Although a devout democrat who only writes for democrats, as a favor to Tonight Show executive producer, Fred DeCordova, once wrote a story for Ronald Reagan about Reagan being confused with Roy Rogers, which Reagan told so many times the White House Press Corp. held a retirement party for the joke because they were "sick to death of hearing it." Reagan attended and reluctantly said good-bye to "my dear old friend.".
