Crows Zero II
Stars: Shun Oguri, Kyôsuke Yabe, Meisa Kuroki, Nobuaki Kaneko, Haruma Miura, Sôsuke Takaoka, Takayuki Yamada | Written by Shôgo Mutô | Directed by Takashi Miike
When I first saw Crows Zero (review here) it quickly became one of my favourite Takashi Miike films. First introduced to his work through Audition then Ichi the Killer I was used to his harsh and extreme horror side, but the more of I see the more he impresses me. Be it with 13 Assassins or the Crows Zero films I’ve been able to see that he can enact ambitious fight scenes that are full to the brim with gore and his own impressive style, although Crows Zero to be fair does not use gore, it seems probably his tamest work and to be aimed at a more teen audience.
Following on straight after the events of the first film it’s not long...

Last month it was announced that Kinji Fukasaku's seminal horror/survival flick 'Battle Royale' (Aka 'Batoru rowaiaru') was getting the 3D treatment and prepping itself for a re-release into theatres this month across Japan. And the hunger for the ragtag bunch of school kids pitted against each other on the bloody island is still a keen experience for Us movie fans too as Anchor Bay have just acquired the North American distribution rights to 'Battle Royale 3D' and the sequel. It starred Tatsuya Fujiwara, Aki Maeda, Taro Yamamoto, Chiaki Kuriyama, Sosuke Takaoka, Takashi Tsukamoto, Yukihiro Kotani, Eri Ishikawa, Sayaka Kamiya and Aki Inoue. No word on whether it'll get a theatrical release stateside as yet....

Here’s the trailer for Sankaku, the latest film by director Keisuke Yoshida (Raw Summer, Cafe Isobe).
The film stars Sosuke Takaoka as 30-year-old Momose, a bit of a loser who’s currently living with his girlfriend Kayo (Tomoko Tabata). However, their relationship is far from loving, as they’ve recently fallen into a rut and have become slightly bored of one another.
One day, Kayo’s 15-year-old sister Momo (Erena Ono of AKB48) comes to stay with them during her summer vacation from junior high school. As soon as she moves in, Momose can’t seem to calm down around her, as Momo does things like walk around in her underwear or cutely whisper things in his ear. In spite of his relationship with 27-year-old Kayo, Momose finds himself charmed by the way-too-young Momo in a strange summer love triangle.
Nikkatsu will be releasing “Sankaku” in Japan on June 26, 2010.
