The cable network has struck a non-exclusive licensing deal for the rights to old episodes of Seth MacFarlane’s Fox animated series and will launch it in the new year.

Exclusive: Family Guy is set to air on Comedy Central as part of an adult animation block after the Paramount network struck a licensing deal with Disney.

The deal will see the Seth MacFarlane-created series launch on Comedy Central on September 2, joining animated series such as South Park, Futurama, and Beavis and Butt-Head.

It highlights the fact that while licensing deals for network shows on cable is a rarity in the new world of streaming, it isn’t completely dead. The deal is non-exclusive with prior seasons continuing to air on FX and Fxx, while Hulu is the exclusive streaming home of the show.

Fox Entertainment has renewed its blockbuster Animation Domination slate of “The Simpsons,” “Family Guy” and “Bob’s Burgers” for an additional two seasons, president of scripted programming Michael Thorn announced.

The early renewals of the trio, hailing from Disney Television Studios’ 20th Television Animation, means that the long-running series will continue through the 2024-25 broadcast cycle. The stalwart Fox shows guarantee Seasons 14 and 15 for “Bob’s Burgers,” Seasons 22 and 23 for “Family Guy” and Seasons 35 and 36 for “The Simpsons,” which has now surpassed its own record for the longest-running scripted series in television history.

The new three-minute short, which you can view above, was written by the “Family Guy” writers in collaboration with MacFarlane and a team of scientific experts and epidemiologists. It’s intended to “educate, entertain and encourage the millions of unvaccinated citizens around the globe to feel confident getting vaccinated against Covid-19.”

In a competitive situation, FX Networks in 2019 landed off-network rights to Family Guy, starting with its 16th (2017-18) season, also shared with Freeform. Exclusive: Fox has locked in two of the tentpoles of its Sunday animation block for two more years. The network has renewed flagship Family Guy for Seasons 19 and 20 and the Emmy-winning Bob’s Burgers for a 12th and 13th season. The two long-running series, along with animated stalwart The Simpsons, come from 20th Television.

The Simpsons was picked up for an unprecedented 31st and 32nd seasons in early 2019 as former Fox sibling 20th TV was about to move to Disney as part of a $71.3 billion asset acquisition. I hear talks are underway on a major Simpsons renewal too.

Family Guy is paying tribute to the late Adam West on tonight’s season 17 finale.

In a preview clip, Brian the dog suggests changing the name of James Woods High School to Adam West High.

At first, the family questions Brian’s proposal. But he states his case by mocking conservative actor Woods and wins everyone over.

“James Woods is an embarrassment to Quahog. He’s a political troll and a maniac on Twitter,” Brian says.

Everyone quickly comes around and Peter says, “I’ll make a special video dedication reminding people of how great Mayor West was.”

The late Batman TV star voiced the role of Mayor West from 2000 until his death in 2017.

As for Woods, last month Twitter locked his account over a tweet the platform considered threatening in nature. The conservative star later said in a statement to The Daily Wire he would no longer be using the platform.

It was never really in doubt, but Fox has confirmed the long-running animated series by Seth MacFarlane, Family Guy, will return to its schedule.

Bob’s Burgers is also a go for a ninth season by Fox.

The wicked comedy of Family Guy features voices by Alex Borstein, Seth Green, Mila Kunis and Mike Henry. 20th Century Fox Television is in charge of production with Rich Appel and Alec Sulkin as executive producers and showrunners. Steve Callaghan, Danny Smith and Kara Vallow are executive producers with MacFarlane.

Bob’s Burgers features voicing by H. Jon Benjamin, John Roberts, Kristen Schaal, Eugene Mirman, Dan Mintz and Larry Murphy.

Loren Bouchard created the series and is the executive producer and writer, working with executive producer Jim Dauterive. The series is a co-production between 20th Century Fox Television and Bento Box Entertainment.

Both series are in production on their new seasons.

Seth MacFarlane’s “Family Guy” has been renewed for a 16th season at Fox.

The half-hour animated raunchy family comedy from creator, executive producer and star MacFarlane stars the voice talent of Alex Borstein, Seth Green, Mila Kunis and Mike Henry. The 16th season will also mark the 20th anniversary of the series.

The 15th season featured a special limited commercial interruption event episode and its 300th episode, and averaged 2.55 million total live viewers and a rating of 1.15 in the 18-49 demo. When looking at live+7, the series averages 10.6 multi-platform viewers and a 1.8 in the demo.

“Family Guy” is a 20th Century Fox Television production. Rich Appel and Alec Sulkin serve as executive producers and showrunners, while Steve Callaghan, Danny Smith and Kara Vallow are executive producers alongside MacFarlane.

MacFarlane’s other Fox series, “The Orville,” was previously renewed, as was “9-1-1,” “Empire,” “Star,” “The Resident,” “The Gifted” and “The Simpsons.

Suck Movie Still - Jess' PareUniversal Pictures has picked up Suck for a United Kingdom release with Alliance releasing this rock and roll flavoured film in Canada and E1 Entertainment in the Us' (Inside). Now, Universal has released an official trailer for the feature, which is shorter, punchier, and more showy. More footage from the film is displayed along with an announced American DVD release of September 28th. This feature will also be available on Blu-Ray formats. If you are unfamiliar with the story, Suck follows a down and out rock and roll band as they struggle to find popularity. The film has had a successful run on the film festival circuit and now the special features for the DVD release are available. An off the wall premise is taken into hilarious realms with help from sketch comedian and actor David Foley.
