“I don’t give a f**k what it is”: Sylvester Stallone Originally Thought Eye of the Tiger “Doesn’t have balls” to be a Rocky 3 Song
Image
Apart from starring a Hollywood legend like Sylvester Stallone and featuring some of the finest action-packed, adrenaline-inducing fight scenes, the Rocky franchise is also known for having some of the most incredible musical scores. Yet it is the official soundtrack of the third movie. Rocky III’s Eye of the Tiger that towers over all the other songs.

A still from Survivor’s Eye of the Tiger music video

A Grammy-winning, Oscar, Golden Globe, and BAFTA-nominated single, Eye of the Tiger has had an amazing run on countless music charts as well. Not only did it dominate the music scene back in the day but it also made the band Survivor a legend. However, Frankie Sullivan and Jim Peterik would have never gotten the golden opportunity for Stallone initially though the song did not have balls!

Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky 3 Never Wanted Eye of the Tiger: Original Choice Was a Queen Song That’d Have Ruined the $270M Movie
Image
Following the journey of boxer Rocky Balboa, Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky franchise stands as some of his most renowned work across his extensive career. After the success of the original 1976 film, the action star reprised his role in multiple films under the franchise, facing off various opponents in the boxing ring. The third film in the series featured Rocky Balboa going off against one of the most iconic adversaries of the franchise, Clubber Lang, portrayed by Mr. T.

Sylvester Stallone as Rocky Balboa

The film was a huge hit, grossing, $270 million at the box office. And its theme song, Eye of the Tiger by the rock band Survivor, has become one of the most notable aspects of the film. However, it was not what the makers initially wanted for the movie, as they originally aimed to feature Queen’s Another One Bites the Dust.

Flashback: Survivor Perform ‘Eye of the Tiger’ With Both Lead Singers in 2013
Image
Rumors of a Van Halen super tour with both David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar fronting the band circulated frequently during the past few years, often egged on by Hagar himself. But it wasn’t until after Eddie Van Halen died that the world learned that the trek was actually in the planning stages just about two years ago.

“At a certain point it turned into what we joked as the Kitchen Sink Tour,” Wolfgang Van Halen recently told Howard Stern. “Cause after [my dad] was Ok with that arrangement, it was like,...

I Bury The Living

Shout! Factory

1958 / B&W / 1:85 / / 76 min. / Street Date April 25, 2017

Starring: Richard Boone, Theodore Bikel.

Cinematography: Frederick Gately

Film Editor: Frank Sullivan

Written by Louis Garfinkle

Produced by Albert Band, Louis Garfinkle

Directed by Albert Band

I Bury the Living implicates us in a primal childhood thought-crime… what if you stepped on a crack and really did break your mother’s back? What if simply wishing someone dead made it so? Guilt, pure and simple, gives this off–kilter 50’s chiller its lasting power.

The film boasts an off–kilter leading man as well with the crater-faced Richard Boone as Robert Kraft, a small town business man railroaded into managing the family run cemetery. To make matters worse, the perennially gloomy Kraft, already skittish about his disconcerting new position, is saddled with a decrepit, unnaturally chilly workplace watched over by an unnerving bit of decoration, an...

'The CW' Lists Fall 2016 Schedule: 'Supergirl' Arrives, 'Supernatural' Moves
The CW has a "super" new lineup for Fall 2016-2017, including the arrival of "Supergirl," which appears to be making a smooth transition from CBS on the same night and time, plus "Supernatural" moving once again for Season 12, this time back to Thursdays. The network really wants to keep fans on their toes with that show (which also has new showrunners). Whatever. Fans will follow it wherever it goes, even if it gets traded to CBS like a network fantasy league.

The president of The CW, Mark Pedowitz, issued a statement with the schedule release:

"We have four terrific additions to our schedule next season, and five great anchors at eight o'clock, every night of the week. [...] We are thrilled to have Supergirl on The CW this fall, joining our popular roster of DC heroes. Plus, we have three new series lined up for next season that perfectly fit our brand,...

Newt Gingrich Settling Lawsuit Over Use of 'Eye of the Tiger' (Exclusive)
Dee Snider at an event for Anvil: The Story of Anvil (2008)
As more musicians including Twister Sister frontman Dee Snider and Los Angeles rock band Silversun Pickups continue to object to Republican candidates using their songs in campaign rallies, no legal clarity on the subject is forthcoming. That's because in the only ongoing lawsuit over whether an Ascap blanket license covers the use of music on the campaign trail -- a dispute between Survivor member Frankie Sullivan and former Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich over the use of the Rocky III hit song "Eye of the Tiger" -- the parties have informed an Illinois federal court that they are completing documentation of a

On Wednesday, Mitt Romney was served with a cease-and-desist letter from a band called Silversun Pickups for using their big hit "Panic Switch" at campaign rallies. Romney has battled such musicians as K’naan and Al Green over use of songs. Before that, Newt Gingrich was hit with a lawsuit from Survivor guitarist Frankie Sullivan. Before that, Michele Bachmann received an unpleasant letter from Tom Petty. And on and on... But just how close are the notes of discord

Newt Fights 'Eye Of The Tiger' Lawsuit
Newt Gingrich
Republican presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich asked a federal judge Monday to dismiss the pending lawsuit filed by the co-writer of "Eye of the Tiger," demanding the candidate stop playing the song at campaign events.

In a defense filing received by U.S. District Court in Chicago, Gingrich denies any wrongdoing, arguing that the recordings constituted fair use and questioning the suit's jurisdiction, NBC Chicago reports.

The suit was formally filed by Rude Music, Inc., an Illinois corporation owned by Survivor band member Frankie Sullivan.

Sullivan's bandmate, Jim Peterik, who helped co-write the song, has spoken out against the lawsuit.

"My stance is that we wrote this song as a motivational anthem, right? And music is supposed to do a job; and if it can motivate people to get out and vote, and shake them out of the doldrums to get out to the polls, then it's doing its job," Peterik told Fox Chicago.

Gingrich Sued Over Campaign Music
Newt Gingrich
The record company that owns the rights to Survivor's 1982 smash hit, "The Eye of the Tiger," is suing Gop presidential candidate Newt Gingrich for allegedly using the song repeatedly over the past four years without permission, TMZ reports.

The suit, filed in Illinois by Rude Music Inc. on Monday, claims that Gingrich used the song during appearances at the Conservative Political Action Conference in 2009, 2010 and 2011, as well as 2010's Southern Republican Leadership Conference. Rmi also claims that Gingrich has played the music at at least one campaign event, according to TMZ.
