Exclusive: Brit Marling Talks Sound of My Voice Blu-ray
Brit Marling in The 2012 Film Independent Spirit Awards (2012)
Brit Marling Talks Sound of My Voice, on Blu-ray and DVD today!

On Blu-ray and DVD this week, Sound of My Voice follows a pair of investigative filmmakers out to expose a cult run by a young woman named Maggie, who claims to be from the future. The film stars Brit Marling, who also co-wrote the script with director Zal Batmanglij. We recently caught up with the actress to chat about the movie, the future, and what it means to be living in these end times.

Here is our conversation.

From since you first wrote this film, to where we are as a culture right now, a lot has changed. History and our social climate are morphing at an expedient rate. Do you think you would have changed anything about the story and where it goes, had you started writing Sound of My Voice today?

Brit Marling: Totally. It's...

New on DVD/Blu-ray: 'Sound of My Voice' Is a Sci-fi Gem; 'Cinderella' Puts on the HD Slipper
New Releases Best of the Week Sound of My Voice - 20th Century Fox - Blu-ray, DVD Release Date: Apr 27, 2012 Director: Zal Batmanglij Cast: Christopher Denham, Nicole Vicius, Brit Marling,Davenia McFadden, Kandice Stroh. Full cast + crew Odd, horror-movie-looking cover art aside, Sound of My Voice is one of this year's hidden genre gems. It's a sci-fi movie in the most intellectual sense, which isn't to say that it's pretentious or boring, just that it trades elaborate effects and set pieces for ideas and dialogue. This is a seemingly simple movie about a couple that decides to infiltrate a cult with the plan of outing their leader as a fake, but the more time they spend with her, the more they buy into her story of...

Sound Of My Voice – The Review
A beautiful woman who claims to be from the future is at the center of Sound Of My Voice, thought-provoking drama that well-captures the strangeness of cults. Peter (Christopher Denham) and Lorna (Nicole Vicius) are aspiring documentarians who live in Los Angeles. He substitute teaches at a Catholic school to pay the bills while she.s an ex-party girl who.s trying to shed her spoiled upbringing. They both want to do something meaningful and they.ve somehow learned about a burgeoning cult in the San Fernando Valley revolving around Maggie (Brit Marling), an enigmatic young woman who claims to be from the year 2054 (evidenced by the number 54 tattooed on her ankle) and has traveled back in time to help the group learn to prepare for the changes that are coming. We meet Peter and Lorna without introduction just as they are infiltrating the cult, being brought blindfolded to the...

Sound of My Voice
In the opening minutes of Zal Batmanglij’s Sound of My Voice, a couple warily pulls into a nondescript suburban garage and awaits further guidance. They are instructed to bathe (“cleanse”) themselves, change into white hospital gowns, and surrender to blindfolds, zip-tied wrists and a claustrophobic van ride to another home nestled in the San Fernando Valley.

The process, one they somehow grow accustomed to, is part of an initiation into the inner circle of their underground cult (literally, since they congregate in a basement). They have been vetted, chosen, and deemed worthy enough to witness Maggie (Brit Marling), an attractive, blond twentysomething who claims to be from the year 2054. She emerges, with an oxygen tank in tow, and tells a harrowing tale of awakening as a stranger in her own body, lost and alone.

Naturally, Maggie’s initial desperation and subsequent discovery resonates with her followers, a group of rejected misfits searching for meaning.
