“That has never happened to me before”: Usopp Voice Actor Cried For the 1st Time in His Career in “Humiliating” One Piece Moment
Image
One Piece is renowned for balancing humour with profound emotional depth. Its humor never deters from the point the story hopes to deliver, a quality not every story can boast of. This is the case with its characters as well. A character may come across as humorous when we first meet them, but their humour is always accompanied by an experience that changes them.

Usopp, the sniper of the Straw Hat Pirates, is the perfect example. More often than not, he is depicted as a funny and humorous character who prefers to take the back seat when fighting, but Water 7 changed that, unlocking a new depth to his character. The arc was so brutal for Usopp that it brought Sonny Strait, Usopp’s English Va, to tears, which had never happened to him before.

What Is the One Piece Treasure: One Piece Voice Actors Talk Eiichiro Oda’s Final Big Twist
Image
The biggest question that One Piece fans have been wondering about since the first day is, what is the ‘One Piece’ treasure? The entire series is based around this question, and for almost 30 years, every fan has tried to figure out the true contents of the treasure that has caused havoc in the One Piece world.

When the series started, it was revealed that One Piece was all the treasure that the former Pirate King Gol D. Roger gained during his journey as a pirate, and he placed it on Laugh Tale, the final island of the Grand Line. Not only that, it was also pointed out that this treasure also belonged to Joy Boy, the first pirate in history.

While these details are certainly intriguing, they don’t reveal what the treasure truly is. While fans try to figure out the One Piece treasure, the voice actors of One Piece...

Netflix Has an Unfortunate Update for One Piece Anime Fans
Image
One Piece fans are going to have to prepare for a somewhat disappointing March, as Netflix will be removing another of its One Piece anime titles from its catalog.

Via What's on Netflix, One Piece Film: Strong World will be removed from the service on March 15, unfortunately leaving U.S. viewers without easy access to watch the movie. Strong World is a notable entry to the franchise for several reasons, including being one of the few One Piece films that had Eiichiro Oda himself as the writer. As with many of the franchise's movies, Strong World was well-received, opening with over one billion yen over its domestic opening weekend. It also opened on 188 screens and sold out 103 of those showings throughout the weekend. This led to the film's per-screen average being the record for a nationwide release in Japan at the time, with an average of 5.52 million yen.

One Piece Season 2 Release Date Window Gets an Update From Sanji Actor
Image
One Piece star Taz Skyler teased the potential release date window for the highly-anticipated second installment of the hit Netflix series. This comes after the live-action adaptation had just recently wrapped up its Season 2 production last December, after seven months of filming in South Africa.

During a recent interview with The Direct, Skyler was asked about the ongoing online speculations regarding the release date window for One Piece Season 2, after Netflix excluded the show’s from its 2025 slate. "I've heard multiple versions myself, so I'd probably be getting myself into trouble if I did say. But at the same time, I can quite honestly say I don't think it's clear yet, but I could again. I don't know if I'm gonna get into trouble, but I could probably say with most confidence, it's not further than that [2026] window." If the streamer is indeed targeting a 2026 release date for the show’s return,...

Author Eiichiro Oda's epic shonen saga One Piece may be famed for its great worldbuilding and its fun Devil Fruit-based combat system, but many fans would argue that this series' strength lies in its huge cast of characters. Some characters may be just extras or fluff villains, but One Piece doesn't rely on sheer quantity to make its cast of characters compelling. 10 Things Everyone Forgets About Watching Anime on Toonami in the Late '90s & Early 2000s
Image
Anime fans today have it incredibly easy compared to those who were cultivating this interest outside of Japan in the '90s and '00s. Back in the day, there was very little anime that made it to America in a way that even presented itself as anime at the time. Pokémon, Speed Racer (originally Mach GoGoGo in Japanese), and others were localized so intensely for American audiences in the earlier eras that it was a little bit silly. Much of that began to change when Cartoon Network began experimenting with the Toonami block of programming on their network in the late '90s.

Many millennials have a lot of good memories of Toonami specifically and how it introduced them to Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, Yu Yu Hakusho and so many other amazing anime that they had never seen before. The programming block was a smash hit and is...

One Piece's Eiichiro Oda Is Inspired by Tarantino Movies Like Pulp Fiction
Image
One Piece's Eiichiro Oda takes influence from popular Western titles, such as Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs, among other classic films.

One of Oda's earliest interviews with Comickers in 1998 delved into his influences, many of which included Western movies. "I love movies. I love Western movies, and there's a movie called 'Young Guns,' [directed by Christopher Cain] and that's already at the top of my list. It's so cool. I think I was in high school when I first saw it. But that's why I drew 'Wanted!' right away. The other inspirations were Tarantino's. I love 'Pulp Fiction.' Also, walking around in the suits from ‘Reservoir Dogs’—that’s super cool too, right?"

Ian Sinclair, Brina Palencia, & Sonny Strait Interview: One Piece Film Red

One Piece Film: Red's English release is close at hand, and with it comes a new adventure for Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates. To commemorate the release of this landmark moment in the series, we spoke to the English voice talents behind three of the crews' biggest personalities; Brook, Chopper, and Usopp.

Releasing in English on November 4th, One Piece Film: Red is the franchise's fifteenth movie. Red's main antagonist is a pop idol named Uta who was a childhood friend of Luffy and has close ties to Shanks. While much of the buzz surrounding the film focuses on what Uta will reveal about Luffy and Shanks' pasts, they aren't the only ones with a stake in the plot. With Usopp's father Yasopp being an important crew member of Shanks' Red Hair Pirates, there's a distinct possibility that anything the Straw Hats learn about Shanks' past could have implications for Usopp's family.
