Amy Adams' 2024 horror-comedy movie is about to have its streaming debut. Adams' first major role was in Steven Spielberg's 2002 movie Catch Me If You Can as Brenda Strong, a naive hospital nurse that Frank Abagnale Jr. (Leonardo DiCaprio) falls in love with, although the relationship is ultimately doomed. More recognition, including Adams' first Academy Award nomination, followed her performance in the 2005 comedy-drama Junebug. In the 2007 musical movie Enchanted, Adams cemented herself as a leading actor through her portrayal of Giselle.
Many of the projects considered Amy Adams' best movies would come in the years that followed, including the science-fiction drama Arrival directed by Denis Villeneuve. Between playing Amelia Earhart in Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, Lois Lane in the DC Extended Universe, and Sister James in the drama Doubt, Adams proved to be an actor who could excel in any genre. “Desperate Housewives” creator Marc Cherry is open to exploring a different era of Wisteria Lane.
In a recent interview with People magazine, Cherry pitched his idea for a prequel to the hit ABC series starring Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross and Eva Longoria.
“I would probably want to do the idea maybe in an earlier decade,” Cherry told the publication. “Because the character I miss writing the most is actually Wisteria Lane. That was the most fun playground anyone in the history of television has ever had, because we owned the whole street. I know that street like the back of my hand. When someone shoots a commercial on that street, I know it instantly, because I know all those houses, I know the geography. It was such a fun place to write for. Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry says there are more than enough ideas for a spinoff of his beloved show — and he has a few ideas on how to make it happen.
“I would probably want to do the idea maybe in an earlier decade,” Cherry — who guesses he’s had “about 70,000 people” ask him to do a reboot of the series — told People. “Because the character I miss writing the most is actually Wisteria Lane. ABC’s Desperate Housewives ran for eight seasons from 2004 to 2012, and won multiple Emmys. The show’s ensemble cast included Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross and Eva Longoria, and told the stories of Wisteria Lane, a street in the fictional town of Fairview, in fictional Eagle State.

During his career, the late Philip Baker Hall was one of the most underrated character actors in Hollywood. Hall's earliest on-screen role came back in 1970, but he gained praise for several "breakout" roles later in life, including an outstanding late-'90s streak that included "Boogie Nights," "Magnolia," and "The Talented Mr. Ripley." By the time of his passing in 2022, everyone seemed to know Hall's great work, even if he wasn't a household name. But according to Hall himself, the world first got to know him by another name that stuck with him for decades: Lieutenant Bookman from "Seinfeld."
Lieutenant Bookman was one of many idiosyncratic characters who stepped through the comedic revolving door that was "Seinfeld." The character, played by Hall, appeared in just two episodes of the hyper-popular sitcom -- season 3's "The Library" and the show's polarizing series finale -- but he made a strong impression. Unprisoned star Kerry Washington says the Hulu series has been canceled after season two.
“Ladies & Gents, that is a wrap on Unprisoned. This beautiful show that we poured so much of our hearts and souls into is unfortunately not coming back for a Season 3,” Washington said on X, formerly Twitter, and Instagram on Friday.
“But I wanted you to hear it from me because while we’re super duper disappointed, we’re also crazy deeply grateful,” she added.
Washington and Delroy Lindo starred in UnPrisoned, a Hulu father-daughter dramedy based on the life of creator Tracy McMillan.
Unprisoned draws from McMillan’s lived experience growing up in the foster care system as her father, Harold, ultimately, spent a total of 37 years incarcerated.
Washington starred as Paige, a McMillan-inspired mother wrestling with abandonment issues resulting from her father, Delroy Lindo’s Edwin, being locked up and her being raised for a...

The Desperate Housewives ending wraps up eight seasons of mysteries in the picture-perfect suburban neighborhood, Wisteria Lane, and the ending answers big questions about what happens to main characters Susan Mayer (Teri Hatcher), Lynette Scavo (Felicity Huffman), Bree Van de Kamp (Marcia Cross), and Gabrielle "Gaby" Solis (Eva Longoria). Although Mary Alice Young's (Brenda Strong) friends have many happy times together, it was clear that the conclusion would be just as emotional as the rest of the series, as most episodes focus on the intense personal lives of the four main residents of this seemingly peaceful street in the small town of Fairview.

Comedy isn’t the first genre most would assign a show about a man getting out of federal prison and reuniting with his family after serving decades behind bars. But humor is the instinctive approach UnPrisoned creator and writer Tracy McMillan took for the Hulu series, which draws from her lived experience growing up in the foster care system as her father, Harold, ultimately, spent a total of 37 years incarcerated.

Desperate Housewives cast is open to returning for a revival, hinting at a potential comeback with original characters front and center. A potential revival would need to honor the show's rich history and original cast, rather than wiping the slate clean for a reboot. Wisteria Lane and its core characters were essential to the show's success, making a comeback without them seem like a pale imitation.

Although these kids do not appear in most episodes, some storylines allow the children of the Enterprise to take center stage. As the youngest member of the main cast, Wil Wheaton's Wesley Crusher featured in many episodes, often helping the senior staff find unconventional solutions to problems.

Starz has axed three existing drama series and one upcoming project.
The network has binned Heels, Run The World and Blindspotting as well as not moving forward with The Venery of Samantha Bird.
Heels, Run The World and Blindspotting all aired two seasons and The Venery of Samantha Bird paused production in May due to the strikes with two episodes left to film.
Heels revolves around the men and women who chase their dreams in the world of small-town pro wrestling. Set in a close-knit Georgia community, it follows a family-owned wrestling promotion as two brothers and rivals (Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig) war over their late father’s legacy. In the ring, somebody must play the good guy and somebody must play their nemesis, the heel. But in the real world, those characters can be hard to live up to — or hard to leave behind.

Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria reveals she would be interested in a revival. The series, created by Marc Cherry, premiered on ABC in 2004 and quickly found success, generating impressive ratings during its eight-season run. It explored the lives of four women residing in a seemingly picture-perfect community while uncovering many of their secrets through the narration of deceased neighbor Mary Alice Young (Brenda Strong). Longoria portrayed Gabrielle Solis, a former model whose complicated marriage to Carlos (Ricardo Antonio Chavira) was an important storyline throughout.
A Desperate Housewives reboot has already been dismissed by several cast members, but Longoria still appears eager to return. In a recent interview with Access, the star shared that she would "be the first to sign up" for a potential revival but admitted that it seems unlikely to happen. Read Longoria's comments regarding a Desperate Housewives revival below:
"She'd be an influencer for sure. She'd be a social media mogul.

“The story itself is just so compelling… it’s all about healing,” shares Caroline B. Marx about what drew her to the new Hulu series “UnPrisoned,” which centers on a daughter attempting to reconcile with her father after his 17-year prison sentence. The costume designer appreciated that the show is “based on reality” — it draws inspiration from the life of creator Tracy McMillan — and that it is “socially relevant.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.
Kerry Washington stars as Paige, a relationship therapist who welcomes her father Edwin (Delroy Lindo) into her home despite the effects his incarceration had on her as a child. Marx collaborated closely with the actress to pick the color palate of Paige’s fashion, which McMillan had described to her as “Minneapolis but by way of Brooklyn.” The creator conceived of Paige as a “hipster but she’s adulting now,” but Tracy herself “doesn’t wear color at all,...

Exclusive: Starz’ The Venery of Samantha Bird has shut down production as a result of the writers strike.
Deadline understands that the drama series has paused filming with two episodes of its eight episode order left to shoot. The series shoots in Montreal.
It comes after Netflix’s Rob Lowe comedy series Unstable and HBO Max’s Hacks were shut down for similar reasons and writers rooms for shows such as Starz’ Power Book III: Raising Kanan, NBC’s Night Court, Netflix’s Cobra Kai, Showtime’s Yellowjackets and ABC’s Abbott Elementary also closed their writing rooms.
The series stars Katherine Langford in the title role and was created by Anna Moriarty.
It follows Samantha Bird, who, while visiting family in New England, Samantha Bird reconnects with her childhood sweetheart and falls headlong into a seemingly perfect storybook romance. But underneath their fever dream lurks a more unsettling interpretation of this affair.

After playing Kimberly Shaw in “Melrose Place” and Bree Van de Kamp in “Desperate Housewives,” Marcia Cross is ready for her next iconic role.
“I always assumed that after ‘Desperate Housewives’ there will be a third act. It has not happened yet. That’s the double-edged sword of being an ‘icon.’ Everybody thinks you are that character and by the time they forget about it, you are not on anybody’s list anymore,” she said at Series Mania in Lille, France.
“I am at this funny crossroad: I am this incredibly ripe human and yet Hollywood is not particularly interested. We are tackling LGBTQ+ issues, although there is still a long way to go, we are talking about people of color, but – and I hate to say it – we don’t love to see older women. We were 40-year-old women doing ‘Dh’ and that was a big deal. Now, I want to see 60-year-old women.

Like any good shrink, Hulu’s UnPrisoned begins by meeting its characters where they are, and where they are at first seems to be an odd-couple comedy. Paige (Kerry Washington) is a therapist whose Instagram-friendly polish masks a messy personal life; her father, Edwin (Delroy Lindo), is a natural charmer fresh off a 17-year prison sentence. It doesn’t take a relationship expert to foresee the battles to come over old grudges, new boundaries or Paige’s teenage son Finn (Faly Rakotohavana) — and indeed, most of them come to pass over the season’s eight episodes.
But also like a good shrink, UnPrisoned has no interest in sticking to the surface. It wants to dig and dig and dig, all the way down to the kinds of formative childhood traumas that take a lifetime to unpack. The journey isn’t always a pleasant one; the contrast between the series’ bubbly...

“I’ve got one daughter, and you’ve got one daddy,” Edwin (Delroy Lindo) reminds his daughter Paige (Kerry Washington) in the trailer for the new Hulu series “UnPrisoned.” Their relationship is at the heart of the comedy, in which they reunite after Edwin spent 17 years in prison on drug charges. Based on writer and executive producer Tracy McMillan’s own life, the show will chronicle how that reunion unfolds and the impact Edwin has on Paige and her son, Finn (Faly Rakotohavana), when he moves in with them. All ten episodes premiere on Friday, March 10. Watch the full trailer above.

Starz has added seven more to the cast of its forthcoming drama, “The Venery of Samantha Bird,” including Finn Jones, Francesca Reale, Embeth Davidtz, Brenda Strong, Adam Faison, Tyrone Marshall Brown and Shalini Bathina.
The new batch of series regulars joins previously announced star Katherine Langford, who will portray the show’s titular character.
The eight-episode drama follows Samantha Bird (Langford) who, while visiting family in New England, reconnects with her childhood sweetheart and falls headlong into a seemingly perfect storybook romance. But the couple’s picture-perfect love story isn’t as sweet as it seems on the surface.
Jones will play Jake Minot, Samantha’s former childhood sweetheart. While it’s been some time since the two has seen each other, they still manage to pick up like no time has passed after they reconnect during her trip.
Reale (“Stranger Things”) will play Ellie Bird, Samantha’s confident, intelligent and pleasantly outspoken youngest sister.

Several now famous actors had brief appearances in the 2002 drama Catch Me If You Can, including Jennifer Garner in a notable scene with Frank Abagnale (Leonardo DiCaprio). The film follows Frank's con artist lifestyle as he pretends to have various careers, and he encounters people along his journey, including Garner's character. The Catch Me If You Can cast features many future stars, including Amy Adams as Frank's fiance Brenda Strong, Elizabeth Banks as Marcy, and Ellen Pompeo as Marci, among others. Directed by Steven Spielberg, the movie's cast is rounded out by Tom Hanks, James Brolin, Martin Sheen, and Christopher Walken.
While this wasn't her first movie role, as she played Wanda in Dude, Where's My Car in 2000 and Nurse Sandra in Pearl Harbor in 2001, Garner's casting came before her breakout character Jenna Rink in 2004's 13 Going On 30. Desperate Housewives has a shockingly high body count. The comedy-drama, set on the iconic fictional street Wisteria Lane, ran for eight seasons on ABC from 2004 until 2012. Created by Marc Cherry, Desperate Housewives focuses on a series of mysteries affecting the families who live on Wisteria Lane through the lens of Mary Alice Young (Starship Troopers' Brenda Strong), who dies by suicide in the pilot episode, and acts as the narrator for the rest of the show. The show features an impressive ensemble cast, including Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, and Eva Longoria as the titular housewives.
Desperate Housewives was not only known for its impressive cast but also for its series of mysteries, which led to an impressive body count by the time the final episode was broadcast. Unfortunately, for many of the show's characters, very few deaths were due to natural causes. Instead, most of them can be attributed to serial killers,...

Teri Hatcher is currently starring as Morticia Adams in a production of The Addams Family, according to Playbill. This is a very different role from Hatcher's Desperate Housewives sweet mother and artist Susan Mayer, who lives on idyllic yet creepy Wisteria Lane with her best friends. The show did a great job proving that life in suburbia is not always perfect, and everyone has secrets that they don't wish to share with those close to them. For 8 seasons, Lynette Scavo (Felicity Huffman), Gabrielle Solis (Eva Longoria), Susan, and Bree Van de Kamp (Marcia Cross) mourn their late friend Mary Alice Young (Brenda Strong) and deal with different kinds of drama.
Many Desperate Housewives episodes have gotten high ratings on IMDb, and the best episodes include wild moments but also compelling shifts in the friendships and relationships that the main characters have.
