The 4th of July holiday weekend is typically a big one at the box office, with fans flocking to their local theaters to beat the heat. This year, three new movies opened, The Bfg, The Legend of Tarzan and The Purge: Election Year, going up against the winner for the past two weekends, Finding Dory. Unfortunately, none of these newcomers could defeat the champ, with Finding Dory winning for a third week in a row with $41.9 million.
Box Office Mojo reports that Finding Dory dropped just 42.6% this weekend. The Legend of Tarzan opened in 3,561 theaters, followed by The Bfg in 3,357 theaters and The Purge: Election Year in 2,796 theaters. The Bfg is the only new release to have a positive Rotten Tomatoes rating, with a solid 71% Fresh, with The Legend of Tarzan scoring just 35% and The Purge: Election Year getting 54%. The Legend of Tarzan debuted in second place with $38.1 million, followed...

Pixar's Finding Dory helped resuscitate a sagging summer box office earlier this month, with a record-breaking $135 million, the highest debut ever for an animated movie. The sequel easily took down Independence Day: Resurgence, The Shallows and Free State of Jones in its second weekend, but it faces some much stiffer competition heading into the extended holiday. Disney's The Bfg, Warner Bros.' The Legend of Tarzan and Universal's The Purge: Election Year all debut this Friday. While it will likely be fairly close, Finding Dory is expected to hold onto its crown for a third weekend in a row, with $38.7 million.
If this prediction holds true, it will represent a 53.5% drop for Finding Dory in its third weekend, and push it past $300 million domestic. While $38.7 million isn't a terribly high figure for a winning summer weekend, none of the three new releases have been tracking very high with box office pundits.

The first poster for Disney’s The Bfg is here.
The talents of three of the world’s greatest storytellers – Roald Dahl, Walt Disney and Steven Spielberg – finally unite to bring Dahl’s beloved classic “The Bfg” to life.
Directed by Spielberg, Disney’s The Bfg tells the imaginative story of a young girl and the Giant who introduces her to the wonders and perils of Giant Country.
The Bfg (Mark Rylance), while a giant himself, is a Big Friendly Giant and nothing like the other inhabitants of Giant Country. Standing 24-feet tall with enormous ears and a keen sense of smell, he is endearingly dim-witted and keeps to himself for the most part. Giants like Bloodbottler (Bill Hader) and Fleshlumpeater (Jemaine Clement) on the other hand, are twice as big and at least twice as scary and have been known to eat humans, while the Bfg prefers Snozzcumber and Frobscottle.

"I think it was kind of genius of Roald Dahl to be able to empower the children. It was very, very brave of him to introduce that combination of darkness and light which was so much Disney's original signature in a lot of their earlier works like in 'Dumbo,' 'Fantasia,' 'Snow White' and 'Cinderella,' and being able to do scary, but also be redemptive at the same time and teach a lesson, an enduring lesson, to everyone, it was...

Even if you’ve never watched a single episode of ABC’s General Hospital, there’s a good chance you’ve heard the names Luke Spencer and/or Anthony Geary.
The former is one half of Luke-and-Laura, the supercouple whose wedding was an historic TV event and whose exploits dominated daytime television in the 1970s and ’80s.
The latter is Luke’s portrayer, an eight-time Daytime Emmy winner who in Monday’s episode bid farewell to the soap he called home, off and on, since 1978.

From show creator Brad Neely, the Adult Swim animated series China, Il is set in the worst college in America. Centered around brothers Steve and Frank Smith, who teach in the history department, their Ta Pony Merks (voiced by Greta Gerwig), a lovable idiot named Baby Cakes (voiced by Neely) and a variety of students and professors, it is a reverse Animal House where the teachers are crazy and the students just want to learn. During this recent exclusive phone interview with Collider, actress Greta Gerwig talked about how she got approached to do this show totally out of the blue, how she found the voice for Pony Merks, how challenging she found it to only have her voice to work with, how surreal it is to hear her voice coming out of a character that looks nothing like her, what a bummer it is that she doesn’t get...

It only takes a few seconds of any track from Austin’s Frank Smith to know that this outfit isn’t just one person, but a full-on rock band. The name is the result of frontman Aaron Sinclair’s quandary with a former band that discovered another group with the same band name. The new group spent a fair amount of time looking for a fresh, clever name and at some point decided not to waste anymore thought on it. They chose a somewhat anonymous name and decided to let the music speak for itself. When you hear Frank Smith’s straightforward approach to...

A “bromance” is a relationship between two heterosexual men that shares many of the elements or indicators of a romantic relationship. Originally coined in the ‘90s, the term caught on in mainstream pop culture a few years ago and has since saturated the market. Clearly the topic is of interest to many, but upon investigation, while there is plenty of discussion of different couples or bromates, there isn’t much discussion of the bromance as a genre of TV all its own. There are plenty of great romances in television history, entire shows driven by a central romantic relationship and the comedy or drama derived therefrom, but what about shows based on a platonic male love affair?
The parameters: A show must be centered around a core relationship between two heterosexual male friends. The main drama or comedy must be derived from their interactions and the characters’ other relationships must be secondary to the bromance.

On the 10th December 2010, prison inmate No. 43355-018, aka Wesley Snipes, reported to a Pennsylvanian prison to begin a three-year incarceration for tax evasion. However, before Snipes started his ‘bird’ – one which many feel has been totally blown out of proportion because of his celebrity status – he managed to squeeze in one quick release – enter Game of Death. In it, Snipes plays Secret Ops employee agent Marcus, a hitman sent to take out an arms dealer and the mutual fund that is financing him. However, two of his fellow CIA operatives have other plans, and Marcus eventually becomes locked in a deadly game of cat and mouse with his former associates and their now corrupt CIA operation.
The premise of the film is this – Agent Marcus (Snipes) is a loyal, cold-blooded hitman for the CIA who has spent his life taking orders and killing as instructed. However, what sets him...
