After gaining international critical acclaim with his short and art house films, Song Il-gon's directed first mainstream film “Always” that opened the 2011 Busan International Film Festival. It was also the first feature film for actress Han Hyo-joo. Song Il-gon (1971) studied Fine Arts at the Seoul Institute of the Arts. After graduation he attended the National Academy of Film in Łódź, Poland. During his time there he made several short films that were influenced by psychology and Western mythology such as Liver and Potato(1998) inspired by the biblical story of Cain and Abel and The Dream of the Clowns (1998). Receiving the Jury Prize for Best Short Film for Picnic (Sopoong,1999) Song became the first Korean to win an award at the Cannes Film Festival. This international success continued with his first feature Flower Island (2001) wining a prize at the Venice Film Festival

Bts Score Title Song for Japanese Film ‘Your Eyes Tell’ (Exclusive)

Korean pop sensation, Bts will provide the original theme song for upcoming Japanese movie “Your Eyes Tell.” With Bts member Jungkook among the composers, it is the first time that the best-selling band has participated with a film in this manner.

The song and the movie share the same English-language title, though the English title of the song is presented as “Your Eyes Tell” and the film also goes by the Japanese title “Kimino mega toikaketeiru.” The song features as a track on the new “Map of the Soul: 7 – The Journey” album being launched Wednesday for the Japan market.

The film is a remake of the 2011 Korean movie “Always,” which was directed by Song Il-gon. The retread is directed by Takahiro Miki and stars Yuriko Yoshitaka (“We Were There”) and Ryusei Yokohama (TV drama “Your Turn to Kill”). It is set for release by Gaga Corporation on Oct. 23 this year.

Dickson Leach’s UK-China project is being produced by Christopher Granier-Deferre.

The Iffam Project Market (Ipm) has unveiled 14 films that will be presented during its event December 9-11.

They include the latest feature from UK director Hope Dickson Leach (The Levelling), who will introduce her family drama Klepto, which is being produced by Christopher Granier-Deferre at Poisson Rouge Pictures and is a UK-China co-production.

Also on the list are South Korean director Song II-Kong’s romantic drama Love Song and the first fiction feature from documentary director Yan Ting Yuen, arthouse project Hong Kong Sister.
