Set in a small coastal town in New Zealand, Mysterious Ways quietly explores what it means to follow your heart in the face of adversity. At the center of the story are Reverend Peter Simmons, the vicar of St. John’s Anglican Church, and his partner Jason, a former prisoner turned local rugby coach.
Peter is an openly loving man who believes the church’s message of acceptance and compassion. Under his leadership, St. John’s parish embraces people from all walks of life. But when Peter proposes to Jason over the radio and requests to wed in the church, it awakens reaction in their tight-knit community. Not all share Peter’s progressive values, and conservative forces within the diocese move to pressure the reverend into backing down.
Directed by Paul Oremland, Mysterious Ways follows Peter and Jason’s journey with subtlety. Shot elegantly on location around Auckland, it feels...

Writer/director Peter Simmons’ feature debut Another Day To Live Through opens with the foreboding words “Evil men don’t die easily. God doesn’t want them, and the devil can wait” and follows Satu (Lene Kqiku) during a hike, as she intends to reach a wilderness cabin ahead of an oncoming storm. What happens next is a blur, as the young woman awakens within a secluded cabin feeling disorientated. Also in the cabin is Lauri (Timo Torikka), an army medic who claims to be taking care of the young woman after she hits her head.
While Satu wishes to phone her friends and asks where her stuff is, Lauri makes excuses which sets alarm bells ringing. Danger signs are evident as audiences see him rummaging through Satu’s bag, including a prolonged sequence as he reads...

An Australian journalism student on an exchange in the Us has found himself in trouble for trying to write a profile of a hockey coach and telling one of his potential sources in an email that their comment “does not have to be positive”.
Alex Myers was threatened with suspension by the State University of New York College at Oswego after also telling the source that he worked at Suny Oswego’s office of public affairs when he in fact interned there.
Myers is a fourth year sports journalism student at Charles Sturt.
He faces disciplinary action and was told he was suspended – although this was later withdrawn – over his email.
According to documents published by the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education, Myers wrote an email to hockey coaches:
My name is Alex Myers, I work for the Office of Public Affairs at Suny Oswego.

Earlier this year, we reported that director Mark Pavia (The Night Flier) was working on a new Stephen King anthology movie. We now know the title, as well as the four stories that will be featured in the film:
The movie will be called The Reaper’s Image and takes its title from Stephen King’s short story of the same name. The four segments of the anthology are all adaptations of previously released King stories:
The Reaper’s Image: “Jonathan Spangler investigates a mirror with a unique history. The DeIver looking glass is one of just five created by John DeIver, and Spangler is interested in its authenticity, not its historical rumors that those people that see the Reaper in the reflection disappear forever.”
Mile 81: “By the time Pete Simmons wakes up from his vodka nap, there are a half a dozen cars at the Mile 81 rest stop.
