Mansoor Khan, a noted director in the Hindi film industry, speaks To Subhash K Jha about working with Aamir Khan, who by the way is his cousin, the role he never planned Aamir to play, and which film that they did together was his favorite.

Mansoor, you went on to do three very successful films with him. Akele Hum Akele Tum?

Yeah. Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Jo Jeeta Hoi Sikandar, Akele Hum Akele Tum. That’s it.

What is your opinion of him as to how he has evolved as an actor?

I think Aamir chose some very wrong films. Especially in the beginning. Yeah, in the beginning. But one film which I think opened him up was Dil. Indra Kumar’s style is very different from mine. His moments are loud, you know. You know, every scene is a little more intense and more over the top. So, I think that helped him.

Huma Qureshi (“Gangs of Wasseypur”) stars in “Bayaan,” (The Testimony) a police drama that has wrapped shooting and is participating in Busan’s Asian Project Market.

The film is directed by Bikas Ranjan Mishra, whose debut feature “Chauranga” won accolades at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles and the Mumbai Film Festival. It is a co-production between Shiladitya Bora’s Platoon One Films, Madhu Sharma’s Summit Studios and producers Kunal Kumar and Anshuman Singh. Bora is known for backing films like “Newton” (India’s 2018 Oscar entry) and “Picasso” (Prime Video India’s first Marathi-language direct-to-digital acquisition).

The film centers on a female detective investigating her first case as lead investigator in a small Rajasthan town. She faces significant challenges due to her opponent’s deep-rooted influence within the system, while also striving to live up to her father’s legendary reputation in law enforcement.

Indian indie producer Shiladitya Bora is set to begin production on “Bayaan,” a new drama featuring Huma Qureshi and Chandrachur Singh. The film, by writer-director Bikas Mishra (“Chauranga”), is slated to start shooting this month in Rajasthan.

Additional cast members include Sachin Khedekar (“Sita Ramam”), Avijit Dutt (“Piku”), Shampa Mandal, Priti Shukla, Vibhor Mayank and Aditi Kanchan Singh.

“Bayaan” is a co-production between Bora’s Platoon One Films, Madhu Sharma’s Summit Studios, and producers Kunal Kumar and Anshuman Singh. The project has received support from the International Film Festival Rotterdam’s Hubert Bals Fund and was developed at the LA Residency, part of Film Independent’s Global Media Makers program.

During his time at the residency, Mishra received mentorship from Craig Mazin (“Chernobyl”) and script advice from writer Jeff Stockwell and story editor Ruth Atkinson.

Akshay Kumar and Rakul Preet Singh-starrer psychological crime thriller ‘Cuttputlli’ has become the most viewed film of 2022.

According to a report by media consulting firm Ormax, Disney+ Hotstar led the most streamed movies and series list for year 2022, with Pooja Entertainment’s ‘Cuttputlli’ ruling the pack.

‘Cuttputlli’, streaming on Disney+ Hotstar, was the most watched original Hindi film with 26.9 million views. The film also stars Sargun Mehta, Joshua LeClair, Chandrachur Singh and Hrishita Bhatt.

With the help of solid backers, such as Pooja Entertainment, a pioneer in ground-breaking content creations, Disney+ Hotstar was able to lead the viewership of Hindi language Ott originals in India in 2022, according to a report by Ormax.

The platform streamed seven out of the top 15 most-watched original shows and films, and Cuttputlli is leading the list.

In 2023, Pooja Entertainments has ‘Ganapath’, ‘Capsule Gill’, ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’, and ‘Karna’ lined up.

As a bereaved wife and a protective mother who would go to any lengths for her family, Sushmita Sen towers over the proceedings as only she can. Thankfully, the series– a clever, canny altogether cool but not always crisp adaptation of the Dutch series Penoza– is a stirring enticing mixture of crime and family drama blended in a heady brew which doesn’t always stand steady on its feet.

Even when the narration stumbles, there is a certain grace to the fall. Luckily even at its lowest ebb Aarya never hits the ground. Like its supremely inviolable survivor-heroine, the series keeps afloat even when it has serious length issues. I feel the same story if told in 5 instead of 9 episodes would have been much more alluring with a landscape that exuded unrest without diversions.

Mumbai, Oct 29: After being seen as the host of cookery show "Royal Rasoi", actor Chandrachur Singh will feature in "Savdhaan India Maha Movie".

"Savdhaan India Maha Movie", which airs on Life Ok, is a two-hour-long movie that focuses on crime.

This week's story is based in Goa, and explores complexities of human relationships.

It focuses on the bond between a brother and his sister and revolves around the lives of Akshay, played by Chandrachur, and Ravina, essayed by Arya Banerjee.

When Akshay goes out on a family vacation, he spots Ravina and starts following her. Ravina, however, insists on her.

After bagging back to back biggies in Bollywood, Govinda this time has plans to act in his own production titled Abhinay Chakra. The film is said to be a thriller where in Chi Chi will be reprising the role of a cop. Govinda revealed that he was so moved by a crime based episode that he decided to adapt it into a film. Also the movie is said to be shot in a record of 29 days. Abhinay Chakra being produced under the banner Mangal Tara TV & Films stars Ashutosh Rana, Chandrachur Singh, Makrand Deshpande and South actor Harish and is directed by Dipankar Senapati.

Mumbai, Oct 7: After Prakash Jha, another filmmaker has announced a film on spiritual guru Asaram Bapu, who was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl.

The film is titled "Chal Guru Ho Ja Shuru" and actor Hemant Pandey, known for playing Pandeyji in popular TV show "Office Office", will play the main lead in it.

When asked about it, Hemant confirmed that he is playing the lead role in the film and added that it focuses on fraudulent spiritual gurus.

"The film will expose all those who have turned religion into a business and the public is becoming their victim," he said.

Directed by Manoj Sharma, the film will be made under Himalaya Dreams banner and it will also star Chandrachur Singh,.

To be fair one can’t compare two films as disparate in intent, purpose tone and treatment as Kai Po Che and Zilla Ghaziabad…except for the fact that somewhere down the line as we approach the crux and the core, both films say the same thing.

If you want to survive in this cut-throat world you have to recognize your own weaknesses and strengths. Not that I see the hurried...

Soundarya Productions brings to you the trailer of Zila Ghaziabad. Presented by Bharat Shah the movie is produced by Vinod Bachchan and Showman International and directed by Anand Kumar. The film has a long list stars – Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Vivek Oberoi, Paresh Rawal, Chandrachur Singh, Minissha Lamba, Geeta Basra, Charmy Kaur, Rajpal Yadav, Shriya Saran and Geeta Basra among others.

The story is based on real life incidents in Ghaziabad of a war between Satbir Gurjar played by Vivek Oberoi and Mahender Fauji Baisla played by Arshad Warsi in the 1990s. Sanjay Dutt plays the role of the rogue police officer Pritam Singh.

Zila Ghaziabad will release on 22nd February this year.

New Delhi, May 28: Actor Chandrachur Singh, who has been out of action for health reasons, is back. From films to television he is doing everything and is also wowed by the film industry's professionalism and changing work culture.

I was extremely wary of watching this movie. Except for a couple of trailers and songs, the only little information I had was that it’s Tusshar Kapoor’s solo-hero project. That limited knowledge did not warrant for a theatre watch. The makers had not succumbed to marketing gimmicks, the films promotional appearances were far and few. Samir Karnik’s whose last flick Yamla Pagala Deewana was a moderately successful yet ludicrous outing; banking on Deol strength, returns with a similar feel sticking to the familiar recipe.

The story set in Rajasthan, of Maharaja CV Singh (Anupam Kher) who when not being pompous of his ‘royal’ heritage, threatens to shoot anyone who crosses him. Eight year old, Rameshwari (Ritika) loses her mother during her birth and is brought by her dad, Kunwar Raghavendra Singh (Chandrachur) who remarries for getting her a mother. While Rameshwari’s stepmom Mohini is a kind soul of sorts, her mother Kokoi is diabolical character, a witch whose sole aim is grabbing Raghavendra’s entire property for which she is even.

There is a surprise in store for all Bollywood fans and followers; though not really a pleasant one.
