Queen Camilla’s Leaked Royal Protocol Enrages Fans
Image
Queen Camilla has found herself in the proverbial hot soup once more – and golly it hasn’t even been a great many days since she was criticized for pushing ahead of the King during some event. Oh well, what did she do now?

Fans Disagree With Royal Protocol Issued On Queen Camilla’s Behalf

Queen Camilla may have just given the Republic one more reason to shout “down with the Monarchy” at the very top of their voices.

You see, we’ve always known that Queen Camilla treasures books and women’s causes, so her appearance at a Women’s Prize for Fiction event was not the least bit surprising.

What caught most people’s attention, however, is the guidelines published beforehand on how to interact with King Charles’ wife, Camilla.

Some of these controversial rules include, “As the VIP approaches your group, please ensure you are not holding anything...

Lauri Carleton, the 66-year-old owner of the Lake Arrowhead-area clothing store Mag.pi, was shot and killed Friday, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. The killing has drawn national attention due to reports that she was “murdered defending her LGBTQ+ Pride flags in front of her store,” as Lake Arrowhead LGBTQ stated in a Facebook post.

Now according to a post from Paul Feig, “Bridesmaids” director and friend of Carleton, she was killed by a 27-year-old man who ripped down a large pride flag outside her store. He adds that when she confronted him, he shot her.

“We are all devastated for her husband Bort and her family and the LGBTQ+ community, for whom Lauri was such a true ally,” Feig wrote on Instagram. “This intolerance has to end. Anyone using hateful language against the LGBTQ+ community has to realize their words matter, that their words can inspire violence against innocent loving people.

We Found Nemo in These Cool Minimalist Pixar Posters!
It's official: Minimalist posters are a thing. Studios are still churning out dull, lifeless floating head Photoshop deals, but everyone who knows where it's at lives for the clever, often fan-made movie art that pops up with increasing frequency.

One such experiment in coolness was conducted by graphic designer Wonchan Lee, who made several pieces representing different animated masterpieces in the Pixar canon, which can be seen in an article on Yahoo! and after the jump.

Each poster contains just a smidgeon of character detail, whether it be the three distinctive white stripes of Albert Brooks' Marlin from "Finding Nemo" set against an orange backdrop, or the unmistakable whiskers of Patton Oswalt's Remy from "Ratatouille." Instant recognizability is sacrificed for the joy of piecing things together in your head, and that extra leap lets the viewer feel like they're in on a fun secret, like recognizing a Masonic...

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Cast
Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Night Watch) has found his honest Abe. Heat Vision Blog is reporting that Benjamin Walker is now locked down to play the titular character in the adaptation of Seth Graham Smith's novel of the same name. Walker's previous work includes roles in Flags Of Our Fathers and Kinsey. This is Bekmambetov's first feature since the 2008 actioner, Wanted. Aside from some of it's casting choices, I enjoyed Wanted and Timur's hyper-style should make this flick one to watch. Also, the idea of Abraham Lincoln suiting up for a night of monster hunting sounds incredibly like something I need to see!

Mike White Will No Longer Direct Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
It's been a long, hard road for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, the adaptation of Seth Graham Smith's best selling book. The script has reportedly been highly praised, but it has had a difficult time getting people to stick with it. First, David O. Russell and Natalie Portman were attached before both dropped off this past fall. Then, after facing down some pretty stiff competition, Mike White emerged as the next director of the project. So guess what we have to report today? Deadline has gotten word that White has been forced to leave the director's chair of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, citing scheduling issues. In a statement, White was quoted as saying, "I loved the project and looked forward to working with Lionsgate. Unfortunately, the timing could not be worked out. I wish them the best with the movie." While campaigning for the project, White outlasted the...

The royals are under pressure to have an austere wedding in the teeth of a recession. Andrew Roberts on why the House of Windsor should live it up. Plus, view our full coverage of William & Kate-photos, videos, and more.

"The age of chivalry is gone," wrote the British philosopher Edmund Burke at the time of the French Revolution. "That of sophisters, economists, and calculators, has succeeded; and the glory of Europe is extinguished forever." So we must feel today when the very first question that the media are asking of Prince William's wedding to Kate Middleton is: "How much will it cost?"

Related story on The Daily Beast: Waity Katie's Marriage Gamble

The engagement ring has hardly been slipped on Kate's winsome finger before economists and calculators have started estimating the cost of security and police overtime, and worked out that the street-cleaning alone will come to $60,000. The argument about...

Prince Philip's Patel gaffe
Britain's Prince Philip has made another gaffe, this time mocking an Indian man's surname. The Duke of Edinburgh - who is known for his off-colour comments - made his latest blunder at a party at Buckingham Palace attended by 400 influential British Indians to celebrate a state visit by Indian President Pratibha Patil. As guests lined up to greet Philip and his wife Queen Elizabeth, Philip read businessman Atul Patel's nametag and said: "There's a lot of your family in tonight". Philip's joke refers to the stereotype that all Patels are related, as it is the second most popular Indian surname after Singh. Anti-monarchy group Republic has condemned the 88-year-old royal's comments. Spokesman Graham Smith told: "Making a joke about...

Jane Austen would turn in her grave. But then again, that's what the writers of the Quirk Books adaptations of Austen's classics are counting on.

After the surprise success of "Pride & Prejudice & Zombies," Quirk Books announced the follow-up novel hitting stores later this year: "Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters."

The latest Jane Austen novel receiving the monster treatment is written by Ben H. Winter. "Pride & Prejudice & Zombies"-scribe Seth Graham Smith is hard at work at "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" for Grand Central.

The new book expands Austen's original text with what Quirk Books calls all-new scenes of "giant lobsters, rampaging octopi, two-headed sea serpents, and other biological monstrosities."...

The Late Princess Diana's Private Letters To Remain Private
Britain's Princess Diana's private letters are going to be kept secret. A request to make the notes available to the public was rejected because the letters - which were sent to the British government - were deemed to be "of a personal nature" by the Information Commissioner, and unrelated to government business.

Deputy Information Commissioner Graham Smith said: "It is important to draw a clear distinction between matters of a public interest and matters about which the public may be merely curious."

Britain's royal family is usually exempt from the Freedom of Information Act, unless the information is deemed to be in the interest of the public.

The first request to read the letters from the princess - who died in 1997 after a car accident in Paris - was made in October 2006.
