The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) is facing backlash over this year’s Golden Globe nominations for Best Director. The five filmmakers who earned a nomination this year are all men: Guillermo del Toro (“The Shape of Water”), Martin McDonagh (“Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”), Christopher Nolan (“Dunkirk”), Ridley Scott (“All the Money in the World”), and Steven Spielberg (“The Post”).

Considering what a strong year it was for women and minority directors like Greta Gerwig, Jordan Peele, Dee Rees, and Patty Jenkins, it’s especially unfortunate how male-dominated the race is this year. Logo TV today announced that Emmy and Tony Award-winning actress and singer Kristin Chenoweth is slated to perform a song from her live CD Coming Home on the Logo TV's 2014 'New Now Next' Awards premiering on Logo TV on Sunday, December 7 at 8 p.m. Etpt and MTV on December 12 at 7 p.m. Etpt. Actor and singer Darren Criss will host the event, which kicks off Art Basel from Kimpton's Surfcomber Miami, South Beach, and serves as the definitive farewell party for 2014 and predictor to who and what will dominate pop culture in the year to come. The series is currently in its fourth season with five episodes left to air. To date, the show's been averaging 1.22 million viewers with a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic. Compared to season three, that's down by about 5%.

A loss of control and structure has been a running theme amongst the seniors over the course of the season, with Jenna, Sadie, Tamara, and Matty all experiencing this to varying degrees. This week’s episode sees the seniors face opposition from a new source in the form of the school sophomores, in an entertaining outing that sets the latter seniors towards their individual crossroads.

Tamara’s self-inflicted stress over the progression of her senior year continues to be compelling. With her prior relationship breakup, as well as the loss to the sophomore class this year, it’s clear that Tamara’s year is not going as envisioned. Here's a little good news/bad news situation regarding "Awkward." When Season 4 debuts, two faces won't be returning: Ming and Collin.

When the new "Awkward" showrunners Chris Alberghini and Mike Chessler spoke to Buzzfeed for the first time since taking over the MTV critical darling from creator Lauren Iungerich (who left the series in June), they revealed the casting change-up, of which one-half was deeply upsetting. 

"Jessica Lu [who plays Ming] is not returning," Alberghini says. "She wanted to move on." Ming was Jenna's Bff, and for a brief time was the head of the Asian Mafia, a hilarious and quirky B story arc that will also not be returning in the new season. Her absence will definitely be missed, as she's been a major part of the series since day one.

Elise Eberle (Tiger Eyes) has been cast as a regular in Wgn America’s drama series Salem. Set in the volatile world of 17th century Massachusetts, it explores what really fueled the town’s infamous witch trials and centers on Mary Sibley (Janet Montgomery), the beautiful, ruthless but vulnerable wife of an ancient, ailing but very wealthy Salem town Selectman. Eberle, repped by Abrams Artists and managers Margrit Polak & Micki Caruso, will play Mercy Lewis, Reverend Lewis’ powerful and vulnerable daughter who is believed to be possessed. Greer Grammer, who has recurred on the first three seasons of MTV’s flagship comedy series Awkward as Lissa, a naïve but sweet member of Sadie’s (Molly Tarlov) posse, has been upped to series regular for Season 4. Greer, repped by Apa, Strategic Talent Group and Lev Ginsburg, will next be seen in the dark comedy feature Chastity Bites.

Jenna (Ashely Rickards) made the shocking choice to cheat on her all-around perfect boyfriend Matty (Beau Mirchoff) in the Season 3A finale, and that one choice will catapult her and everyone around her onto a new path that no one expected to see. "Beginning of Season 3B, we're picking up where we don't even know if Matty has seen her and Collin making out," Rickards tells Zap2it. "Going into this episode, it's so unclear about who knows what and what's out of the bag, let alone what Jenna's going to do about it. There's a lot to catch up on."

MTV will rebroadcast "The Hills" finale with a never-before-seen ending on Friday, August 9 at 11:30 a.m. Et as part of the new RetroMTV Brunch programming block. The RetroMTV Brunch programming stars on Monday, July 8 at 9 a.m. Et with the first episode of "Laguna Beach."

Spoiler alert: Stop reading if you haven’t watched this week’s ‘Awkward!’

Is Awkward even a comedy anymore? Because after witnessing Jenna’s (Ashley Rickards) actions on the June 11 mid-season finale, I’ll tell you one thing: I ain’t laughin’.

I’m referring, of course, to her unpardonable sin, the one thing we’ve all been fearing would come since the first episode of the season: She kissed Collin (Nolan Funk)! Yes, it was passionate. Yes, it was epic. But most importantly, it was wrong.

To be honest, I don’t really care what’s going on in Jenna’s head; Matty (Beau Mirchoff) has been the perfect boyfriend this season — not only has he put up with her incessant pity parties, but he even learned how to dance/give good face for her — and what she did this week was unforgivable.
