Tom Savini‘s 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead will celebrate its 35th anniversary with a SteelBook 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray release on September 23 via Sony.
In addition to the theatrical version, a new uncensored cut is included, both newly restored in 4K with Dolby Vision. Supervised by Savini, the alternate cut restores gore that was originally cut to avoid an X rating, in addition to starting in black and white before transitioning to color.
“Yes finally,” Savini wrote on Instagram. “Completely uncut, uncensored, and as I intended 35 years ago… it is black and white for a bit, as a homage to the original, and then color opens the curtain to my remake.”

Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead has a gripping poster, featuring a beautiful girl rising out of an open grave on a dark, foggy night with a rickety wooden cross behind her. A hairy, monstrous arm is wrapped around her neck, pulling her back into the open grave, as her arm beseeches for help that will never come. There’s just one problem with the poster—that mysterious girl and that scene Aren’T in the film.
Meet Bridget Hoffman, the girl who is (and isn’t) in Sam Raimi’s classic Evil Dead franchise!
“Yes, that’s me,” actress Bridget Hoffman smiles, playfully recreating her pose, with her right hand in the air and her left arm wrapped around her own neck.
“I wound up on the poster for The Evil Dead even though I’m not in it!” she said. “I’m from Michigan. I went to Michigan State University...

There was a bit of a sci-fi cold war in the 1990s that many newer fans may not know about. Accusations of theft made the rounds as the creators of Babylon 5 felt that Star Trek: Deep Space Nine plagiarized its concept. There might be some truth to the claims, as J. Michael Straczynski apparently had meetings with Paramount about producing the show as early as 1989.
Yet, Deep Space Nine came around four years later in 1993, and Babylon 5 came around one year later in 1994. According to series actress Patricia Tallman, the two sides settled out of court on the matter, bringing in some degree to credibility to the claims. This may have been part of the reason there was so much bad blood between the shows and the fandoms.

Chicago Pd has featured an abundance of characters, and many of the actors and actresses who play them are familiar faces. Series mainstays and those with much briefer runs alike have typically starred in at least one other TV show or movie fans are likely to have seen. Some of them have careers dating back decades, while others are best known for more modern work.
By sheer coincidence, many actors involved with the franchise are well-known for featuring in fantasy, sci-fi, and horror works. The stars of Chicago Pd have had major roles in franchises like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the Arrowverse, and in movies like Monkey Shines. These performances are all excellent, and show the range of the long-running police procedural's cast.

Way back in the 80s and 90s, there was one spin-off horror genre that consistently produced some highly memorable movies, often for better… Or worse; Comedy Horror. The genre has been hugely popular ever since it introduced audiences to films such as Dr. Pickle and Mr. Pryde and The Monster from the mid 20s, all the way to classic titles such as Young Frankenstein and The Rocky Horror Picture Show from the 70s. In the early 2000s the genre started poking fun at horror movies in general, plus specifically the Scream series, with the popular but ridiculous Scary Movie franchise. While those movies were fun, they were basically a polished piss-take of better movies and lacked the kitsch and schlocky fun of earlier, more inventive entries. Which brings us nicely to the Re-Animator series, which has its roots firmly set in those 20s and 30s flicks, with a sprinkle of...

At a time when syndicated science fiction was just Star Trek series, it took some guts on Warner Bros’ part to try something darker and more experimental with J. Michael Straczynski’s Babylon 5, designed to tell a sprawling epic that was more political than it was space opera. The show arrived thirty years ago and was successful enough to spawn spin-off five telefilms and a short-lived spinoff, spanning 1993-2007.
The core of it, the 110 episodes from the original five-season series, have been remastered and collected on a nice Blu-ray box set from Warner Home Entertainment. Also included is the original pilot film.
Set in the 23rd century, the Earth Alliance has found its place among star-faring races, notably the Minbari and the Centauri. Some of these races are fine with humans; others wish them gone. Then there are the Vorlons, and no one knows what they want.

J. Michael Straczynski is back with a new installment in his imaginative Babylon 5 series. The difference this time is that it’s a 76-minute animated feature film, released this week from Warner Home Entertainment.
B5 launched into syndicated television sixteen years ago, featuring a somewhat darker, more nuanced approach to the future. It was filled before and behind the camera with people well-versed in the Sf tropes, but used that to twist things and keep them fresh.
Here, Babylon 5 The Road Home, feels far more familiar. We’re set in the time after the Shadow War as we focus on President John Sheridan (Bruce Boxleitner) and his wife Delenn (Rebecca Riedy) adjusting to running the 12-world Interstellar Alliance. Just as he leaves, he’s caught in the tried and true time warp allowing him to visit various parallel realities as we revisit more familiar characters and settings.

J. Michael Straczynski's acclaimed science-fiction masterwork Babylon 5 continues in an animated form, going on a brand new journey that is both a step in a new direction while being faithful to the lore and legacy of the original series. Throughout its nearly three-decade run, Babylon 5 cultivated a devoted fan following through its intriguing setting and reverence for its old nemesis, Star Trek. The series has experimented with several storytelling mediums throughout the years, from comic books to movies and television. Back in 2021, reports of a Babylon 5 reboot on the CW network started circulating, resulting in a mixture of hope and curiosity among fans.
Although the reboot's progress encountered several delays up to 2022, the possibility of a revival remained on the horizon, keeping fans engaged and invested in the franchise's future. The Babylon 5 legacy was poised for both continuation and reimagining. In May 2023, the animated installment was officially announced,...

The Night of the Living Dead (1990) episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? was Written by Emilie Black, Narrated by Adam Walton, Edited by Victoria Verduzco, Produced by Andrew Hatfield and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
Horror remakes are everywhere these days, but back in the late 1980s and early 1990s, there were quite a few less, in fact, they were pretty rare. Of course, some had come and gone, with varying degrees of quality and success. Some of the better ones are well remembered to this day, including The Thing, The Fly, and The Blob. In 1990, another remake came out to a bit less joy. In fact, it was downright hated by many, with Roger Ebert even putting it on his “Most Hated” list, something that was not entirely surprising as he had high regards for some of the George A. Romero originals that came before.

It was just seven days since the Great Hollywood War descended on us all. Both the Writer’s Guild and the Actors Guild were at odd with the Producers over everything from pay equity to use of artificial intelligence. Those of us hoping to take refuge in the celebration of San Diego Comic-Con found ourselves frustrated in the corridors of the Convention Center.
All of it recalled one of the great TV science fiction series: Babylon 5. How appropriate then that our only scheduled interview to not get canceled at Comic-Con would tie-in with the new film, Babylon 5: The Road Home. And this sequel comes with a bonus in that it continues on from both endings of the film.

You can check out the official box art for Babylon 5: The Complete Series below, which strangely doesn’t feature the titular space station.
All five seasons of Babylon 5 were scanned and remastered from the original camera negative in 4K, with a colour correction and the cleaning of dirt and scratches as well. The many CGI shots of the series have been digitally upscaled to HD, and short of a complete remaster, that’s probably...

The woman behind the iconic Susan Ivanova is keeping busy. Not only is Claudia Christian returning to the role for the forthcoming animated movie, Babylon 5: The Road Home, but she’s successfully funded the second issue of her comic-book, Claudia Cristian’s Dark Legacies on Kickstarter.
The comic, which is co-written by Dr. Chris McAuley (Dracula: The Return) and drawn by legendary British artist Glenn Fabry, isn’t Christian’s first foray into fiction. In 2007, Christian wrote the Babylon 5 novel Baptism of Fire, and in 2016, the original novel Wolf's Empire: Gladiator with Morgan Grant Buchanan.

A new episode of The Arrow in the Head Show has just been released, and in this one hosts John “The Arrow” Fallon and Lance Vlcek are continuing to prepare for the new release Evil Dead Rise. For last week’s episode, they looked back at Evil Dead II, and now they’re revisiting the 1993 follow-up Army of Darkness (watch it Here)! To find out what they had to say about Army of Darkness, check out the video embedded above!
Written by Sam Raimi and his brother Ivan Raimi, Army of Darkness has the following synopsis: Ash is transported back to medieval days, where he is captured by the dreaded Lord Arthur. Aided by the deadly chainsaw that has become his only friend, Ash is sent on a perilous mission to recover the Book of the Dead, a powerful tome that gives its owner the power to summon an army of ghouls.

The 1981 film Knightriders (watch it Here) isn’t a horror film, but comes from one of our all-time greatest genre film directors (and my personal favorite of the bunch), George A. Romero. It’s a brilliant, emotional dramatic film that also features some really cool extended motorcycle stunt sequences… and I’m glad to hear that the folks at Scare Flair Records are giving the score composed by Donald Rubinstein a vinyl release.
The vinyl is now available to order through ScareFlair.com. The site notes that the records are already in hand and will begin shipping out almost immediately.
Here’s some information on the Knightriders score vinyl release: This release comes with the complete score on X2LP inside a gatefold jacket, 11×11 Program of Events insert, exclusive liner notes by Composer Donald Rubinstein, classic artwork by Boris Vallejo, new artwork by Ghoulish Gary Pullin, and features some very...

On February 19, 1993, the third entry in director Sam Raimi‘s Evil Dead franchise – Army of Darkness (watch it Here) – reached theatres. Even though the film was a box office failure, it quickly earned a cult following… and by now, it probably ranks as one of the most popular horror comedies ever made. That’s why we have put together a video to celebrate 30 years of Army of Darkness, which you can now check out in the embed above!
