Disney's Longest Gap Between A Movie And Its Sequel
Image
There's always something fascinating about the phenomenon of late-stage sequels. Filmmakers will sometimes wait decades after a film is released to make a follow-up, which only proves that the original has either retained its cultural clout or somehow gained more traction in the mass consciousness over time. It's easy to see why, in 1985, Walter Murch decided to make a sequel to 1939's "The Wizard of Oz" called "Return to Oz." It had been about 46 years since the original had been released, but "The Wizard of Oz" had — and has — remained one of the most famous movies of all time. A sequel would merely tap into the perpetual affection American audiences have for the film.

And, of course, some long-in-the-tooth sequels are merely a matter of timing, interest, and commitment. Why were there over ten years between "Toy Story 2" (1999) and "Toy Story 3" (2010)? No other reason than that the studio was working on other things.

3 Boxing Movies That Are as Inspiring as Tyson Fury’s Comeback After Battle With Depression and Alcohol Addiction
Image
When Mike Tyson and Jake Paul announced that the duo would be going face-to-face in one of the most celebrated boxing matches of the year, fans of the 58-year-old legend went crazy. After all, this would be the chance to witness the maestro in action again.

While the result must have been a little anti-climactic (and it is slightly debatable how real the fight was), fans of the former Boxer know really well that this won’t be what defines Tyson. It is his tenacity and the spirit of never giving up that make Tyson the man he is. And they have (and will continue to) inspire people over the years.

Jessica Jones Star's Action Movie Becomes Netflix Hit 2 Years Later Despite 0% Rotten Tomatoes Score
Image
In 2023, the action thriller Mercy was pummeled by critics, getting slapped with a rare and unwanted Rotten Tomatoes score of 0%. However, the film is getting another chance with Netflix subscribers two years after its release.

Per FlixPatrol, Mercy is currently ranked at No. 7 on Netflix's Top 10 chart for feature films, globally. The film was not a big success upon its release in theaters on May 12, 2023. Its reception was especially harsh, given the 0% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and its audience score is only good by direct comparison, as it's also rather low at 17%. The movie was acknowledged at the 44th Golden Raspberry Awards (aka the Razzies), when Jon Voight "won" the award for Worst Actor.

Mercy Review: Die Hard in a Hospital
Image
It's Die Hard in a hospital as a former combat surgeon battles ruthless Irish gangsters holding innocent patients' hostage. Mercy could have been a pulse-pounding thriller with a scrappy protagonist who's easy to root for. Star Leah Gibson delivers beatings and bullets like a bona fide action star. Villains Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Jon Voight, sporting a sweet Limerick brogue, are nasty enough to warrant true contempt. Thus, the overall premise and individual performances aren't lacking for the material. The problem lies in the execution of a weak script loaded with plot holes. Several scenes try your patience as common sense and self-preservation are obviously ignored.

In Kandahar, Afghanistan, Captain Michelle Miller (Gibson) faces a life or death situation in a field hospital. Its tragic outcome irrevocably changing her fate. Several years later, Michelle works as a doctor at Seattle's Mercy Regional Hospital. She proves her undeniable skill by saving a severely injured man.
