Universal And Frank Marshall Developing Movie Inspired By Fitness Icon Jake Steinfeld
Image
Exclusive: Universal Pictures is in early development on a project inspired by the life of fitness icon Jake Steinfeld that will be produced by Frank Marshall. Sources say no talent is involved at this time.

Universal declined comment.

While plot details are unknown the film is not expected to be a straight biopic and is expected to explore the culture movement Steinfeld started for personal fitness training.

He helped launch the personal fitness training industry more than 40 years ago and has been the guiding light for health & wellness in lifestyle, sports and entertainment ever since. A force in direct-to-consumer sales of home fitness equipment, he had the most profitable string of hits in the infomercial industry and spent 15 years on Hsn...

Bryan Cranston in Breaking Bad (2008)
Us actor joins Arctic-set drama from the writers of Breaking Bad, executive produced by Frank Marshall.

Ben Schnetzer (The Book Thief, Pride) has signed on to play the leading role in The Grizzlies, set to shoot in April 2016 in Iqaluit, Nunavut – a small city in the Canadian Arctic.

The Grizzlies is based on the true story of high school teacher Russ Sheppard (Schnetzer) who arrived in a struggling Arctic community ravaged by alcoholism, abuse, and the highest suicide rate in North America and started a lacrosse league. The sports league galvanized the town and sparked a change in the kids who transformed their lives for the better.

Fitness entrepreneur and producer Jake Steinfeld, founder of Major League Lacrosse, held the rights to Sheppard’s story.

Following breakthrough roles in The Book Thief and Pride, Schnetzer will next...

30 Things You (Probably) Didn't Know About 'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom'
Thirty years ago, "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom," the much-awaited follow-up to "Raiders of the Lost Ark," debuted. Indiana Jones was back -- although the film was set earlier than the events of "Raiders" -- and this time, he had a dame (Kate Capshaw) and a kid (Jonathan Ke Quan) with him. Oh, and he wasn't fighting Nazis, just a deadly, child-enslaving cult.

If you're not old enough to remember, this (along with "Gremlins" and "Poltergeist") was the movie that prompted the creation of the PG-13 rating, after parents complained that a PG-rating wasn't adequate for a movie that includes a scene where a man's still-beating heart is ripped out of his chest.

But did you know that an Oscar-winning Hollywood legend almost had a small role in the film? Or what stars pranked Harrison Ford on the set? Didn't think so.

Here are 30 things you might not have known about the movie.

A Girl With 'Grit'
December is a big month for Hailee Steinfeld. On Dec. 11, the California native will celebrate her 14th birthday. On Dec. 22, she will appear on screens across America opposite Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon in the Coen brothers' Western "True Grit." In the film, based more on the 1968 novel by Charles Portis than on the 1969 film starring John Wayne, Steinfeld portrays 14-year-old Mattie Ross, a bright and headstrong young woman who hires drunken bounty hunter Rooster Cogburn (Bridges) to hunt down the man who killed her father. It has become a cliché to talk about young actors as wise beyond their years, but consider this: Kim Darby, who played Mattie in the original, was in her 20s when the film was shot. Steinfeld was younger than her character, only 13, when she played Mattie. And yet she delivers a performance free of affectation, more than holding her own opposite such veterans as Bridges—indeed,...

If you're excited about the "Nightmare On Elm Street" remake starring Jackie Earle Haley that comes out this week, you may be more interested in the project than Nicky Hilton, who tweeted about some bad childhood memories she still carries from the first film.

In other posting, buddy shots were all the rage last night, with "Last Airbender" actor Aasif Mandvi hanging out with Dr. Sanjay Gupta and more Twitter-Wood ladies than I can list here getting together for dinner with Candace Cameron Bure and Denise Richards. Check those out after the jump along with Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg's thoughts on British Prime Minister Gordon Brown's "bigoted" comment and a Gray's Papaya fan.

It's all documented in Twitter-Wood for April 28, 2010.
