Going Dutch is a comedy series created by Joel Church-Cooper. The Fox series follows Colonel Patrick Quinn, an arrogant and narcissistic man who is reassigned to the “least important Army base in the world” after an offensive rant. Forrest Compton, who is known for his role in the long-running soap opera The Edge of Night died on Sunday after complications with Covid-19. He was 94.

According to the Shelter Island Reporter, close friends of Compton confirmed his death.

Compton was born on September 15, 1925, in Reading, Pennsylvania. He served with the 103rd Infantry Division in France during World War II and then went on to enroll in Swarthmore College where he studied pre-law and Political Science before shifting gears to English. He then started to act in school theater productions before he graduated and made his way to study acting at the Yale Drama School alongside his classmate, actor Paul Newman.

Forrest Compton, who played Col. Edward Gray on Gomer Pyle: Usmc and had a long run on the daytime soap opera The Edge of Night, has died of complications from the coronavirus. He was 94.

Compton died Sunday, according to a report in the Shelter Island Reporter.

As Col. Gray, Compton regularly chewed out Frank Sutton's Sgt. Vince Carter on Gomer Pyle, which aired on CBS from 1964 to '69. This, of course, often came after Sutton had abused his favorite private, Gomer (Jim Nabors).

Some of the most beloved shows in TV history feature members of the military. You might remember Hawkeye Pierce and Radar O’Reilly from “M*A*S*H,” the breakout star of the “Andy Griffith Show,” Gomer Pyle, whose spinoff “Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.” ran for five years.

Jim Nabors, who epitomized the image of a friendly country boy, has died at age 87 at his home in Hawaii. Nabors was plucked from obscurity when Andy Griffith caught his nightclub act in L.A. in the early 1960s and cast him in the role of Gomer Pyle, the affable but simple-minded filling station attendant in "The Andy Griffith Show". In response to Alasdair Stuart’s “what if the Doctors had been women” exercise, Jef With One F at Houston Press’s Art Attack has developed his “An Alternative History of 11 American Doctors.” How can this be? Isn’t Doctor Who simply too British to even contemplate such a thing? You decide. Here’s a taste: 3rd Doctor - Robert Stack (1970 - 1974) The star of The Untouchables was approached to take over for Lynde. Stack was looking to get away from crime drama, and admitted to secretly being a big fan of science fiction and bizarre phenomenon when cast. Nonetheless, his Doctor carried over many of the traits of Elliot Ness to the point that some accused him of not trying to differentiate the two very much. The Third Doctor, while stranded on Earth following the death of The Second, was confined to a branch of the United States military as science adviser.

Rochester, NY - Ever wonder why schools today stink compared to decades ago? Every think tank moron has their dubious reasonings that appeases their corporate masters. But the truth is extraordinarily simple: Schools dumped their education films.

Do you remember those days when the gym teacher had to pad out health class by wheeling in the 16mm projector from the Av department? They’d thread up classic tales about your body, narcotics, driving safety and manners. Things which kids nowadays can’t seem to handle.

When the Vcr arrived in schools, the 16mm projector was quickly dumped as teaching tool.

Where did these classic films go? Many arrived at the city dump. However a few lucky tens of thousands found themselves on the racks of the Av Geeks Archive. This repository of cinematic education is overseen by Skip Elsheimer. He started collecting the films after I moved out of the infamous PineHaus.

Chicago - We’re approaching an entertainment apocalypse as the new four horsemen arrive on the hill: Redbox, Comcast, Marketeers and Spencer Pratt. In a decade, we’re going to be watching puppet shows on network TV and not even Jeff Dunham level puppet shows. But let’s give a run down of trainwrecks that will claim the lives of entertainment business models.

Redbox is a simple concept - a kiosk that allows you to rent a hot new DVD title for a $1 a day. There will be 20,000 of them across the country in grocery stores, drugstores and Wal-marts by the end of the year. They’re a mini-Blockbuster that’s doesn’t required a zit-faced dreamer to run the register. What’s the problem with Redbox? It’s killing to DVD sales market faster than Blockbuster and Netflix. Having Redbox inside Wal-Mart wrecks the impulse buying temptation of the giant sale bin.

As any horror fan worth their salt knows, back in 1974, a little film was released (or unleashed) upon the public with the off-putting yet intriguing title, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Most horror folks have heard all the stories about the film including The Dinner Scene shoot and about the deal with Bryanston, which led to years of legal wrangling. The cast has, to one degree or another, stayed in the public eye and director Tobe Hooper, Dp Daniel Pearl and Production Manager Ron Bozman all moved on to other films, even an Oscar win.

But one cast member has remained mysteriously quiet. And she is the most iconic of them all – Pam, the girl on the hook.
