fade In Awards.
The awards aim to help new writers and directors get recognized within the Hollywood film community, and the duo's screenplay, about a young couple on a weekend vacation in the desert who get marooned miles from civilization and stalked by a super-pack of vicious wolves, will be shopped to agents this month.
About 1,800 entrants competed in seven categories and two formats to win. Finalists included: Michael J. Yurinko for "For the Love of Jade" (drama category); John Accursi for "One Last Fling", Craig Berger for "Murder Girls" and Anton A. Hill for "The Bad Brother" (comedy): Betsy Morris for "Untapped" (action); James Rothenberg for "The Last Resort", Daren Shippy for "Unfaithful Justice" and Moutaz Jad for "Elysium" (thriller); Jennifer Brasher for "Daddy's Girl" (noir); Douglas Stark for "Do Not Disturb" and Howard Kingkade for "Hole in the Paper Sky" (shorts); and Donna Silverberg and Bradley Fisher for "Palm Springs by the Sea", Livia Linden and Percy Angress for "Sky Baby" and James Hereth for "Charlie Supposedly Saves the World" (family).
