  • Died in air combat (WW-2, eastern front) when his plane was shot down.
  • Lean, blond Austrian leading man of the 1930's and 40's, the son of an itinerant stage actor. On stage from 1928. Usually typecast as heroic soldiers or pilots in propaganda films of the Nazi period. His wife, the actress Maria Bard, committed suicide eight months prior to Stelzer's own death in a plane crash.
  • He was able to become accommodated by a Vienna drama school and later he made his stage debut at the Neues Frankfurter Theater Main.
  • When World War II broke out his movie engagements dropped of.
  • As a soldier he was detailed to the air force where he was an airman, a role he already could test in his movie "Stukas" before.
  • Hannes Stelzer was married with the actress Maria Bard who already committed suicide in April 1944.
  • The actor Hannes Stelzer was born into an acting family and his parents toured through the country with a traveling theater and the young Hannes Stelzer could see the whole country.
  • He conquered the German big screen from the middle of the 30's and was very successful till the 40's.
  • On 27th December 1944 he was shot down during an air combat on the Eastern Front, near Komarom (Hungary).
