Talk about the ultimate comeback! HBO has officially given the greenlight to Michael Patrick King's acclaimed comedy series The Comeback, co-created by and starring Lisa Kudrow as washed-up sitcom star Valerie Cherish, for a third and final season. The surprise renewal announcement comes 20 years after the first season debuted in 2005, and 10 years after the second season, so now seems like the appropriate time for the cameras to start rolling again on the hit mockumentary. The new episodes are set to debut on HBO and HBO Max in 2026.
The third season of The Comeback was announced in a video (shared below) that would have given fans of the series cause for celebration, not only because the show is staging yet another comeback, but because Kudrow appears to be back on top form as her cult favorite character at the center of it all — and wouldn't she be ecstatic about that.

They say good things come in threes—and former “It” girl Valerie Cherish is determined to prove it. Lisa Kudrow posted a video today to announce the long-rumored third (and supposedly final) season of The Comeback, the “fictional reality show comedy hybrid” she created with Michael Patrick King. The announcement coincides with the 20th anniversary of the premiere of the series, which aired on HBO for two seasons in 2005 and 2014, respectively.
At the end of season two, Cherish learned that she’d won an Emmy award despite skipping out on the ceremony. Kudrow herself is an Emmy winner for her star-making role in Friends, but while she was nominated for both seasons of The Comeback, she never won for the series. Third time’s the charm?

Lisa Kudrow is stepping back into one of her most loved roles, and this time it’s official—HBO is bringing back “The Comeback” for a third season. The network confirmed the news after the show’s 20th anniversary on June 5.
Created by Kudrow and Michael Patrick King, the comedy series first came out in 2005. It was revived for a second season in 2014, and now, after more than a decade, it’s set to return again in 2026. HBO says this will be the “final season,” but considering how the show keeps coming back, that label might not really mean much.
Kudrow returns as Valerie Cherish, a former sitcom actress who’s always chasing her big moment. She’ll be joined by Dan Bucatinsky as her publicist, Laura Silverman as Jane, the producer behind the reality show inside the show, and Damian Young as her husband Mark.

After celebrating its 20th anniversary on June 5, the comedy series “The Comeback” is officially coming back for a third season on HBO. The show, co-created by Lisa Kudrow and Michael Patrick King, stars Kudrow as Valerie Cherish, a struggling actress trying to make a comeback.
Even though the announcement calls this the “final season,” fans might want to take that with a grain of salt. Since the show first aired in 2005, returned in 2014, and is now set to come back again in 2026 after starting production this summer, the idea of “final” doesn’t feel so final.
Lisa Kudrow will be back as Valerie, along with Dan Bucatinsky playing her publicist, Laura Silverman as Jane, the reality show producer, and Damian Young as Mark, Valerie’s husband. Lisa Kudrow is primarily known for her role as Phoebe Buffay in Friends. One year after the ten-season hit sitcom ended, the actress scored her own sitcom, The Comeback.
The satirical sitcom premiered on June 5, 2005, and aired for 13 episodes before it was canceled. Honoring its name, the comedy series returned after nine years with a new season of eight episodes, which aired from Nov. 9 to Dec. 28, 2014. Deadline reports Lisa Kudrow is now officially making a comeback, as the series The Comeback has been revived for a third and final season.
The series was created by Kudrow herself in collaboration with Sex and the City producer and director Michael Patrick King. Lisa Kudrow and HBO aren’t letting the Friends star’s cult comedy go without a proper goodbye, and so it is that The Comeback is getting revived for a third and final season. The series, created by Michael Patrick King and Lisa Kudrow, celebrated the 20th anniversary of its launch earlier this month, making today’s news monumental for fans. The revival speaks to the show’s lasting appeal, Kudrow’s endearing screen presence, and HBO’s desire to bring a familiar face back for more much-needed laughs.
The third and final season of The Comeback heads to production this summer for a 2026 HBO and HBO Max debut. In The Comeback, Lisa Kudrow plays Valerie Cherish, an ex-a-list celebrity attempting to rekindle the flame of her once prominent acting career with nothing but a camera crew and some determination.

Every 10 years, it looks as though Lisa Kudrow will stage a brand-new “Comeback.” Exactly 20 years after the beloved comedy series’ first season debuted in 2005, and 10 years after Season 2 in 2015, Kudrow officially is reprising her cult favorite role of Valerie Cherish for “The Comeback” Season 3.

Lisa Kudrow's The Comeback is making its comeback for a third season, 11 years after the last season premiered and 21 years after the ending of Friends. The Comeback follows Valerie Cherish (Kudrow), a former sitcom actor who gets a second big break a decade later, with the caveat that she has to star in a reality TV show at the same time. The series originally debuted in 2005, though The Comeback season 2 wasn't released until 2014. It was easily one of Lisa Kudrow's best performances and a great follow-up to the ending of Friends, and now The Comeback is back for more.
Now, Warner Bros. has confirmed that The Comeback season 3 will be released 11 years after season 2 ended. Lisa Kudrow will reprise her role as Valerie Cherish, and Dan Bucatinsky, Laura Silverman, and Damian Young are all returning as well. Kudrow co-created The Comeback with Michael Patrick King, who is also returning for the third season.

I do wanna see that! 20 years after its premiere and 10 years after Season 2, HBO has finally (finally!) announced that The Comeback will... come back for Season 3. The network is labeling it the final season, and Lisa Kudrow (Friends) will once again reprise her leading role as Valerie Cherish. Production starts this summer, and the new season is slated to premiere in 2026.

Two decades after it premiered — and nearly 11 years after its most recent installment — The Comeback is making another comeback.
HBO announced a third, and final, season of the comedy starring Lisa Kudrow on Friday. The show, created by Kudrow and Michael Patrick King (And Just Like That), will begin production later in the summer for a 2026 premiere.
The Comeback stars Kudrow as Valerie Cherish, an actress who appeared on a hit sitcom in the early 1990s who’s trying to make her way back into the spotlight. The first season, which premiered in June 2005, follows her as she’s cast in a new comedy, with the stipulation that she also appear in a reality show about the making of the scripted series.
Season two saw Valerie cast in an HBO project about the sitcom writer who made her life hell in season one, earning widespread acclaim professionally even as her personal life was falling apart.

After having celebrated its 20th anniversary on June 5, “The Comeback” — the beloved comedy co-created by Lisa Kudrow and Michael Patrick King that stars Kudrow as actress Valerie Cherish — has been renewed at HBO for Season 3. The announcement also says “final season,” but when a show has been on once in 2005, a second time in 2014, and will be again in 2026 the word “final” feels meaningless, and we reject it.
Kudrow returns as Valerie, of course, alongside Dan Bucatinsky (who plays Val’s publicist), Laura Silverman and Damian Young. Missing from the ensemble is the late Robert Michael Morris, who died in 2017, and played Valerie’s best friend and hair stylist, Mickey. No other cast is listed, but the show’s 2014 iteration was loaded with guest stars, including Seth Rogen and Malin Åkerman, appearing as her character from Season 1.

A super-meta, super-prescient skewering of the showbiz world, and in particular, the relatively primitive phenomena of celebrity reality TV, “The Comeback” looked destined for the status of one-season wonder when HBO pulled the plug in 2005. “I was aware that it was mainly straight, white guys who couldn’t watch it,” its star Lisa Kudrow later acknowledged, perhaps explaining how douchebro counterpart “Entourage” — whose ratings it often matched — was allowed to run for eight (plus a truly loathsome film).
Thankfully, after a nine-year period in which the show had been reevaluated as a cult classic, Kudrow and co-creator Michael Patrick King were afforded the opportunity to reintroduce their glorious comic creation, the egotistical yet strangely sympathetic enigma that is Valerie Cherish for a second season. That hurrah ran beginning November 9, 2014, and inspired the very opposite response to her well-worn catchphrase, “I don’t want to see that.”

Linda and Mr. Fischoeder are teaming up to sing an ode to bananas in a new sneak peek at Sunday’s episode of “Bob’s Burgers,” and who doesn’t love a good duet?
With lyrics like “I like bananas in muffins and scones / I like bananas when I’m making a phone,” the song appears not to be the Hoosier Hot Shots novelty song “I Like Bananas (Because They Have No Bones),” but a completely different song about a different set of reasons to be fond of the yellow fruit.
The clip comes from Sunday’s episode “Copa-Bob-bana,” in which Bob (H. Jon Benjamin) agrees to be the temporary chef at the Fischoeders’ new nightclub. Meanwhile, the kids get a hold of a stock tank and decide to throw a pool party in the restaurant basement.

Sarah Silverman revealed today that she has consensually allowed Louis C.K. to masturbate in front of her in the past. “When we were kids, and he asked if he could masturbate in front of me, sometimes I’d go, ‘Fuck yeah I want to see that!,'” she told Howard Stern Monday, according to Variety. “It’s not analogous to the other women that are talking about what he did to them. Sarah Silverman says she is among the roster of female comedians who witnessed fellow comic Louis C.K. masturbate, but for Silverman the act was consensual.
Silverman, appearing today on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM radio show, suggested that the absence of a power differential between her and C.K. precluded the behavior from being abusive. The incidents occurred early in the careers of the longtime friends.
“I don’t know if I’m going to regret saying this,” Silverman told Stern. “I’ve known Louis forever. I’m not making excuses for him, so please don’t take this that way. We are peers. We are equals. When we were kids, and he asked if he could masturbate in front of me, sometimes I’d go, ‘F*ck yeah, I want to see that!’”
Silverman continued: “It’s not analogous to the other women that are talking about what he did to them.

Austin, Texas — At the Atx TV Festival, HBO’s “The Comeback” was still very much an object of TV fan adoration. Lisa Kudrow, Michael Patrick King, Dan Bucatinsky, and Laura Silverman joined moderator Abigail Spencer to reminisce about the fan-favorite comedy, and how the show returned to do a second season ten years after the first run.
They began the panel by taking a moment to pay tribute to Robert Michael Morris, who played Mickey Dean, Valerie’s hair stylist and confidant. Morris was supposed to join the group at Atx but passed away May 30.
“He’s the only person who could have played that part,” said Bucatinsky.
Kudrow made it clear that though the show was shot documentary style, “It was not about my experience on ‘Friends.'” She added, “I did send the writers cookies, but that’s because I love cookies, not so they’d write me more stuff.

‘The Comeback’: Lisa Kudrow and Michael Patrick King Tease Possible Season 3 at Atx Festival Reunion
“The Comeback” could be coming back — again. And for exhausting as that turn of phrase as become (we’re sorry), there is no sign of series fatigue among the cast and creators.
Co-creators Lisa Kudrow and Michael Patrick King joined executive producer Dan Bucatinsky and co-star Laura Silverman for a reunion panel at the Atx TV Festival — moderated by the self-described “biggest ‘Comeback’ fan ever,” Abigail Spencer (“Timeless”) — and the group had plenty of ideas for how to keep the series going.
“There’s always a possibility,” Kudrow said of a Season 3. “If [Season 2] happened, then it’s a possibility.”
King echoed her enthusiasm, contending that the television landscape is perfectly set up for a return of Valerie Cherish.
“There’s so much aggressive sales needed, it’s like a perfect humiliation trap,” King said, holding up a water bottle sporting an ad for a network he wasn’t familiar with.

The sixth annual Atx Festival already has a slew of exciting reunions set for 2017: an “Alias” writers’ room reunion, a “Northern Exposure” reunion, and a “Designing Women” reunion are all already on the books. Now the stacked lineup is set to squeeze in two more: HBO’s “The Comeback” and the 30th anniversary of “thirtysomething.”
Lisa Kudrow, who co-created, executive produced and starred in “The Comeback,” will join fellow co-creator Michael Patrick King, cast member and producer Dan Bucatinsky, and cast member Laura Silverman for a reunion panel on the cult favorite. Additional cast will be announced at a later date, so here’s hoping Malin Akerman returns to discuss one of her best roles.

2018 will be a sad year for fans of Cartoon Network's animated series Adventure Time because that is the year that it will come to an end. We all knew it couldn't last forever, and it will be sad to see it go. In the meantime, we'll just have to enjoy the new episodes over the next two years. Deadline points out that by the time the series comes to a close, it will have had eight years and 71 hours of programming since it began.
The series was created by Pendleton Ward and centers on the post-apocalyptic adventures of Finn the Human (Jeremy Shada) and Jake the Dog (John Dimaggio). They are best friends who find themselves embarking on crazy and surreal adventures in the magical Land of Ooo.
This has been such an entertaining show to watch! I've enjoyed the strange visual style of it and the unique tone.

There's a lot of reluctance in episode two of "The Comeback." Valerie Cherish is reluctant to film her new HBO dramedy without being able to get plastic surgery first. Her husband Mark doesn't understand why Val would want either cosmetic surgery, referencing injections that went very wrong for her, nor does Mark understand why she'd want a role as "a not-so-flattering version of yourself written by a drug-addicted asshole." He later resists the camera crews filming him at home. That drug-addicted asshole, Paulie G., is also (and once again) reluctant to be filmed by the camera crews following her, now for a behind-the-scenes HBO web series--though that seems to be something even the fictional HBO representatives are reluctant about. There's little enthusiasm for it, especially with one of Valerie's young crew members slamming the boom mic into mini blinds. Most significantly, though, is the reluctance of Val's old producer, Jane,...

If you can assemble some of the best animated voice actors into a single room and put them in front of a live audience, why not ask them to do something crazy? That was our thought process as we planned what would become Vulture Festival’s “Animated Voices” panel, which featured Bob's Burgers and Archer actors H. Jon Benjamin, Lucky Yates, John Roberts, Larry Murphy, and Laura Silverman reading famous movie lines using their cartoon-character voices. They dove in, performing memorable scenes from Titanic, When Harry Met Sally, Pulp Fiction, and other classics, and it was a blast. You simply haven't heard the "I'll have what she's having" fake-orgasm scene until you've heard it done in the voice of Linda Belcher.

Well, she finally got it.
After months of rumors and speculation, HBO officially announced Monday that The Comeback will be returning to the network for a six-episode limited series this fall. The 2005 series followed Lisa Kudrow as D-list TV star Valerie Cherish trying desperately to make a career comeback while filming a reality show. Production will begin later this month in Los Angeles with Michael Patrick King (Sex in the City), Dan Bucatinsky (Scandal), and Kudrow all reprising their roles as executive producers.
“It was almost too fun to play Valerie Cherish the first time around,” Lisa Kudrow said in a statement.
