Kowloon Generic Romance Anime & Live-Action Adaptions Are Meant To Be Watched Together As Its Interconnected, Reveals Producer
Kowloon Generic Romance (2025)
In a recent interview with Mantan Web, producer Ryoya Arisawa revealed that the anime and live-action adaptations of Kowloon Generic Romance were planned as companion pieces from the very beginning.

According to him, both versions are designed to be watched together, offering two sides of the same story and forming a complete viewing experience.

“Our company has long been involved in Japanese live-action films. While I primarily work in anime, I’ve also handled tokusatsu projects, and through that connection, I’ve worked with director Koichi Sakamoto on late-night dramas. In recent years, we’ve seen more successes that span both live-action and anime, but projects that are truly linked are still rare. As a viewer, that always left me feeling unsatisfied. I wondered...

Everything We Know About Characters With Super Abilities in Sakamoto Days
Image
This article contains spoilers for the Sakamoto Days anime and manga.

Superhuman abilities are strangely common in Sakamoto Days, although this popular shonen comedy anime doesn't really touch on magic, nor does it place a direct focus on supernatural powers. Regardless, with the number of characters that possess ridiculously remarkable (and humanly impossible) quirks, it might as well be another anime about superheroes.

Most of the superpowers seen in Sakamoto Days thus far result from a character’s innate talent and hard work, as most of them are prodigies with insane gifts or have been trained at Japan Clear Creation (Jcc) to hone their skills until they become assassins capable of going toe-to-toe with My Hero Academia’s All Might.

10 Old Mecha Anime Better Than Most Modern Series
Image
At one point, mecha was the dominant genre for anime series. The genre had franchises for both children and adults, and they were constantly getting new series. One reason there were so many mecha anime is how easy the genre can sell merchandise, yet that wasn't the only reason. Some of the best anime of older eras were part of the mecha genre, making them impossible to ignore.

Even now, many of the mecha anime from the '80s, '90s, and 2000s are better than most modern anime series today. Rather than offering easy power fantasies about being the strongest or more popular, mecha anime often had far more to offer. Whether it was commentary on society or just passionate protagonists that are easy to love, it's impossible to go wrong with classic mecha anime.

Sakamoto Days' Biggest Problem Is Also the Reason Why Its So Good
Image
This article discusses Episodes 1-6 of the Sakamoto Days anime and will contain spoilers.

Sakamoto Days is Winter 2025’s hit comedy anime of the season, featuring a main character who joins the long list of super-powered shōnen protagonists: Taro Sakamoto. He is a man who absolutely cannot be felled because of his ridiculous strength and hunter-like instincts—skills that earned him the title of “the legendary hitman.” Unfortunately, the novelty of Sakamoto’s overpowered nature might wear away over time, as it's already a prevalent element in every episode.

There is peak comedy and entertainment found in the excitement of Sakamoto’s fight scenes, but—as seen with most power-leveling anime — the gimmick of infallible and overpowered characters can grow old quickly. Regardless, Sakamoto's status of always being the strongest person in the room is a running gag that can sprint for smiles, because it is exactly why anime fans love Sakamoto Days so much.

10 Strongest Anime Characters Jinwoo Could Make His Shadows in Solo Leveling
Image
Sung Jinwoo gained the Shadow Extraction ability at the end of Solo Leveling's first season, and if given the opportunity, Jinwoo could use it to turn some of anime's strongest characters into Shadows. These Shadows fight on Jinwoo's behalf, but he can only turn other living beings into Shadows by killing them first. That said, there are limitations, so it would be best for Jinwoo to target powerful human characters.

These characters may be human, but most possess superhuman abilities that they should still keep, even after becoming Shadows. These characters can help Jinwoo fight the Monarchs, Dungeon monsters and other Hunters. Some of these characters are strong enough to take on S-Rank opponents and Monarchs on their own. Jinwoo's Shadows can regenerate, so as long as he has mana, he can keep summoning them.

Sakamoto Days Is Finally Here, And the Anime Just Brought a John Wick Rumor to Life
Image
After much anticipation, the hit manga Sakamoto Days has finally made its way to the screen, bringing with it all the charm, humor, and intense action fans have come to adore. In its very first episode, the anime wastes no time in delivering a moment that has the internet buzzing. Taro Sakamoto, the retired hitman turned humble convenience store owner, recalls his deadly past in a sequence that feels straight out of a John Wick film. A brief yet thrilling scene shows Sakamoto imagining dispatching a man with nothing but a pencil, a direct nod to one of John Wick's most legendary moments.

This unexpected homage has ignited speculation about whether Sakamoto Days will continue to draw from the stylized action and dark humor of Keanu Reeves' iconic franchise. With its blend of quirky slice-of-life antics and lethal combat, the anime has already established itself as a unique contender in the action-comedy genre.

Anime Romance isn't for Everyone, But These 7 Grounded Series Will Turn Even the Strictest Skeptics into Mega Fans
Image
Romance anime series can be some of the most fun, heart-warming, and entertaining in the genre. Unfortunately, some of them are marred by boring, inappropriate, or otherwise unrealistic tropes that take a viewer completely out of the experience. Some of these series have great characters and well-written plots, but give their main heroes a harem chasing after them that takes the show to a completely different place. While there are plenty of series that can fit into this category, there are still many anime shows with realistic plot lines that any romance enjoyer can appreciate.

To be a realistic romance anime, a series doesn't necessarily need to be realistic in and of itself. The most important aspects of any romance series are the relationships within it. No matter how outlandish or silly a premise is, with grounded and realistic relationships that form organically, any series can capture the affections of...

Tomokazu Sugita Almost Rejected Sakamoto’s Role in Sakamoto Days Anime—Here’s Why!
Image
In a recent interview with Comic Natalie, voice actor Tomikazu Sugita opened up about his initial hesitation to take on the lead role of Sakamoto in Sakamoto Days anime.

His reason? A sense of déjà vu tied to his past work.

Sugita admitted that while he was aware of the manga’s buzz as a rising Weekly Shonen Jump hit, he was hesitant to take on the role due to similarities with a character he had played before.

“I had already played a protagonist in a similar position in a Jump anime before, so I had that in mind, and it felt a bit like déjà vu.“

When the audition opportunity arose, he initially focused on another character, Kashima. However, his agency strongly encouraged him to also consider Sakamoto.

“When I received the audition information for Sakamoto Days, I showed the character materials for a character named Kashima to my agency staff,...
