Lindsay Lohan Makes Surprise Appearance at ‘Mean Girls’ Premiere
Image
Lindsay Lohan looked so fetch while making a surprise appearance at the “Mean Girls” premiere in New York City on Monday night.

The original “Mean Girls” star celebrated the premiere of the musical movie with writer-producer Tina Fey, who reprises her role as Ms. Norbury from the 2004 comedy classic, and Angourie Rice, who takes on the lead role of Cady Heron.

Lohan and Fey were joined by original cast members Daniel Franzese, who starred as Damian, and Rajiv Surendra, who played rapping mathlete Kevin Gnapoor.

Will any of them make a cameo in the film? “I couldn’t possibly say, but we do have some fun cameos,” Fey told Variety on the pink carpet. “Ashley Park is in the movie, Tim [Meadows] is in the movie — we have some fun influencer friends. But you’ll just have to come see it this Friday.”

Rachel McAdams Gives a Very Regina George Response for Why She Didn’t Appear in the Mean Girls Reunion Ad
Image
Last month, cast members from 2004’s Mean Girls — including Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried, Lacey Chabert, and more — reunited for a series of Walmart commercials, but one person was notably missing: the one-time leader of The Plastics herself, Rachel McAdams. Now, in a new interview, McAdams has offered a perfectly Regina George-esque explanation for her absence.

“I don’t know; I guess I wasn’t that excited about doing a commercial if I’m being totally honest,” she revealed to Variety. “A movie sounded awesome, but I’ve never done commercials, and it just didn’t feel like my bag.”

Continuing, McAdams clarified that she was unaware of the “reunion” angle of the ads. “I didn’t know that everyone was doing it,” she said. “I would, of course, always love to be part of a Mean Girls reunion and hang with my plastics, but yeah, I found that out later.

Lacey Chabert on ‘Mean Girls’ Reunion for Walmart Ads: “Full-Circle Moment”
Image
Lacey Chabert, who starred as Gretchen Wieners in 2004’s Mean Girls, is opening up about her reunion with former co-stars Lindsay Lohan and Amanda Seyfried for Walmart’s Black Friday ads.

The actress told Yahoo Entertainment, in an interview published online Wednesday, that filming the commercials “was even more fun than it looked.”

“It was a really special day to be with Lindsay and Amanda again and to reminisce about the experience we had together, which is just so unique, and to catch up with each other,” Chabert added. “We’re all moms now! It was really a full-circle moment.”

Walmart recruited much of the original cast, including Lohan, Seyfried, Chabert, Daniel Franzese and Rajiv Surendra, to star in a Black Friday marketing campaign. Throughout the month of November, the retail giant is releasing new commercials featuring the cast every Wednesday leading up to Black Friday and Cyber Monday on Nov.

Lacey Chabert’s Gretchen Wieners Is Trying to Be the Cool Mom in Another ‘Mean Girls’ Walmart Ad
Image
Lacey Chabert’s Gretchen Wieners is back for another Mean Girls Walmart Black Friday ad.

The new ad spot (below) sees Gretchen’s new clique that she formed after her days at North Shore High School: the Wieners household.

“I am so getting you white gold hoop earrings for Hanukkah,” she says to her teen daughter. “What gold? It’s giving 2004,” her daughter replies before Chabert quickly cuts in, “Irregardless, I don’t think your grandfather, the inventor of Toaster Strudel, would be too pleased to hear you using that tone with me.”

Later, Chabert also tried to make “bop” happen, while listening to ‘Milkshake’: “Throwback Wednesday! I love this song. What a bop.” But her daughter was not having it, telling her mom, “Please don’t say bop.”

The commercial references several memorable lines from the original 2004 film, including Amanda Seyfried’s Karen Smith making an appearance to ask Chabert,...

Why Rachel McAdams Was Missing From The Mean Girls Reunion
Image
The Mean Girls reunion commercial features Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert, but Rachel McAdams is notably missing. Mean Girls has become a cultural phenomenon, with a successful film, a made-for-tv sequel, and a Broadway musical-turned-movie. The Walmart commercial serves as a mini-sequel, with Lohan's character as a guidance counselor, and includes various references to the original film and cameos from other cast members.

A recent Mean Girls reunion has fans wondering why Rachel McAdams was missing from the on-screen get-together. Ahead of Black Friday, the annual post-Thanksgiving day of shopping deals, Walmart released a clever advertisement that served as a mini reunion for a number of Mean Girls cast members. Featuring Lindsay Lohan, who played fish-out-of-water teenage protagonist Cady Heron in the film, the commercial blends some of the movie's most memorable jokes with its holiday shopping premise. While both Amanda Seyfried and Lacey Chabert, who played the...

Rachel McAdams absent from Mean Girls reunion
Image
Rachel McAdams is apparently not interested in making “fetch” happen, and she is one of the core Mean Girls cast members to not return for a recent Black Friday ad for Walmart. Now who doesn’t even go here?

Nearly 20 years after Mean Girls was released, Lindsay Lohan (Cady Heron), Lacey Chabert (Gretchen Wieners) and Amanda Seyfried (Karen Smith) reunited in the name of good deals and, yes, pink. But Rachel McAdams, who played leader of The Plastics Regina George, was noticeably absent, taking away so much from the reunion and instead bringing most of the attention back to her. Wait, was this a meta Regina George move…?

Still, the ad (which you can watch here) does have plenty of nods and easter eggs to Mean Girls, in addition to showing how Cady, Gretchen and Karen all turned out: Cady has become a guidance counselor, Karen has become a professional...

The ‘Mean Girls’ Reunion Is Here (as a Black Friday Ad, Obviously)

The “It” girls of North Shore High School are back — except this time, they are suburban parents pitching Walmart deals. And no, “fetch” is still not a thing.

The retail giant has recruited much of the original cast of the 2004 comedy classic Mean Girls — including stars Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried, Lacey Chabert, Daniel Franzese and Rajiv Surendra — to star in a Black Friday marketing campaign.

The ad spot (below) debuted Wednesday, imagining what they are up to today at North Shore High School.

Cady Heron (Lohan) is the school guidance counselor, Karen Smith (Seyfried) is a weather reporter and Gretchen Wieners (Chabert) is a mom of one of the new popular girls in the school.

“This is going to be so fetch,” Chabert says while filming her daughter and her friends for some sort of TikTok video. “Stop trying to make fetch happen mom, it’s still not gonna happen,...

‘Mean Girls’ Cast Reunites for Walmart Ad That’s Basically a Sequel to the Movie (Video)
Lindsay Lohan
The original Plastics have returned, and yes, Gretchen Wieners is still trying – and failing – to make “fetch” happen. But this time, the Northshore High crew is together for Walmart’s Black Friday deals.

After photos leaked online of Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried and Lacey Chabert reunited in pink, many speculated that it might be for Paramount’s upcoming “Mean Girls” movie musical. But it was revealed on Wednesday morning that the ladies, along with more of their original “Mean Girls” costars, reunited for a new commercial.

“At North Shore, some things never change,” Lindsay Lohan’s voiceover says, as a new generation of girls strut in. “On Wednesdays, we still wear pink.”

As it turns out, those new mean girls are Gretchen Wieners’ daughter and her friends, as Gretchen herself (Chabert) pulls up and tells her to “Get in sweetie, we’re going deal shopping!”

From there, we check in...

The ‘Mean Girls’ cast reunites for a Walmart commercial [Watch]
Image
On Wednesdays, we promote Walmart.

With the holiday shopping season on the horizon, the chain store revealed a new ad campaign this week that reunites the cast of “Mean Girls” – including original stars Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert. (Regina George actress Rachel McAdams did not participate in the marketing campaign.)

In the nearly two-minute commercial, which almost immediately went viral after its debut, the three actresses reprise their roles from the 2004 teen classic, albeit as grownups. Lohan is now the school’s guidance counselor – a role played in the original film by writer and star Tina Fey – while Chabert fills the role of the “cool mom” made famous by Amy Poehler. (Neither Poehler nor Fey appear in the spot.) Seyfriend’s Karen is now a local weather reporter.

“It was so nice being back together after all these years. It was great catching up with everyone,” Lohan said in a statement.

Lacey Chabert, Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, and Amanda Seyfried in Mean Girls (2004)
Mean Girls star Rajiv Surendra has shared the reason why he left Hollywood.

The former actor, famously known for playing the role of rapping mathlete Kevin Gnapoor in Mean Girls, left the industry because he wasn’t selected as the lead in Ang Lee’s Life of Pi.

“While we were shooting Mean Girls during my first year of college, I found out they were turning Life of Pi into a film,” Surendra told GQ.

“I was determined to get that part. So I dropped out of college to go to the little town in India where the book takes place so that I could do some in-depth research.”

However, the film lost its first director and the project was put on hold. So Surendra went back to college.

Millennial moviegoers may not recognize the name Rajiv Surendra, but they certainly know Kevin Gnapoor. It’s the most happy of pop culture coincidences: The 10-year anniversary of the theatrical release of Mean Girls is today, and April 30 just happens to be a pink-clad Wednesday this year. Mean Girls fans — a huge amount of people in 2004, and somehow an even larger group now — know that Wednesdays are sort-of special when it comes to quoting the Tina Fey-penned cult comedy, second only to Oct. 3.

“Mean Girls is such a special movie because it has so many people who were just starting out,” explained Jonathan Bennett, who played sexy-with-his-hair-pushed-back Aaron Samuels. ” we were aware of how...

'Mean Girls': 25 Things You Didn't Know About the Classic High School Comedy
"Fetch" may never have happened, but "Mean Girls" certainly did become a thing.

Released 10 years ago this week (on April 30, 2004), the high school comedy not only gave Lindsay Lohan her best role and made a star out of Rachel McAdams, but it also launched the movie careers of several of its performers, from writer/co-star Tina Fey to Daniel Franzese (Damian). An instant box office hit, "Mean Girls" went on to become a cult favorite for a generation of post-millennials, full of endlessly quotable lines of dialogue and wise social advice for navigating the jungles of high school and beyond.

Still, as many times as you've re-watched "Mean Girls," there still may be much you don't know about it -- from who almost played the now-iconic characters, to who really came up with Kevin's Mathlete rap, to the filmmakers' battles with the censors. Read on for true tales and burn-book secrets behind "Mean Girls.

'Mean Girls' 10-year anniversary: Damian, Gretchen, Kevin G., and more look back
Lindsay Lohan in Lindsay (2014)
Mean Girls may now be one of the Internet’s favorite movies — just look at Twitter whenever the film airs on cable — but it was anything but a surefire hit while in production.

“It was my first movie. I was pretty young,” Rajiv Surendra, who portrayed mathlete Kevin G. in the film, tells EW. ” had worked on really big films that had been shot in Toronto. I remember asking her, ‘How do you think this movie is going to fare?’ and she said, ‘Come on. It’s called Mean Girls and it’s starring Lindsay Lohan. It’s going straight to DVD.

Tina Fey clarifies Mean Girls reunion rumours: 'Definitely no movie'
Lacey Chabert, Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, and Amanda Seyfried in Mean Girls (2004)
Tina Fey has clarified that there will be no Mean Girls reunion movie.

Star Lindsay Lohan fuelled rumours of some sort of 10th anniversary project on The Tonight Show last week, when she revealed that she'd been approached by Fey.

The Mean Girls writer has since clarified that she has no interest at all in writing a follow-up film.

"[There's] definitely not a movie," Fey told Access Hollywood. "It's just the anniversary is coming up, so everybody get your pink shirts. It's been 10 years. You can tell when you look at me it's been 10 years."

Fey added that a 10th anniversary commemoration could take some other form.

She explained: "I saw [Lindsay] at the first episode of The Tonight Show. We did that bit with Jimmy, and I said to her, 'Oh, I think someone may call us about doing some kind of reunion because next month is the tenth anniversary of the movie.

Something So Fetch Happened After Lena's SNL Gig
Lacey Chabert, Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, and Amanda Seyfried in Mean Girls (2004)
Taylor Swift and Lena Dunham got in on the Mean Girls reunion madness when they met up with Daniel Franzese (aka, Damian) and Rajiv Surendra (aka, Kevin Gnapoor) at the Saturday Night Live afterparty in NYC in the wee hours of Sunday morning. Lena was fresh off her hosting duties for the show, where she had comedy hits with her Girls parody of the Biblical story of Adam of Eve and a Scandal skit, where she showed what it would be like if a normal person was on the show. One person who wasn't present at the SNL bash was Lorde, who was probably too busy preparing for her slate of shows in the Big Apple to hit up a late-night party. However, Lorde and Taylor did fit in a bit of fun earlier in the weekend when they took silly photos in a city park. Be sure to check...

The 'Mean Girls' Reunion Is Real and Happening
Forgive us for being slightly skeptical when Lindsay Lohan declared on "The Tonight Show" last night that a possible "Mean Girls" reunion is in the works.

The comedy, written by Tina Fey, came out 10 years ago at the end of April, and Lohan revealed that there are plans brewing to reunite the cast and crew for some kind of celebration.

"I saw Tina and she mentioned doing a reunion," the actress told host Jimmy Fallon. "She said she was talking to Lorne [Michaels] about it. She's talking to the big boss."

Lohan's already been part of a mini-"Mean Girls" get-together; last month, she posted an Instagram photo of herself hanging out with actors Daniel Franzese (Damian) and Rajiv Surendra (Kevin G).

But a mega reunion? How fetch would that be? (Yeah, we're still trying to make fetch happen.)

And for your viewing pleasure, Fallon throws water in Lohan's face:

Another "Mean Girls" Reunion -- Who'd Lindsay Lohan Hang With Now?
Is Lindsay Lohan secretly trying to make "Mean Girls 2" happen? Because, unlike "Fetch," this is something we'd totally get behind! The actress had a mini-reunion last night, posting a photo with two of her former costars, Daniel Franzese and Rajiv Surendra, at a Klangkarussell concert in NYC."@whatsupdanny #RajivSurendra #youcantsitwithus #soquiche #klangkarussell#KevinG," she commented about the pic -- referencing Surendra's character, rapping Mathlete Kevin Gnappor, and one of the film's most famous lines. This is the third time in recent memory that Lindsay and Daniel, who played "too gay to function" Damian in the film, have met up. The two first reconnected at a fashion show in October 2013 and then hung out again just last week.As for Rajiv, he's flown under the radar since appearing in the 2004 flick, focusing on calligraphy instead of acting.  With the film's 10 year anniversary in April, don't you think it's about time...

Lindsay Lohan has reunited with former Mean Girls co-star Daniel Franzese as the cult film approaches its 10th anniversary.

We take a rather fond and fetch trip down memory lane to see what the comedy's central stars - including Lacey Chabert and Lizzy Caplan - have gone on to do a decade later:

Lacey Chabert

Lacey Chabert plays runt of The Plastics litter and Toaster Strudel princess Gretchen Wieners.

The 31-year-old star, who famously played Claudia Salinger in cult series Party of Five from 1994 to 2000, has also appeared in Ghosts of Girlfriends Past with Matthew McConaughey and provided the voice of Family Guy's Meg Griffin before Mila Kunis took over.

Tim Meadows

Tim Meadows stars as democratic principal Mr Duvall, who attempts to restore calm when pages of the infamous Burn book rear their ugly heads.

Looking Forward To The Mean Girls Musical Has Us Looking Back At Mean Girls Stars Then And Now
Let’s be real, shall we? Some of the Mean Girls actors have moved on to better things. Amanda Seyfried has literally blown up in the past six months (well, not literally), Rachel McAdams is firmly on the A-list and Tina Fey is now writing a Mean Girls musical with her musician husband Jeff Richmond, which is pretty much the pinnacle of human achievement. “I’m trying to develop it with my husband, who does all the music for 30 Rock and I think Paramount’s onboard,” Fey told E! at the SAG Awards. After gushing about her love of Mariah Carey, Tina added, “Maybe she can play Amy Poehler’s part in the musical.” Oh wow, Mariah singing “You Girls Keep Me Young” with a Chihuahua chewing up her bazooms would go perfectly with the show-stopping number “The Limit Does Not Exist” and the Unfriendly Black Hotties choir. (Yes, we...

'Mean Girls' rewind: See Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Lindsay Lohan perfect Kevin G's rap -- Video

Aaaaall yooouuu sucka emcees ain’t got nothin’ on Amy Poehler, who knows her way around Kevin Gnapoor’s Mathlete Rap.

A video featuring Poehler, EW cover star Tina Fey, and a young, fresh-faced Lindsay Lohan — moment of silence, please — goofing around on the set of Mean Girls has just hit YouTube. In it, Poehler tries her hardest to rock the mic like Kevin G — a years-early rehearsal for her Sarah Palin rap? — while Fey wishes aloud that she knew how to beat box. Lohan mainly stands around looking pretty. It’s a must-watch for any Mean Girls fan, meaning...

Short Film Of The Day: Six Feet in Seven Minutes
Why Watch? The tribulations of youth are hard enough without being constantly surrounded by death. Rajeev Reddi has always been different, but his parents have kept a dark (comic) secret from him that they’ll share with him now on his 18th Birthday. In this morbidly funny short film, featuring Rajiv Surendra (who you’ll probably recognize as math whiz Kevin G from Mean Girls), the idea of karma is explored with a clever twist that ends up mirroring our own fears of dying – especially death at a young age or from a terminal illness. But, you know, with jokes. What does it cost? Just 14 minutes of your time. Check out Six Feet in Seven Minutes for yourself: Six Feet In Seven Minutes (2011) Trust us. You have time for more short films.
