Seth Meyers went on an epic Boy Meets World rant on his show Late Night with Seth Meyers, and didn't hold back that Topanga Lawrence (Danielle Fishel) made a mistake by proposing to Cory Matthews (Ben Savage) during their high school graduation. Boy Meets World originally ran on ABC for seven seasons between 1993 and 2000 and followed Cory growing up. One of the main storylines of the show was his relationship with Topanga, showing them growing closer together and eventually getting married.
During the "A Closer Look" segment on Late Night with Seth Meyers, the host reacted to a social media post from Vivek Ramaswamy, which said, "A culture that venerates Cory from 'Boy Meets World,' or Zack & Slater over Screech in 'Saved by the Bell,' or 'Stefan' over Steve Urkel in 'Family Matters,' will not produce the best engineers." Mike Myers says you can’t just make a catchphrase happen. “I’ve never designed a catchphrase. I just like how people talk,” Myers told Vulture late last year. “Remember ‘Get in my belly?’ That was improv. It wasn’t, ‘Ladies and gentlemen, my next catchphrase.’”
But Jaleel White says the producers of Family Matters were intent on creating a signature slogan for his Urkel character. “They tried a million darn catchphrases,” he told Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong and Will Friedle on the Pod Meets World podcast, per People.
It took a while to get to “Did I do that?” White said — and some of the early stabs were pretty lame. “The first one that they ever tried really was Steve would just bump into inanimate objects — an end table or a lamp, knock it over and say, ‘Excuse me.’ That was it.”
Er, easy to see why that one didn’t catch on.

The cast of Boy Meets World candidly reacts to Mr. Turner's one-sentence sendoff. Played by Anthony Tyler Quinn, the character of Jonathan Turner was important in the early seasons of the family sitcom. Appearing in 51 episodes, which went from season 2 to season 4, Turner develops a fatherly relationship with Shawn Hunter (Rider Strong). It makes it all the more jarring when Mr. Turner is abruptly written off the show after getting into a motorcycle accident, with Quinn not reprising the role until the spinoff Girl Meets World.
With the rewatch podcast Pod Meets World revisiting the season 5 finale "Graduation", which features a joke about the fact that Mr. Turner wanders a part of the school that the protagonists never visit along with other disappeared supporting characters. Danielle Fishel (Topanga) and Will Friedle (Eric) reacted to the Mr. Turner joke, along with Strong, and they shared mixed feelings. While they acknowledged that it was funny,...

The '90s was a complicated time to be a TV teen. While the kids of "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "Melrose Place" were entrenched in constant scandalous teen drama, a gentler, more family-friendly version of teen life was drawing in audiences on ABC. "Boy Meets World" ran for an impressive 158 episodes, from 1993 to 2000, and remains a pop cultural touchstone — albeit not quite as potent of one as its cattier primetime counterparts — to this day.
Like every memorable sitcom, "Boy Meets World" knew how to pick a guest star, and several of the actors who showed up across its seven-season run went on to be pretty dang famous. In a few cases, people who were already big-name actors at the time also dropped in on the kids of John Adams High. If you watched the show at a young age, though, you'd be forgiven for not recognizing the industry veterans and...

Danica McKellar has good news for those who didn’t like the original ending of “The Wonder Years” — things may have changed! The actor, who played Winnie Cooper on the sitcom from 1988 to 1993, opened up about how she views the controversial ending.
In the final episode, which aired May 12, 1993, the narrator revealed that Kevin Arnold (Fred Savage) and Winnie did not end up together, despite their on-again off-again relationship throughout the series. She went to Paris to get her art degree and Kevin got married to someone else, but the pair remained friends.
“Fans still get upset about it,” McKellar said on the Nov. 25 episode of “Pod Meets World.” She explained that often in the show, “everything didn’t all work out in the end,” which was a way to be relatable to the audience.

For many tweens and teens growing up in the mid-to-late-1990s, Friday nights meant a bucket of popcorn and sitting down in front of the TV for a night of ABC's "Tgif" programming lineup. Shows like "Sabrina the Teenage Witch," "Sister, Sister," and "Boy Meets World" catered to teens while still being family-friendly enough for primetime network TV, but occasionally they delved into topics that were a little more adult to actually have something to say to their teen audiences. "Boy Meets World" eventually ended up in syndication on The Disney Channel, along with several other "Tgif" favorites, but there were three episodes that originally aired on ABC that Disney Channel refused to air themselves.

Tonight, on a very special episode of Boy Meets World, Shawn gets crunk…Boy Meets World, like many sitcoms (especially of the Disney-backed Tgif variety), had its share of episodes that took on serious issues, hitting on everything from child abuse to teenage sex to cults. But one episode that still sticks with Rider Strong is “If You Can’t Be With the One You Love”, which focused on Shawn Hunter developing an alcohol dependency, something he doesn’t think the show handled well at all.
As Rider Strong remembered of the season five episode of Pod Meets World (the Boy Meets World rewatch podcast he co-hosts), Shawn was seeing “having a good time with Cory and doing handstands and peeing on cop cars and just, like, woohoo, fun loving. In a recent episode of the “Pod Meets World” rewatch podcast, actor Rider Strong talked about how uncomfortable he was with a controversial “Boy Meets World” episode that dealt with teen drinking and addiction. He said that he had deep worries about how the show portrayed alcohol abuse.
During the show’s fifth season, Strong’s character Shawn Hunter and Ben Savage’s character Cory Matthews both had problems with drinking in the episode that Disney eventually banned. Strong said his performance was “half-assing it,” which showed he was very uncomfortable with how the episode dealt with a serious issue.
The episode, “If You Can’t Be With the One You Love,” starts with Cory drinking after breaking up with Topanga. It then moves on to Shawn’s drinking problems, which are caused by his family’s history of alcoholism. Strong didn’t like how the episode’s sudden changes...

Boy Meets World actor Rider Strong recalled one particular episode that made him “very uncomfortable” and “so miserable” to film.
In a recent episode of Pod Meets World — the rewatch podcast dedicated to the ’90s sitcom co-hosted by Strong, Danielle Fishel and Will Friedle — the trio discussed an alcohol-themed episode that was eventually banned from airing by Disney for its mature content. Strong, in particular, found the episode to be a watered-down warning message about alcoholism that ended up being more of a “disservice.”
“I’m just half-assing it this entire episode,” he began. “I’m so miserable.”
Strong continued, “I was probably 17 the first time I tried alcohol, so it was probably right before this. But I remember Ben [Savage] and I talking about, like, ‘How do you play drunk?’ and having conversations about it. And he nails it. He’s so good at it.”

Jennifer Love Hewitt was killed off in an episode of Boy Meets World because of her real-life relationship with series star Will Friedle (Eric Matthews). Hewitt appeared in the 1998 episode "And Then There Was Shawn," where the characters were locked in John Adams High School, while a killer was hunting them. Just like almost everyone else in the episode, the killer murders Hewitt's character (although it was later revealed that the entire episode was a dream).
On the Pod Meets World podcast, Friedle discusses the episode with fellow Boy Meets World stars Rider Strong (Shawn Hunter) and Danielle Fishel (Topanga Lawrence). As reported by /Film on January 4, 2017, the Disney Channel canceled "Girl Meets World" after three seasons. Upon completing production on the show's third season, the "Girl Meets World" cast and crew had been patiently waiting to hear whether or not their series would be renewed for a fourth go-round. Instead, the show's aptly-titled season 3 finale, "Girl Meets Goodbye," became forever known as the final episode.

Children's TV shows of the 1990s weren't afraid to get quite scary and intense, with many standout episodes of beloved series leaving a lasting impression in the form of nightmares. The 90s were quite an interesting time for children's media, with loosened restrictions on what networks could get away with leading to some very experimental episodes of TV. While modern kids' shows can be quite scary, the childhoods of millennials are filled with particularly horrifying TV scenes that still cause bad dreams even today.
Interestingly enough, it wasn't strictly the explicitly horror-themed series that got quite terrifying in the 90s. Horror anthology TV shows made for kids like Goosebumps and Are You Afraid of the Dark? may have seen an increase in popularity this decade, but standard children's fare like cartoons or tween dramas could get just as frightening. The Cabin Fever pancakes scene might be the strangest in the Eli Roth debut horror movie, and it still makes very little sense all these years later. Roth has had a varied directorial career, and whether one loves or hates his films, it's hard to deny that they're usually at least memorable. That began with Cabin Fever (2002), a bizarre blend of horror and comedy. One minute, a character shaves their leg's skin off due to a terrifying flesh-eating virus; the next, Roth makes a cameo as a stoner. The tone of Cabin Fever is all over the place.
How much of that odd sensibility was informed by Roth himself becomes quite apparent when watching the 2016 Cabin Fever remake, which stuck to the original very closely but seemed to lack any of its charm or heart. As much weirdness as can be found in Cabin Fever, the award for the oddest scene goes to the "Pancakes!

If you're a reader of a certain age, there's a chance you grew up watching "Boy Meets World." The coming-of-age comedy lasted for seven seasons, and audiences were able to watch Cory and Eric Matthews, Shawn Hunter, Topanga Lawrence, and Angela Moore transition from childhood into adulthood, all under the watchful eye of their parental figures and their collective mentor, Mr. Feeny. Years after the show's end, "Boy Meets World" returned for a new generation as "Girl Meets World," focusing on the daughter of Cory and Topanga, Riley, and her mischievous friend Maya Hart, played by pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter. The reignited love of the series inspired the iHeartPodcasts network to launch "Pod Meets World," a retrospective series where the show's stars Danielle Fishel (Topanga Lawrence/Matthews), Will Friedle (Eric Matthews), and Rider Strong (Shawn Hunter) revisit each episode.

“Boy Meets World” star Danielle Fishel opened up on the latest episode of her “Pod Meets World” podcast about being diagnosed with breast cancer at 43 years old.
“I was recently diagnosed with Dcis, which stands for Ductal carcinoma in situ, which is a form of breast cancer,” she said at the start of the Aug. 19 episode. “It’s very very very early, it’s technically stage zero.”
Fishel went on to explain she was diagnosed with “high-grade Dcis with micro-invasion” and is planning to have surgery to remove it.
“I’ve had to make a lot of decisions over the last couple of days,” she said before adding that at first she only planned on telling her immediate family and friends but no one else. Nearly 25 years later, Danielle Fishel is wishing Topanga had said, “I don’t.”
On a recent episode of the Pod Meets World podcast, the actress admitted that she didn’t think Cory Matthews (Ben Savage) and Topanga Lawrence’s (Fishel) wedding on the 1999 Boy Meets World episode ‘It’s About Time’ was “the right choice” for the show.
“I know from my just my memories of it, after we were married, feeling like, well, now we’re married, and they had to come up with new, like, upping the stakes for us,” she said. “And I remember not loving those stakes.”
As the wedding episode happened a quarter of the way through the show’s seventh and final season, Fishel believes the show “could have gotten more mileage out of them being together, but not yet married” while the characters were still in college.

Will Friedle and Rider Strong are detailing their first conversation with Drake Bell following the release of Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV earlier this year.
The Boy Meets World alums had written letters of support for Brian Peck, a former dialogue coach, during his 2004 case, where he was ultimately convicted of sexually assaulting a Nickelodeon child star, who remained unnamed at the time. Peck spent 16 months in prison and had to register as a sex offender.
Friedle and Strong revealed in a February episode of their Pod Meets World podcast — after learning that Investigation Discovery’s docuseries was being made — that they had been close friends with Peck at the time and were asked to write character letters in his defense. Will Friedle and Rider Strong, who wrote letters of support for Brian Peck in his 2003 case against Drake Bell, have spoken out for the first time following the release of the “Quiet on Set” documentary.
At the time, Peck was accused of sexually abusing a then-unnamed, underage teen. Both Friedle and Strong had been close friends with him and were asked to write character letters in his defense, something they revealed during a February episode of their podcast after getting a call that a documentary was being made. One month later, the “Quiet on Set” trailer revealed that Bell was the 15-year-old victim who was assaulted by 43-year-old Peck.
While Friedle was in the courtroom, neither he nor Strong were aware that Bell was the victim, they said during the June 20 episode of their “Pod Meets World” podcast.
“I’m sitting in the back of the courtroom. There’s no social media.

What we haven’t done too much of is the good old-fashioned cult. While we took a deep dive into Jim Jones and the tragedy of Jonestown paired with the very well-done Sacrament, there are a ton of real-life cults and cult leaders that have been put to celluloid in an attempt to both cash in and tell a compelling story. I mean, I’m writing this right now on the couch while my wife watches a documentary about a cult on Netflix. True crime and religious cult stuff exist in popular forms like podcasts, shows, and of course movies too. Today we will look at two things that don’t get a lot of widespread attention. “We’re hearing calls for federal legislation,” series co-director Mary Robertson tells The Hollywood Reporter when talking about next steps. “At the moment there is no federal legislation that governs children who work in entertainment, or that regulates children working in entertainment.”
The bonus episode, hosted by Soledad O’Brien, delves deeper into the claims surrounding Dan Schneider and the Nickelodeon series he created and ran. The formerly prolific kids TV producer has faced allegations of abuse, sexism, racism and inappropriate behavior involving underage stars and crewmembers on his shows since the release of the two-part docuseries on March 17 and 18. Directed by Mary Robertson and Emma Schwartz, Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV brought out the ugly side of kids’ television during the ’90s and ’00s to light. In the five-part docuseries, Drake Bell, who rose to prominence following the success of Nickelodeon’s Drake & Josh, shed light on his s-xual trauma, suffered at the hands of convicted s-x offender Brian Peck.
Bell also spoke at length about the actors who signed in support of Peck during the 2004 trial, which included Cabin Fever star Rider Strong. But with the actor finally moving past this traumatic experience, he took to X to share that he has made peace with the actor.

Drake Bell is healing alongside Rider Strong.
Strong, who became close friends with dialogue coach Brian Peck after meeting on “Boy Meets World,” was one of the many actors who wrote a letter in defense of Peck’s character when Bell accused him of sexual assault in 2003.
At the time, the victim of the assault was listed as John Doe, but Bell came forward revealing it was him in Investigation Discovery’s “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV.”
Now, more than 20 years later, Bell and Strong have connected. “I just had the most amazing conversation with @RiderStrong we are all healing together. I have nothing but love and forgiveness for him,” Bell posted on X on Friday.
The tweet comes less than a month after the “Drake & Josh” star called out Strong via social media. “Rider Was 24 years old when he wrote the letter and was...
