‘The Big Bang Theory’ Spinoff: Chuck Lorre Teases if Og Characters Will Appear in Show
Image
While The Big Bang Theory‘s latest spinoff will feature many familiar faces, some fans are holding out hope to see the original show’s main friend group return to the small screen. Stuart Fails to Save the Universe will follow Kevin Sussman‘s titular comic book shop owner as he is “tasked with restoring reality after he breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, accidentally bringing about a multiverse Armageddon,” per HBO Max’s official logline. Though the show connects to characters such as Jim Parsons‘ Sheldon Cooper and Johnny Galecki‘s Leonard Hofstadter, cocreator Chuck Lorre said he “cannot speak” about which Big Bang Theory stars will appear on the show. “That is a closely guarded piece of information that, you know… I’ve taken a blood oath regarding,” Lorre quipped in an interview with TVLine published on Monday, July 28. Lorre went on to ask the interviewer...

Big Bang Theory Creator Teases Possible Cameos in New Spinoff (& Fans Should Be Excited)
Image
The Big Bang Theory co-creator Chuck Lorre doesn't seem to be ruling out any alumni reprisals in Stuart Fails to Save the Universe. The upcoming spinoff will be the third offshoot in the fan-favorite comedy franchise.

Speaking with TVLine's Ryan Schwartz to promote his new Netflix series Leanne, Lorre addressed the possibility of the main Big Bang Theory cast returning to cameo in Stuart Fails to Save the Universe. "I cannot speak to that. That is a closely guarded piece of information that, you know… I’ve taken a blood oath regarding," the franchise co-creator joked. After Schwartz noted that the fans, including himself, were hoping to see the likes of Kaley Cuoco, Jim Parsons, and Johnny Galecki back as their respective Big Bang characters, Penny, Sheldon, and Leonard, in the new spinoff, Lorre remarked, "You’re going to love this show."

Will the Original 'Big Bang Theory' Crew Return For the New Spin‑Off? Chuck Lorre Weighs In
Image
Even with The Big Bang Theory having been off the air for several years now, the universe continues to expand with new spin-offs. The latest is an unlikely spin-off of a character who appeared in The Big Bang Theory but wasn't part of the core friend group, Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman). HBO Max has recently ordered a TV series centered on the comic book store owner, titled Stuart Fails to Save the Universe. According to the show's official logline below, there are mentions of characters from the flagship series, Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki). TV Line caught up with the brains behind this universe, Chuck Lorre, while he promoted his newest comedy, Leanne, and they asked him whether viewers would see Parsons and Galecki in the upcoming show.

"I cannot speak to that,” Lorre said, unsurprisingly mum about the affair. "That is a closely guarded piece of information that,...

The Perfect Doctor Who Replacement Is This Upcoming Sitcom Spinoff Of A Huge Hit Franchise
Image
Doctor Who’s core qualities may appear sooner than expected in an upcoming spinoff of another popular franchise. With no news available about Doctor Who season 16 after season 15’s ending, the only confirmed Whoniverse live-action show is The War Between the Land and Sea. However, an upcoming sitcom from another massive franchise could work as a Doctor Who replacement.

In an interview with ScreenRant’s own Joe Deckelmeier, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe’s creator Chuck Lorre likens the upcoming sitcom to Doctor Who because of its sci-fi elements. Lorre explains that these make Stuart Fails to Save the Universe very different from Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon, along with it being pre-filmed and not an audience show.

ScreenRant: Chuck, you've got Stuart Fails to Save the Universe coming up, a Big Bang Theory spinoff centered around Kevin Sussman's character. What inspired you to revisit Stuart, and...

Original Big Bang Theory Characters Could Return In Stuart Spinoff, Just Now How You'd Expect
Image
The Big Bang Theory's upcoming spinoff, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, could easily see the return of characters such as Sheldon or Leonard, but not in the traditional sense. As the title implies, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe follows Stuart from the parent series. In it, he struggles to "restore reality" after "accidentally bringing about a multiverse Armageddon."

During an interview with TVLine, Chuck Lorre (who co-created The Big Bang Theory alongside Bill Prady) addressed whether fans could expect to see main characters from the original TV show appear in Stuart Fails to Save the Universe. Of course, Lorre didn't confirm if the spinoff would feature cameos. However, he didn't shut down the possibility, either. Lorre said:

"I cannot speak to that. That is a closely guarded piece of information that, you know… I've taken a blood oath regarding."

The Big Bang Theory's "Leonard Is Dead" Mystery Is Now Closer To Being Resolved
Image
Somehow, the ongoing mystery about Leonard being potentially dead in The Big Bang Theory universe is now closer to being resolved. Born from the events of the Young Sheldon finale, the fate of Sheldon's best friend and, arguably, true soulmate, has been a major topic of discussion among the massive fan-base of Chuck Lorre's sitcom franchise.

When The Big Bang Theory ended in 2019, Leonard was at his absolute happiest, simply because he was on the cusp of being a first-time father. He also made amends with his notoriously dismissive mom. After that, however, there's barely any news about how Leonard has been or what he has been up to — until now.

Leonard Is Dead Theory From Young Sheldon Explained Blame It On Young Sheldon For Ignoring Leonard

The"Leonard is dead" theory stemmed from the lack of any news about the character post-The Big Bang Theory. Despite its...

The Big Bang Theory Received A Hilarious (But Useless) Honor From The City Of Pasadena
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

"The Big Bang Theory" might not be one of the best sitcoms of all time, but it's certainly one of the most popular. The show's character-driven, pseudo-nerdy quirkiness has left a mark on the genre, and projects like the upcoming "The Big Bang Theory" spin-off focusing on Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman) are ready to expand the parent show's universe in new directions. With so many "The Big Bang Theory" characters who deserve their own spin-off series waiting in the wings, who knows how long the franchise will endure?

"The Big Bang Theory" has been such a pop culture juggernaut that it's even expanded its tendrils into the real world. The events of the show mostly take place in Pasadena, California, and in 2016, that city honored the CBS comedy by naming a street after the show. This, of course, is an absolutely useless honor in practice,...

Big Bang Theory Star Dismisses Return in Upcoming HBO Max Spinoff: 'No Plan to Come Back'
Image
The Big Bang Theory has been over for several years, but the franchise continues to live on with its multiple spinoffs. While two previous spinoffs were set in the past, the next one will be jumping back to the present, but fans shouldn't count on seeing appearances from all of the original show's stars.

Simon Helberg, who played Howard Wolowitz in The Big Bang Theory, addressed his possible return to the franchise. He said he isn't currently involved with Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, the new spinoff that's coming to HBO Max. While some actors might be bummed in such a situation, Helberg is completely fine with it. He explained that fans last saw the character at his "peak," and it's probably best to have that serve as the end of Howard's journey.

"There's no plan for Howard to come back at the moment," Helberg said. "I don't know,...

Sorry Vince Gilligan, but Your Regret About Villains Becoming Too “Badass” Feels Pointless After Breaking Bad
Image
Vince Gilligan has a warning for Hollywood and has asked creators to stop making villains look cool. That’s right, he’s worried that characters meant to be cautionary tales have become icons that fans are admiring, he said via US Weekly:

When we create characters as indelible as Michael Corleone or Hannibal Lecter or Darth Vader or Tony Soprano, viewers everywhere pay attention. They say, ‘Man, those dudes are badass! I want to be that cool.’ When that happens, fictional bad guys stop being the cautionary tales that they were intended to be. God help us, they become aspirational.

While his concern definitely makes sense, it becomes ironic when you remember that he’s the very reason this shift happened in the first place. He brought Breaking Bad to life with Bryan Cranston’s Walter White in the lead. The show became a huge hit and made one of...

Why The Big Bang Theory Spin-Off Young Sheldon Was Really Made
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: These days, pop culture as a whole is a snake eating its own tail — or, if we're being fancy, an "ourobouros," an ancient symbol depicting exactly that which represents the circular nature of time. Everything is getting revived. The "Jurassic" franchise is on its, like, ninth sequel. "The Big Bang Theory" is creating its own cinematic universe with spin-offs like "Young Sheldon," "Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage," and the forthcoming series led by Kevin Sussman, "Stuart Fails to Save the Universe." As it happens, Chuck Lorre — the sitcom megaproducer behind the three titles I just listed — talked about this at the Banff World Media Festival in Canada.

"I don't want to be engaged in exploiting IP. That's bulls***. That's just trying to make money or something I've done quite well at," Lorre...

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Creator Teases Major Character’s Season 2 Storyline After Life-Changing Decision
Image
Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage co-creator Steve Holland opened up about the aftermath of a major character’s life-changing decision in the upcoming second season of the hit CBS sitcom. The cast and crew of the Young Sheldon spinoff are expected to return to the set soon, after receiving an official Season 2 renewal last February.

During the Season 1 finale of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, Georgie made one of the biggest decisions of his life by buying his father-in-law, Jim’s auto service shop, with the help of his mother and new business partner Ruben. This leaves Jim to retire early, and spend more time at home with his wife Audrey. Speaking with TVLine, when asked what retirement life would look like for Jim, Holland admitted that Jim’s Season 2 storyline would potentially revolve around him regretting his decision to sell his store.

Breaking Bad Universe Character No One Remembers Is Played by Kevin Sussman of The Big Bang Theory
Image
Kevin Sussman may be popularly known for playing the awkward, soft-spoken Stuart on The Big Bang Theory, but the actor has had a celebrated career, with roles in some of the most acclaimed shows of all time, including the Breaking Bad spinoff, Better Call Saul. Created by Vince Gilligan and starring Bob Odenkirk, the series follows Jimmy McGill’s transformation from a con artist to the morally compromised criminal lawyer Saul Goodman.

Sussman had a brief yet pivotal appearance in the final season of the show, where he played the role of Mr. Lingk, a wealthy, terminally ill man whom Jimmy targets under the guise of Gene Takavic. Despite his small role, this appearance marks a critical turning point in the moral and narrative arc of Jimmy McGill.

“It’s a pass”: One ‘The Big Bang Theory’ Star Got Too Jacked Before His Audition, Rejected the Role 5 Times
Image
Johnny Galecki nearly passed on his popular role as Leonard in The Big Bang Theory. The show faced many ups and downs, including a failed pilot, before it hit the screens and became a sensation. One such early obstacle was Leonard’s casting. While Galecki was not the first in line, casting director Nikki Valko was adamant on the actor, saying, “Johnny Galecki is Leonard.”

However, the actor was busy with another project at the time, a Broadway production, The Little Dog Laughed. Galecki had a unique opportunity and did not want to leave it for a ‘nerdy’ role in an impending sitcom.

“Nikki called him like three times saying, ‘Please, please,’ but we kept hearing ‘It’s a pass,'” casting director Ken Miller recalled in The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series. After rejecting the offer five times, Galecki eventually decided to...

‘The Big Bang Theory’ Enters The Multiverse As Sci-Fi Spinoff ‘Stuart Fails To Save The Universe’ Gets HBO Max Pickup & Sets Up More Og Returns
Image
Warner Bros. Discovery streamer HBO Max’s first order of business after officially changing its name is to officially order to series The Big Bang Theory spinoff Stuart Fails To Save The Universe starring the mothership series’ Kevin Sussman, Lauren Lapkus, Brian Posehn and John Ross Bowie.

The Big Bang Theory co-creator and franchise steward Chuck Lorre, who executive produces the latest offshoot with fellow Big Bang co-creator Bill Prady and The Avengers’ Zak Penn, recently revealed that Sftstu “is trying to incorporate some of the world of science fiction, fantasy into a comedy” and will feature extensive CGI.

The pickup announcement expands on that with a detailed description of the premise which evokes superhero movie mythology while opening the door for other original Big Bang cast members to reprise their roles — sort of — in what Prady calls “a complex science fiction story.”

‘Big Bang Theory’ Spinoff ‘Stuart Fails to Save the Universe’ a Go at HBO Max

In keeping with the scientific concept that is its namesake, the universe of The Big Bang Theory keeps expanding.

HBO Max has formally greenlit Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, a comedy that will center on comic book shop owner Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman), who had a heavily recurring role on the original CBS series. The show comes from Big Bang Theory co-creators Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady and Zak Penn (Free Guy, Beacon 23) — and unlike the original series and its other spinoffs, Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, it will feature a heavy dose of sci-fi alongside its comedy.

Stuart Fails to Save the Universe is the first series pickup for the newly re-renamed HBO Max, whose changeover from Max went live on Wednesday.

“We’re excited to be continuing the legacy of The Big Bang Theory,” said Casey Bloys, chairman and CEO of HBO and HBO Max Content.

The Big Bang Theory's 84% Fresh Spinoff Becomes a Surprise Global Streaming Hit 1 Year After the Finale
Image
The franchise may have started with "The Big Bang," but CBS' hit prequel spinoff has managed to cultivate a fandom of its own. One year after its series finale, Young Sheldon remains a hit on streaming.

Per FlixPatrol, Young Sheldon is ranked No. 8 on Starz's Top TV Shows Worldwide list, coming in ahead of The CW's The Flash (No. 10) but under AMC's The Walking Dead: Dead City (No. 6) and Taylor Sheridan's Lioness (No. 7). Created by Chuck Loree and Steven Molaro, Young Sheldon is a spinoff prequel to The Big Bang Theory, focusing on Sheldon Cooper growing up in East Texas in the late '80s and early '90s. Iain Armitage portrays the title character, while Jim Parsons reprises his role from the mothership to narrate the spinoff as adult Sheldon.

Starring alongside Armitage as the rest of the Cooper family are Zoe Perry as Sheldon's mother Mary,...

The Big Bang Theory Star Fuels Rumors Of Returning In Stuart's Spinoff With A Nostalgic Image
Image
A main cast member of The Big Bang Theory is fanning flames of rumors that they will be in Stuart Fails to Save the Universe with a nostalgic image. 6 years afterThe Big Bang Theory ended, Chuck Lorre's sitcom franchise is thriving on CBS with Young Sheldon, which wrapped up in 2024, and now Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage.

That said, the producer extraordinaire is about to further expand it with his first venture from the nerd-centric universe on a streaming platform. Stuart Fails to Save the Universe will put Kevin Sussman's comic book shop owner at the forefront of its storytelling.

As work on Stuart Fails to Save the Universe continues quietly behind-the-scenes, Kunal Nayyar shares an image of The Big Bang Theory main set on his Instagram. Aside from evoking nostalgia, it also fuels rumors that he would be in Stuart Fails to Save the Universe. Interestingly, both Sussman...

5 The Big Bang Theory Characters Who Deserve Their Own Spin-Off Series
Image
Even by sitcom standards, "The Big Bang Theory" has plenty of colorful characters. However, the show tends to keeps a tight focus on the original core group of Sheldon (Jim Parsons), Leonard (Johnny Galecki), Penny (Kaley Cuoco), Howard (Simon Helberg), and Raj (Kunal Nayyar), which means that several supporting characters don't get the attention they deserve. Some rise above the fray: Mayim Bialik's Amy and Melissa Rauch's Bernadette were both promoted to main character status in season 4 and remained as such until the end of the show. Several other characters have also enjoyed briefer stints as part of the main cast before either exiting the show completely or quietly falling back out of focus.

An abundance of these peripheral figures has left the show with an overwhelming surplus of fascinating characters who just don't get the sort of focus they could no doubt handle, either because they don't...

Why Heavy CGI in Chuck Lorre’s New Big Bang Theory Spinoff Is a Red Flag
Image
Chuck Lorre is fully on board with a new Big Bang Theory spinoff, one that he has revealed will incorporate heavy CGI, a new and unique take, departing from the usual trend of any of the previous shows in the TV franchise. Lorre’s new series focuses on Kevin Sussman’s Stuart from the original sitcom while bringing back several original characters, including Denise, Bert, and Kripke.

In a switch from its predecessors, the new series will use a “lot of special technical stuff“, as explained by the creator and showrunner himself at the Banff World Media Festival. “There’s a lot of CGI,” Lorre stated, as per Variety. He continued,

There’s a lot of special technical stuff that — you know, for me in my career, a big production number was two people sitting on a couch, drinking coffee! This is different. This is trying to incorporate some of...

Big Bang Theory’s Next Spinoff Won’t Include Sheldon, And I Finally Figured Out Why
Image
Many fans are wondering why the original Big Bang Theory crew, led by Sheldon (Jim Parsons), will not appear in the next spinoff, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, but a new quote from creator Chuck Lorre may have shed some light on their absence. The new series is currently in development for HBO Max, and it will bring back comic book store owner Stuart Bloom (played by recurring Big Bang Theory guest star Kevin Sussman) to the forefront.

The exact plot details of the upcoming spinoff are still shrouded in secrecy, but Stuart is confirmed to be joined by familiar faces from the hit sitcom: Brian Posehn as Caltech geologist Bert Kibbler, Lauren Lapkus as Stuart's assistant and love interest Denise, and John Ross Bowi as Caltech physicist and Sheldon's workplace bully Barry Kripke. While the series is set in the world of The Big Bang Theory, there is...

Is CGI-Heavy Big Bang Theory Spinoff Poised to Be a Superhero Satire?
Image
The latest Big Bang Theory universe expansion has the potential to look and feel unlike any offshoot that came before it — and based on several clues, I’m beginning to think it will.

Whereas Young Sheldon served as a prequel chronicling Sheldon Cooper’s childhood, and sequel-to-the-prequel Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage has continued that story but shifted focus to Sheldon’s older brother and sister-in-law, HBO Max’s Stuart Fails to Save the Universe will serve as a direct continuation, and pick up after the events of Big Bang’s 2019 series finale.

‘The Big Bang Theory’s Newest Spin-off Just Revealed Its Episode Count
Image
The Big Bang Theoryfirst premiered in September 2007, and after a multi-season run, the series ended but has since birthed two spin-offs. The franchise has one more in the works, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, the show has been in the works for some time now and despite extended periods of silence concerning the show, progress continues to be made. Franchise stalwart, Chuck Lorre, is attached to the project which is yet to be picked up formally by HBO Max. Despite the slight hiccup, preparations on the spin-off seem to be going well, albeit with updates sparse. Lorre, in a conversation with Variety, has revealed the episode count for the first season of Stuart Fails To Save The Universe.

The new series will be led by the character, Stuart, portrayed by Kevin Sussman. Stuart is known in the original series for being stuck in a cycle of unfortunate situations. Lorre,...

The Big Bang Theory's Stuart Spin-Off Will Take The Franchise In An Unexpected Direction
Image
"The Big Bang Theory" is one of the most successful network sitcoms in the history of television, and, given that we're only six years removed from the end of its 12-season run, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that the spin-off series are still coming. Though "Young Sheldon" concluded its run last year, the direct sequel, "Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage," leapt right into the void to keep fans of the show engaged. Since all of these series have, thus far, been Nielsen ratings juggernauts, it makes sense that creator Chuck Lorre has decided to throw another spin-off into the mix. After all, if "All in the Family" could have multiple spin-offs running at the same time in the 1970s, why not see if fans will make time for one other show that takes place in this immensely popular universe?

The next series up should be "Stuart Fails to Save the Universe,...

Big Bang Theory spin-off should bring back one Og character to give fans closure
Image
The vast world of The Big Bang Theory just continues to expand and grow! The series first became a franchise with prequel Young Sheldon, its current sequel Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage, and now there's one more addition that could be coming. That's Stuart Fails to Save the Universe.

The spin-off still has not been officially green lit by HBO Max, though the creators and writers have written 10 episodes, which will lean into the sci-fi fantasy element to combine that with comedy. If it does get picked up, you can expect lots of CGI use, according to Variety. The show would bring back titular character Stuart of course, alongside his girlfriend Denise, and scientists Bert, and Barry Kripke.

It's an interesting foursome to feature together, though I am looking forward to how the writers plan to make this story work. Again, if the series does get that final confirmation. I...

Chuck Lorre Explains Why Young Sheldon Was Greenlit Despite Criticism of Big Bang Theory's Comedy Style
Image
A large part of The Big Bang Theory's comedy style relied on what some viewers perceived to be harmful stereotypes. But despite the criticisms, CBS was happy to greelight spinoff series Young Sheldon.

Speaking at the Banff World Media Festival, series creator Chuck Lorrre explained why the studio was eager to go ahead with Young Sheldon. "I walked in [former CBS chairman and CEO] Les Moonves' office about 10 years ago and said, 'I have an idea for a show about Sheldon when he's 10 years old in East Texas.' And he went, 'Go do it, now,'" he said via The Hollywood Reporter.

According to Lorre, that was when he learned that the real value of a spinoff was about money and less about the story. "You never get a green light because it's deep," he explained. "You get a greenlight because [the studios] think they can make a profit." Still Lorre, believes that getting real...

"This Is Different": Chuck Lorre Reveals How Stuart's The Big Bang Theory Spinoff Reveals Is Different From Previous Shows
Image
The Big Bang Theory creator Chuck Lorre reveals how the show's next spinoff is different. The upcoming Stuart Fails to Save the Universe is the third spinoff in the overall Big Bang Theory universe, currently in development for the HBO Max streaming service. It comes after the success of Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, with Kevin Sussman coming back as the titular Stuart Bloom. Lauren Lapkus and Brian Posehn are also set to return in their respective roles as Denise and Bert.

While speaking at the Banff World Media Festival, according to Variety, Lorre revealed that Stuart Fails to Save the Universe will feature “a lot of CGI.” Lorre, who created the Big Bang Theory with Bill Prady, elaborates in the quote below about how the planned spinoff will include elements of sci-fi and fantasy, and gets candid about how that represents a departure for him:

'Stuart Fails to Save the Universe' Will Be Very Different From 'The Big Bang Theory' Explains Creator
Image
The Big Bang Theory franchise has bounced between sitcom styles over its long history, and the new spin-off, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, will shake things up once again. The original series was a multi-cam sitcom shot in front of a live studio audience, which occasionally moved to a dramedy format for one-off scenes. The two spin-offs, Young Sheldon and George & Mandy's First Marriage, were both shot as domestic comedies. Chuck Lorre, the franchise's creator, who returns to helm Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, recently revealed some key details about the upcoming project, and fans will no doubt be divided.

Chuck Lorre recently appeared at the Banff TV Festival (via Deadline) and gave a major update on the upcoming The Big Bang Theory spin-off, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe. In the spirit of his hit nerdy show, Lorre also took a swipe at DC and Warner Bros....

Chuck Lorre Lifts The Lid On CGI-Heavy ‘Stuart Fails To Save The Universe’ & Mocks DC’s ‘Green Lantern’
Image
Chuck Lorre is going big with CGI and sci-fi.

The veteran comedy writer has lifted the lid on the latest spinoff of The Big Bang Theory – titled Stuart Fails to Save the Universe – at the Banff World Media Festival, mocking Warner Bros.’ DC Studios in the process.

Lorre has teamed with his Big Bang Theory co-creator Bill Prady on the series, which is still technically in development at HBO Max. But he revealed today that he and Prady, as well as The Avengers’ Zak Penn, have written ten episodes of the show, which will feature a “lot of CGI”.

“There’s a lot of special technical stuff. For me, in my career, a big production number was two people sitting on a couch drinking coffee. This is different. This is trying to incorporate some of that world of science fiction, fantasy, into a comedy. I’m completely out of my element,...

Chuck Lorre Teases Sci-Fi Fantasy Twist for Next Big Bang Theory Spinoff: 'There's a Lot of CGI'
Image
The Big Bang Theory franchise is further expanding with a new spinoff coming to the HBO Max streaming service. This won't be your typical sitcom, however, with sci-fi and fantasy elements sure to make the new series stand apart from the others.

The show is called Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, with Kevin Sussman reprising his role as Stuart, the comic book store owner, in the original series. Per Variety, series co-creator Chuck Lorre shared an update on Stuart Fails to Save the Universe while at the Banff World Media Festival in Banff, Alberta, Canada. Lorre confirmed that ten episodes of the new show have already been written, going on to hint at how "a lot of CGI" is being used to add elements of science fiction and fantasy.

“There’s a lot of CGI,” as Lorre explained. “There’s a lot of special technical stuff that — you know,...

‘Big Bang Theory’ Spinoff ‘Stuart Fails to Save the Universe’ Will Have ‘A Lot of CGI,’ Says Chuck Lorre
Image
Expect some big effects on “Stuart Fails to Save the Universe,” the latest “The Big Bang Theory” series in development at HBO Max under Chuck Lorre, fellow “Big Bang” creator Bill Prady and screenwriter Zak Penn (“The Avengers”).

Speaking Monday at the Banff World Media Festival in Banff, Alberta, Canada, Lorre gave a few tidbits on the show, including the fact that he, Penn and Prady have already written ten episodes. (The Warner Bros. TV project is still in development phase and has not yet been formally picked up by HBO Max — although that seems to be a very likely thing.)

“There’s a lot of CGI,” Lorre revealed. “There’s a lot of special technical stuff that — you know, for me in my career, a big production number was two people sitting on a couch, drinking coffee! This is different. This is trying to incorporate some of that world...

Image
The Big Bang Theory's Kunal Nayyar shares candid thoughts about the possibility of a revival. The third spinoff in the Big Bang Theory universe is slowly taking shape with the upcoming Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, which is planned for the HBO Max streaming service. Kevin Sussman will reprise his role as the titular Stuart Bloom, with the project also starring Lauren Lapkus and Brian Posehn, returning as Denise and Bert, respectively. But even after the individual success of Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, questions remain about whether the original series could return.

The 10 Best Episodes Of The Big Bang Theory Ranked
Image
Here are some cold hard facts: "The Big Bang Theory," the CBS sitcom created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, ran for 12 years, the same number of seasons, and an incredible 279 episodes. After it kicked off in 2007, the show almost floundered during its first season but was improbably saved, in a way, by the writers' strike that took place until 2008; after that, the series was an unquestionable and undeniable success. Stars Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Melissa Rauch, and Mayim Bialik — who play Sheldon Cooper, Leonard Hofstadter, Penny, Howard Wolowitz, Raj Koothrappali, Bernadette Rostenkowski-Wolowitz, and Amy Farrah Fowler, respectively — were all skyrocketed to fame and acclaim, and Parsons even took home a handful of Emmys for his leading role. With all of this context in mind, it can be hard to winnow down the "best" episodes of "The Big Bang Theory," partly because of the sheer number and partly because,...

Image
The Big Bang Theory’s new sequel series surrounding the comic book store owner, Stuart Bloom, is set to bring back several familiar faces from the original show.

Amid these returning characters, there’s one more who deserves a comeback, someone who seems to have mastered the art of dry humor after years of dealing with Sheldon Cooper, Dr. Siebert, the president of the California Institute of Technology.

Though his appearances on the original series were limited, his dry wit and subtle frustration with Sheldon left a lasting impression on long-time fans. Seeing him return in the new series would be a small but meaningful treat for the audience.
