The Times buys entire advertising break during Channel 4's Homeland
The Times has bought an entire advertising break during Channel 4's Homeland.

The newspaper will use its three-minute slot during Sunday night's (November 23) episode to air short film Bearing Witness, which tells the story of the kidnapping of two of its journalists in Syria.

Bearing Witness features interviews with journalists Anthony Loyd and Jack Hill, who were kidnapped, beaten and shot by a rebel gang in the country. They escaped from their captors in May.

At the end of the short film, The Times will air another advert encouraging viewers to sign up to their subscription service, with an additional 4Od campaign also set for broadcast.

Nick Stringer, chief creative officer at News UK, said that the advertising strategy is a perfect "brand fit" for The Times.

He explained: "Bearing Witness tells a powerful story full of insight into the dangers journalists face in their endeavours to report the...

Turtle: The Incredible Journey (2008)
SeaWorld Sets Turtle: The Incredible Journey for Summer Release
Turtle: The Incredible Journey (2008)
SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment today announced the launch of Turtle: The Incredible Journey, a family documentary directed by National Geographic Explorer's Nick Stringer. The film will be distributed in partnership with Hannover House by SeaWorld's newly formed SeaWorld Pictures division. Hannover House is the entertainment unit of Target Development Group (Pinksheets: Tdgi).

Turtle: The Incredible Journey is an award-winning film that follows the life and migration of a loggerhead turtle from hatching to maturity and a return to its original Florida nesting grounds. The loggerhead turtle, a threatened species, has one of the longest and most difficult migratory patterns of any marine animal: Sea turtles newly hatched on the East Coast of the United States (usually in Florida) make their way from the sand into the ocean, and then begin a voyage that can span the entire Atlantic Ocean, only to return decades later to that same beach.

Pete Postlethwaite obituary
Oscar-nominated British actor with a vast range who could move between comedy and tragedy with ease

The actor Pete Postlethwaite had a face that elicited many similes, among them "a stone archway" and "a bag of spanners". These unflattering descriptions, plus his tongue-twisting surname, would suggest an actor with a career limited to minor supporting roles. But Postlethwaite, who has died of cancer aged 64, played a vast range of characters, often leading roles, on stage, television and film.

He was at ease in switching the masks of tragedy and comedy. The working-class martinet father he played in Terence Davies's film Distant Voices, Still Lives (1988), which Postlethwaite credited as his big break, can be seen as paradigmatic of his career. Postlethwaite powerfully conveyed the father's double-sided nature: at one moment he is tenderly kissing his children goodnight, the next he is ripping the tablecloth off in a rage.

Postlethwaite was...
