Per Variety, Disney+ has canceled Goosebumps, but there may still be hope for the horror series based on R.L. Stine’s book series. The show, which originally debuted in October 2023, featured a 10-episode first season. Its second season, airing in January 2025, consisted of eight episodes and an entirely new cast and story.

The outlet reports that an individual with close knowledge of the show’s situation believes that Sony Pictures Television, which produces Goosebumps, plans to shop the show around to other streamers and possibly explore “different creative directions for the IP.”

Like most modern comedy series, the humor part of Platonic is somewhat muted; the characters, who belong to quite an affluent background, might not feel relatable either. But the emotional beats, which the leads tap into effortlessly, and the inherent silliness of the narrative might allow viewers to feel an odd sense of peace.

In the show’s new season, Will (Seth Rogen) and Sylvia (Rose Byrne) are still platonic best friends, but the pair’s decades-long, boisterous dynamic is threatened as Will enters a relationship. “Will and I always get screwy when he’s in a couple,” Sylvia tells her husband Charlie in the trailer.

Both Will and Sylvia are determined to not let that happen this time — but first, they must grow up a little.

Apple TV+ has now released a trailer for Platonic Season 2, bringing the rock-solid duo back to the small screen for more friendly banter and unhealthy co-dependency. It has been more than two years since audiences last caught up with Will and Sylvia, but rest assured, they are still the same chaotic – and absolutely platonic – pairing that people grew to know and love when the critically acclaimed comedy series first debuted back in 2023.

It looks like they will be put through the wringer trying to contend with various hurdles, which, according to the show's synopsis, include "work, weddings, and partners in crises.

The 10-episode sophomore season will premiere globally on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, with the first two episodes, followed by one episode weekly until October 1, 2025.

This time around, Will’s new relationship potentially threatens the 25-year unique friendship between Will and Sylvia that they repaired last season. Sylvia laments to her husband (Luke Macfarlane) that it would take way too long to replace Will, so they have to figure out how to make it work. Deadline reports that Ryan Gosling and Will Ferrell are set to star in Tough Guys, a new action comedy in the works for Amazon MGM Studios. The project comes from a spec story written by Daniel Gold and follows “two henchmen who are tired of being disposable and break free from the criminal underworld, rewriting the rules as they build a new life on their own terms.“

In addition to starring, Gosling and Ferrell are expected to serve as producers as well. Gosling and Jessie Henderson are in talks to produce through Open Invite Entertainment, and Ferrell and Jessica Elbaum are in talks to produce for Gloria Sanchez Productions. There’s no word on who will direct Tough Guys.

Per Deadline, Gosling and Ferrell are set to co-star in a new movie called Tough Guys. An action comedy, the film comes from Amazon MGM Studios. Gosling is also in talks to produce alongside Jessie Henderson through Open Invite Entertainment, while Ferrell is also eyed to produce with Jessica Elbaum for Gloria Sanchez Productions. Trevor Engelson and Aaron Falbe are in talks to executive produce for Underground.

As of now, a director has not yet been attached to the project, but the script comes from writer Daniel Gold (Workin' Moms). The film follows "two henchmen who are tired of being disposable and break free from the criminal underworld, rewriting the rules as they build a new life on their own terms.

With 23 nods announced on Tuesday morning, the show has leapfrogged past Ted Lasso — another Apple TV+ darling — which previously held the record with 20 nominations back in 2021.

Martin Scorsese and Ron Howard received their first ever acting Emmy nominations on Tuesday for their appearances in Apple TV+’s The Studio.

Emmy- and Oscar-winning filmmaker Martin Scorsese earned his first Emmy nomination for acting on Tuesday, grabbing a slot in the Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series category. The “Goodfellas” and “Taxi Driver” director appeared in the pilot of Apple TV+’s Hollywood satire “The Studio” this year, playing a version of himself.

It is his 13th overall Emmy nomination.

In the episode, “The Promotion,” Seth Rogen’s newly appointed studio head, Matt Remick, is tasked with getting a Kool-Aid movie off the ground. Remick, a cinephile, wants to produce movies with artistic merit beyond studio franchise fare. When he takes a meeting with Scorsese about a Jonestown movie the legend is set on making, Remick tries to brute force the director’s pitch into becoming the Kool-Aid adaptation, drawing a link between the IP and Jim Jones’ oft-misidentified poisonous drink mix. Rogen directed Scorsese’s performance alongside series co-creator Evan Goldberg.

Apple TV+’s sci-fi shows like Foundation and Severance are famous for their unrelenting plot twists and complex characters. However, the comedies of the streamer are not something to sneer at as well, especially when they’re led by heavyweights like Ted Lasso. But not many want to invest in a multi-season long comedy. After all, sometimes a short and sweet season is all one needs to get a few laughs before moving on.

Thankfully, Apple TV+ is a treasure trove of one-season laughter buckets that deliver a satisfying and funny story in a few episodes. So, if you are looking to cleanse your palate after heavy dramas with a satire on fame or perhaps with quirky workplace shenanigans, then this is the right place.
