This Vampire Diaries Scene Is So Chaotic, It Deserves Its Own Emmy for Comedy Writing
Image
From its very first episode, The Vampire Diaries has made a name for itself for its swoonworthy romance and heart-pounding drama. Yet, one of the overlooked sides of the show of the undead was its impeccable comedy.

Though The Vampire Diaries is not predominantly a comedy show, the comic timing of some of the scenes from the series is pure gold. Season 3, being one of the most talked-about seasons of the show, obviously had to feature a scene that was so chaotic that it deserves its several accolades.

While the scene was hilarious at its best and chaotic at its worst, this scene has its own separate fanbase who doesn’t shy away from discussing it even now.

The Vampire Diaries Season 3 has a comedic gold scene in episode 21

Even 13 years after its initial airing, the scene from Season 3, Episode 21, still sparks discussion among the fans. However, it is noteworthy...

The Vampire Diaries’ Most Unforgivable Moment Is When Ric Robbed Caroline Off After She Did Everything
Image
The Vampire Diaries had all of those messy love triangles and supernatural chaos, but nothing stung quite like what they did to our pretty blonde gal, Caroline. After bending over backwards, literally raising Ric’s twins, and sacrificing her own happiness time and again, she got sidelined in the Worst way. And Ric himself walked out like it was no big deal.

We watched Caroline evolve into one of the strongest characters on the show, only to get robbed of the ending she truly deserved. Frankly, that move still feels like one of the most unforgivable moments in the series.

Ric’s worst move? Denying Caroline as their mom after she carried, birthed, and raised them in The Vampire Diaries Caroline and Alaric in The Vampire Diaries | Credits: The CW

The Vampire Diaries really did Caroline dirty, and it still stings like anything. That one scene was total emotional betrayal.

Not Just ‘The Vampire Diaries’, You Can Thank L. J. Smith for These 3 Other Iconic Shows
Image
The Vampire Diaries fans have likely invested countless hours with Elena together with Stefan and Damon. L. J. Smith’s books went on to achieve huge television success and young adult literature received its framework from her creative achievements. But the extent of her work goes beyond The Vampire Diaries series.

Smith was a gifted writer. Born in 1958, she created stories filled with romance, magic, and shadows. Noveks like Night World and The Secret Circle prove her talent. However, the author sadly passed away on March 8, 2025, at 66, leaving a void in the world of fantasy creations.

Her accomplishments go beyond her work on The Vampire Diaries. Through direct links or indirect connections, her creations appear in three other TV productions. Let’s explore some shows other than The Vampire Diaries, tied to Smith’s imagination.

10 Best The Vampire Diaries Characters Who Left The Show (& Why)
Image
The Vampire Diaries is one of the few shows that thrived with a huge ensemble cast, as every figure was so unique and individually important to the overarching story of the fantasy drama. Damon, Elena, and Stefan were obviously incredibly important, but the supporting cast also managed to enthrall fans with their own character arcs that were as interesting as the three protagonists. However, some of these beloved characters didn't last as long as the show did.

Some of them, like Jenna and Liz, met untimely deaths that left viewers completely heartbroken, while others exited the show to explore other endeavors. The Vampire Diaries handled some of these character departures very well, but others, like Meredith Fell, were never explained until episodes later and in passing. These fan favorites would have enhanced the show if they had stuck around, without a doubt, but they were sadly phased out of the show a little too soon.

Few other shows did drama, romance, and heart-pounding twists as well as The Vampire Diaries, and the CW drama kept it riveting for years. With over 20 episodes in most of its eight seasons, Tvd has delivered some of the most unforgettable season finales that have kept fans on the edge of their seats. Whether it was an emotional goodbye or a heart-stopping cliffhanger, these season finales were always masterfully executed, resolving overarching storylines while also setting the stage for fresh ones for the next season.

Each finale was a pivotal point in every character's life, often becoming turning points that would change their arcs completely. While each season finale of The Vampire Diaries was a memorable one, some stood out more than the rest. They left a lasting impact on the Tvd universe and gave viewers moments that ended up defining the legacy of the show.

10 The Vampire Diaries Cliffhangers That Are Still Shocking 8 Years Later
Image
Whether it was supernatural drama or romance, The Vampire Diaries was the king of cliffhangers. With endless twists and turns over eight seasons, the show knew how to hook the audience and keep them addicted to the show. Damon, Elena, and Stefan's story was one of the most engrossing love triangles, but their story was complemented by chilling cliffhangers that made viewers even more eager to watch the next episode or season.

From unexpected deaths to unprecedented time jumps, these cliffhangers usually occurred at the end of an episode, revealing a bombshell twist in the final moments to keep viewers on tenterhooks. Tvd was especially good at executing cliffhangers that didn't feel contrived or cheesy but added greatly to the season's overarching stories. These were thrown in across all seasons, and not necessarily just at the end of one, which made watching The Vampire Diaries into a riveting experience.

Damon Salvatore's Most Underrated Vampire Diaries Episode Is Actually Flawless From Beginning to End
Image
The Vampire Diaries followed Elena Gilbert and the Salvatore brothers. The three took on all matters of supernatural enemies while falling in and out of love with each other. With high-stakes and epic finales, there are some episodes that get overlooked or fly a little under the radar.

The game-changing final episode of season two is one of the highest-rated episodes of the series and one of the best episodes for Damon fans, but an earlier episode in the season has tons of brilliant Damon moments and is a fantastic episode. “The Last Dance” is when audiences first see Klaus in action when he possesses Alaric’s body. He learns that Bonnie is super-charged and confident she can kill Klaus if he shows up.

I'm Sorry But This Fan-Favorite The Vampire Diaries Character Was in the Wrong Tvd Universe Show
Image
Caroline Forbes is a fan-favorite character from the beginning of The Vampire Diaries, and I always loved the blend of audaciousness, optimism, and fierceness that formed her character. However, I believe that Tvd did not fully realize Caroline's potential and that she would have been better utilized somewhere else in the Tvd Universe -- The Originals. In the first three seasons of The Vampire Diaries, Caroline saw immense evolution, but this slowed down and eventually petered to a complete stop towards the end of the show.

This is why I'm stunned that Caroline wasn't transitioned into The Originals in Season 4, because it would have been the natural next step for her. In Tvd, she went from being a whiny, insecure girl to a strong vampire who was determined to strike a balance between her human and supernatural self. She managed to overcome most of the hurdles in her path, which...

I Still Can't Believe The Vampire Diaries Made This Controversial Relationship Canon
Image
Quick LinksAlaric and Caroline Didn't Have to Be In a RomanceCaroline's Romance Arcs Were Blocked For a Long TimeThe Relationship Destroyed Alaric's Character

The Vampire Diaries was no less than a cultural phenomenon, with compelling characters and, most importantly, intricate and passionate relationships that kept fans hooked. While every relationship had its moments of beauty and toxicity, both one of them stood out for being completely inappropriate. Alaric and Caroline were seen in a romantic relationship in Season 7 of The Vampire Diaries, which was so serious that they were engaged to be married. This relationship was controversial for several reasons, and I'm still shocked, years later, that this romance made it out of the writer's room.

The origin of this relationship lay in the fateful events of the Season 6 finale, where Alaric and Jo's beautiful wedding was cruelly disrupted by Kai, who murdered a pregnant Jo. To save the...

10 The Vampire Diaries Characters Who Would Have Been Better Protagonists Than Elena
Image
When Elena first locked eyes with Stefan Salvatore, a mythic romance was born. Fresh from the trials of losing both her parents on the same night, the small-town Virginia girl finds a reason to live again. So is the set-up to The Vampire Diaries, one of the most cherished supernatural romances on television. Soon, Elena and Stefan's love becomes a threesome as the latter's brother Damon enters the picture. But while the two brothers have fully realized characterizations that make it impossible to look away, the same cannot be said for the third corner of this love triangle.

Elena Gilbert's characterization was extremely meditated on, but that does not necessarily mean she works as a main character. The creatives who adapted the series from the book series of the same name changed Elena from a high school queen bee type to a character who is arguably crippled by her compassion.

Quick LinksKai Parker's Story Is Left Open-Ended in The Vampire DiariesKai Deserved More Than His Anti-Climactic EndKilling Kai Was a Massive Missed Opportunity

Each series in The Vampire Diaries universe puts its spin on the vampire genre. The final series in the franchise pushes this idea the furthest, implementing a bestiary of creatures never before. Legacies follows the descendants of fan-favorite characters like Klaus Mikaelson and Alaric Saltzman's children. As the mythical tribrid, Hope Mikaelson, reaches adolescence, she encounters gargoyles and dragons and necromancers, oh my!

This new Rolodex of creatures allows for a more campy tone and practically invites chaos into the halls of the Salvatore Boarding School For the Young and Gifted. But Legacies is at its best when it stays true to the legacy of the series -- no pun intended. Fans want to see familiar faces return, even though they are few and far between. 10 Perfect Moments From The Vampire Diaries Season 3 That Are Flawless From Beginning to End

Few other fantasy shows reached the pinnacle of fame the way The Vampire Diaries did, and it continued its successful run even three seasons deep. After two incredibly beloved seasons, Tvd offered even more twists and turns in Season 3, making it one of the show's best installments. Stefan, Damon, and Elena combated even more villains and dealt with growing feelings in this season as well.

Season 3 brought with it some of the best plot twists, including ghosts coming back to life and Elena turning into a vampire. Some would say that it was one of the most pivotal seasons of The Vampire Diaries, as it changed relationship dynamics for good. Along with great writing, the third season of Tvd also had some of the best dialogues, which added to its appeal.

Like any good supernatural drama, The Vampire Diaries excels at its season-long villains. Every year, a larger-than-life foe descends upon the town of Mystic Falls to set loose some dastardly plan. Some even charm the audience so much that they turn into heroes in their own right. Klaus Mikaelson famously terrorized Elena and her friends only to win over fans with his charisma. Sometimes, a character has so much potential in the beginning but then deteriorates as the series brings in further plot twists to keep things interesting. While The Vampire Diaries enthralled fans with its first season, Season 2 was when the show really started showing its true potential. 10 Most Iconic Nina Dobrev Scenes from The Vampire Diaries, Ranked
Image
Let’s be honest – playing one character brilliantly is hard enough, but Nina Dobrev took it to a whole new level in The Vampire Diaries. Her dual portrayal of Elena Gilbert and Katherine Pierce stands as a masterclass in character differentiation, where the slightest shift in posture, vocal tone, or facial expression could instantly signal which character was on screen.

Elena’s journey from an ordinary teenager to a supernatural being allowed Dobrev to showcase remarkable emotional range, while Katherine’s calculated manipulations required a completely different performance style – sophisticated, cunning, and layered with centuries of complex history.

The Best Fights in The Vampire Diaries, Ranked
Image
The Vampire Diaries was an action-packed fantasy show that combined the best of romance, the supernatural, and drama. It was chock-full of both villains and the good guys, and they often had to battle it out to save their loved ones or the quaint town of Mystic Falls. These fights were thrilling to watch because they made the stakes higher, as vampires, werewolves, witches, and humans showcased their best abilities as they took each other on.

These fights were great because they weren't just about physical action but were steeped in character development, high stakes, and a lot of emotional depth, even if that emotion was hatred. The mix of relationships, power struggles, and personal motivations made these fights iconic in The Vampire Diaries.

10 Vampire Diaries Plotlines That Needed Way More Attention

Plotlines were aplenty in The Vampire Diaries, as it spanned eight long seasons. 10 Vampire Diaries Couples Fans Never Appreciate Enough
Image
Romance and relationships were a vital part of The Vampire Diaries. The teens and vampires of Mystic Falls always found time to fall in love and build connections even when supernatural threats loomed, and the show actually had countless couples, both good and bad. While the obvious suspects, like Damon and Elena, were fan favorites, many couples were overlooked despite being as great.

These relationships were either short-lived or were between secondary characters, which is why they were underrated. However, the bond between these characters was just as intense and interesting as some of the mainstream Tvd couples. Fans need to give equal appreciation to these romances, too, as they were vital to the story and their individual character arcs.

The Vampire Diaries: 15 Best Characters from the Entire Franchise, Ranked

In 2013, The Vampire Diaries established an immersive franchise full of magical plot twists and aligned the series with the ever-growing world of cinematic universes. With two spinoffs, The Originals and Legacies, it had some of the best fantasy and lore in television history, not to mention an amazing ensemble of characters in each of the three shows. Often, these characters would overlap from one series to the other, adding to their appeal.

The Vampire Diaries was the first series in the franchise, and it had some compelling characters that had not been seen on teen TV before. The introduction of the Original vampires took it to the next level, and then they had their own New Orleans-based spinoff. Legacies had some of the younger characters growing up and taking center stage, which allowed fans to get a deeper look into their personalities. The Most Tragic Backstories in The Vampire Diaries, Ranked

Much of The Vampire Diaries depended on flashbacks, as history was very important to the plots of the show. Tvd's supernatural lore goes back thousands of years, and some of the oldest supernatural beings, like Klaus and Rebekah, walked the earth in the present day. In these flashbacks, viewers got to see the fantasy, as well as the individual stories of each of these characters.

Unfortunately, many characters had tragic histories which were heartbreaking to watch. From abusive parents and murder to social ostracism, these characters had to tolerate a lot to survive and thrive later in their immortal (and mortal) lives. Their personal setbacks traumatized them for life and informed all of their decision-making as they moved forward.

10 The Vampire Diaries Characters Damon Should've Ended Up With (Instead of Elena)

The central love triangle in The Vampire Diaries between Elena, Stefan, and Damon was the most exciting part of the show, and Damon and Elena became the much-awaited endgame couple on the show. However, not every fan agreed with the conclusion of this love story. They felt that Elena should have ended up with Stefan, and Damon should have ended up with a variety of different characters who were better suited.

Damon and Elena were fundamentally different people, and their values never aligned. They shared excitement and adrenaline together, but their love never seemed convincing. Damon's transition into a human also made little sense, which was why he would have been better with a number of other characters from The Vampire Diaries.

10 The Vampire Diaries Deaths That Make No Sense
Image
Death rarely sticks in The Vampire Diaries. With the existence of the Other Side, Hell, and other realms for supernatural beings, many characters get to come back to life. Even humans can be resurrected. Jeremy, for instance, came back to life several times. Even his seemingly permanent demise turned out to be temporary. On the other hand, some characters were killed off for good.

Being on Team Elena is a key to surviving The Vampire Diaries, but there are also several exceptions. In a show where powerful beings like the creator of hell can meet their demise for good, it's almost impossible to be rid of Katherine Pierce for good. Klaus also has a way of surviving enemies who are more powerful than him and Team Elena's group effort to put him out for good. Even the good Salvatore brother can't avoid a death arc. Not all deaths are well-justified.

10 Most Questionable Things Elena Did in The Vampire Diaries

Nobody was as important as Elena Gilbert in The Vampire Diaries. She stood for kindness, empathy, and goodness in the show, as her actions were largely very selfless, and she was the victim most times. However, Elena was not consistently good, and some of her actions on the show were seriously toxic and largely ignored.

The Original Vampire Diaries Scripts Had a Very Different Ending For Klaus
Image
The Vampire Diaries has worked hard to build up the hype for Joseph Morgan's terrifying villain, Klaus Mikaelson. As an original vampire, Klaus can't be killed like normal vampires. The series first teases him through Katherine Pierce, the Petrova doppelgänger who has been running from Klaus for centuries.

Katherine's evil plan almost fully revolves around this mysterious vampire, who will stop at nothing to get her. The series then introduces Elijah Mikaelson, Klaus' half-brother, a gentleman who gives fans every reason to fear. Klaus' big entry into The Vampire Diaries makes him one of the most important characters in the early seasons. He almost got a completely different ending.

Klaus Is an Important Villain

Klaus is first mentioned in Season 2, Episode 8 of The Vampire Diaries. Before making an appearance, Klaus first uses Alaric's body to approach Elena Gilbert, the new doppelgänger, who's going to take Katherine's place in the sacrifice ritual.

Sorry Tvd Fans, but I Think Katherine Pierce Is a Better Fit for Stefan

The Vampire Diaries made some very questionable decisions in the last few seasons. Katherine Pierce is a beloved villain (played by Nina Dobrev) who has made me hate her and love her at the same time. Her tragic backstory also makes her a sympathetic character, and Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) has the key to her heart.

Stefan showed Katherine kindness while Damon poured salt on her most painful memories. Katherine also loved Stefan the way Elena couldn't. She doesn't judge him for indulging himself at times, and together, they have great vibes. However, The Vampire Diaries did them both dirty. Things would've worked out a lot better if they had a forgiveness and romance arc in the end. I mean, why waste the doppelgänger star-crossed lover story?

The Salvatore brothers in The Vampire Diaries are known for their entangled love triangle, both being in love with Nina Dobrev's character. In 171 episodes of The Vampire Diaries, the show had countless storylines that entwined with each other. The CW drama also had a huge ensemble cast, which made it hard to keep track of every plotline that came up. This was why there were many characters and stories in Mystic Falls that never quite got the resolution they deserved.

Vampiric lore was something that was ever-changing on the show, and sometimes, new rules were made up over old ones, which were forgotten. Sometimes, there were new and important characters introduced, but they disappeared towards the end of their character arcs. These forgotten and unresolved plotlines in The Vampire Diaries left fans scratching their heads.

Blood Sharing Between Vampires

While vampires were discussed extensively in The Vampire Diaries, one particular trait of theirs was only introduced in Season 4. Elena's transformation into a vampire was contentious, and it became worse because she could not keep blood down.

Fantasy and the superhero genre are known to go hand in hand, but one particular connection between two CW shows is quite unexpected. Currently in its final season, Superman & Lois traced the journey of Lois Lane and Clark Kent as they returned to Smallville with their two sons, which turns into a thrilling battle against popular villains like Lex Luthor and Bizarro. However, one opposer of Superman, who eventually turned into his friend, was John Henry Irons, popularly known as Steel. Here is where an unlikely connection forms between The Vampire Diaries and Superman & Lois.

Wol Parks, who plays Steel, also played a pivotal role in The Vampire Diaries. His character was called Arcadius, or Cade for short, and he was literally the devil himself.

The Most Questionable Romantic Decisions in The Vampire Diaries
Image
The Vampire Diaries is, first and foremost, a fantasy, but the romance was what made it go down in history as one of the most iconic teen shows. The central love triangle between Stefan, Elena, and Damon was full of tension, anguish, and sizzling chemistry between both couples and the main highlight of the show. However, the romances between other characters like Jeremy, Bonnie, Klaus, Caroline, and others were just as addictive.

That said, it is clear in retrospect that The Vampire Diaries did not always set a healthy example of love in its romantic arcs. A lot of its teen relationships were grounded in bad habits and poor treatment, and even the adult ones could be quite unhealthy. In fact, some of the most toxic romantic decisions made by Tvd characters led to some lasting damage.

"We Were So Wrong": The Vampire Diaries Nearly Screwed Up Elena, Stefan & Damon's Casting
Image
The Vampire Diaries co-creator Julie Plec reflects on casting the show's three most crucial roles, fifteen years after the show's premiere. One of the most popular teen dramas in recent history, the L.J. Smith adaptation helped launch and reinvigorate the careers of its lead actors Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, and Ian Somerhalder. With their respective performances as Elena Gilbert and the Salvatore brothers, Stefan and Damon, the trio anchored The CW series for most of its run. But with a few changes to The Vampire Diaries' cast could have gone very differently.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, to mark the 15th anniversary of the show's premiere, as it debuted in September 2009, Plec reflected on the drama's legacy and went into detail about the many twists and turns that led to casting Dobrev, Somerhalder, and Wesley. Plec, who created the show with Scream and Dawson's Creek writer Kevin Williamson,...

Every Vampire Who Uses The Cure in The Vampire Diaries
Image
The Vampire Diaries had one of the most immersive universes, so much so that it spawned two spinoffs. Full of twists and turns, The Vampire Diaries upped the stakes when it introduced The Cure in Season 4. Till this time, the norm was that when a human died with vampire blood in their system, they transitioned into vampires themselves, which was a permanent change. However, this was turned on its head with the introduction of The Cure.

In hindsight, it was obvious that something like The Cure would be introduced once Elena turned into a vampire, which happened in Season 3, Episode 22, "The Departed." This legendary object was proved to be real, and it offered a way back to humanity for vampires who never wanted to become immortal. While vampirism was sold as an ideal for most of The Vampire Diaries, humanity became the most coveted thing once The Cure was introduced.

The Vampire Diaries' Most Important Families, Ranked
Image
Many elements made The Vampire Diaries as great as it was, but the immersive worldbuilding was one of the main reasons. Mystic Falls had a rich history that spanned back centuries, and certain families made up the past, present, and future of the town. These families had helped found the town and built it, and their descendants became the main characters of The Vampire Diaries -- think Damon, Stefan, Elena, Caroline, and Tyler.

In addition to the Founding Families, there were a few others too who contributed greatly to the plot of the show. The past actions of these family members reverberated in the present, and their family line carried old legacies into The Vampire Diaries, for good and bad both. These were the most important Tvd families who shaped the CW drama.

This Vampire Diaries Season 2 Scene Makes Me Think 1 Controversial Couple Was Always Endgame
Image
The Vampire Diaries discussions often revolve around the merits of each pairing. Stefan Salvatore and Caroline Forbes Steroline of The Vampire Diaries cast have garnered significant attention and debate among fans. While their eventual romantic relationship has been a subject of controversy, hints at their connection were laid early in the series.

I particularly enjoy a pivotal episode from season 2, "Bad Moon Rising", which showcases the developing chemistry between Stefan and Caroline. I may not necessarily favor the pairing, but theres no denying that their interactions foreshadow their future relationship and highlight the strengths of their dynamic. However, one harsh reality of watching The Vampire Diaries' early seasons is that the showrunners are testing a lot of things out on audiences, leading to continuity issues later.

This Vampire Diaries Episode Remains One of the Show's Darkest

The Vampire Diaries episode "Black Hole Sun" is one of the strangest but also most intense in the series, covering very dark topics. The events of "Black Hole Sun" became defining for many characters in the series.

The CW's The Vampire Diaries was and remains one of the most subversive teen fantasy shows of all time. While it stuck to some well-known tropes like love triangles, the show also went a step further to introduce plot twists that kept the audiences on their toes. The Vampire Diaries Highest-Rated Episode Saved An Otherwise Lackluster Season
Image
The show's highest-rated episode, "The Departed," saved season 3 from being lackluster and delivered unprecedented drama for fans. Season 3 struggled to maintain quality after season 2's success, with expanded cast leading to setup for spin-offs. Despite strong finale, season 4 is considered the worst, as main characters searched for cure with little plot progression.

The CW's long-running hit show The Vampire Diaries contains many highlights, but what many consider to be the show's best episode actually saved what was otherwise a disappointing season. Throughout its run, the show sought to capitalize off of the supernatural creatures/human girl love triangle formula that had made Twilight a global hit. Based on the book series of the same name by L.J. Smith which predates Stephanie Meyers' Twilight novel series The Vampire Diaries had an ensemble cast but primarily followed 17-year-old Elena Gilbert as she encounters the intriguing Salvatore brothers, Damon and Stefan.

10 Vampire Diaries Filming Locations You Can Actually Visit
Image
Vampire Diaries was primarily filmed in Covington, Georgia as the fictional Mystic Falls, but also had some filming locations outside of Georgia. Fans can visit The Mystic Grill, Scoops, Lockwood Mansion, Twelve Oaks Bed & Breakfast, and other iconic places featured on the show. Some filming locations, like the Salvatore Boarding House, were filmed in multiple locations, including ones that are no longer accessible to the public.

Even the biggest fans of the series have wondered where was Vampire Diaries filmed. The series follows a group of teens who become embroiled in the supernatural in a small Virginia town, but it didn't actually film in Virginia. After filming the pilot episode in Vancouver, British Columbia, The Vampire Diaries moved the entire production to Covington, Georgia, where most of the series was filmed as the fictional Mystic Falls. Some Vampire Diaries filming locations can also be found outside of Georgia, though the...

10 The Vampire Diaries Moments That Made Viewers Quit The Show
Image
Warning: This list contains spoilers for all seasons of The Vampire Diaries.

Kevin Williamson's early exit led to The Vampire Diaries losing its co-creator, worrying viewers. Alaric's transformation into a villain and Enhanced Original was unnecessary and repetitive. Sire bonds and questionable choices in relationships led to controversial storylines.

Despite its objectively successful eight-season run, The Vampire Diaries doubtlessly lost some viewers over the years due to specific unpopular moments and storylines. Following the trials of human Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) after she encounters the vampire brother Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder), the concept of The Vampire Diaries means that it is easily overwhelmed by convoluted supernatural elements at some points. Vampires, werewolves, and witches are standard but some other supernatural beings were not as well received.

Additionally, The Vampire Diaries is driven by romantic drama and is marketed that way. However, even the most...

Is Legacies Worth Watching for The Vampire Diaries Fans?
Image
Legacies features several appearances from beloved The Vampire Diaries characters like Alaric and Caroline. The show includes heartwarming moments, such as Klaus and Rebekah's happy ending in Legacies. Legacies contains numerous callbacks that fans of The Vampire Diaries will appreciate.

When The Vampire Diaries premiered in 2009, it arguably became one of the best TV shows of the 2000s. The CW series follows the Salvatore vampire brothers as they try to save their favorite human, Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev), giving fans romance, action and thrilling storylines as the Salvatore brothers' pasts come back to haunt them. The standout performances of Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder secured the shows ever-growing fan base. Newer audiences keep stumbling on this masterpiece even today.

When the show ended in 2017 with Season 8, fans thought it was the last time they would see their favorite characters, but with the spin-off series, The Originals, following hybrid Klaus Mikaelson,...

Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley, and Nina Dobrev in The Vampire Diaries (2009)
The Vampire Diaries, the Arrowverse... Remember When The CW Ruled TV Fandoms?
Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley, and Nina Dobrev in The Vampire Diaries (2009)
The CW used to be the ideal network for soapy teen dramas, sci-fi vampires and werewolf series, and DC superhero shows.

Now, it's a disappointing shell of those days.

The Vampire Diaries premiered back in 2009 and led to two additional spinoffs, while DC's Arrow began in 2012 and also began a massive franchise.

The CW used to include soapy dramas or sci-fi series, such as Supernatural, which launched Jared Padalecki's career.

The CW has only four original series left, and Superman & Lois will air its final season in the fall.

All American and All American: Homecoming are all on the bubble, while Walker was canceled. It seems like The CW has changed its' identity, and it's not favorable.

We long to return to those glory days when The CW ruled TV fandoms.

The Vampire Diaries Franchise Made History

The Vampire Diaries Badly Wasted 1 Main Character In Season 6 (But For A Good Reason)
Image
The writers missed the opportunity to develop Alaric's enhanced original vampire powers in Season 6. Alaric's moral compass made it difficult for him to fully utilize his vampire abilities. Ultimately, Alaric's powers were taken away because his morality conflicted with being an enhanced original vampire.

The Vampire Diaries made some story mistakes over the years, including wasting one main character with so much potential during season 6. Premiering in September 2009, the series ran for eight seasons, introducing a number of lovable The Vampire Diaries main characters with varying degrees of morality and power. Some characters like Stefan, Katherine, and Damon are consistently one species of creature throughout the series. However, other characters like Bonnie, Jeremy, and Alaric change throughout the shows run.

In particular, The Vampire Diaries season 6 provided a major shift for the characters. Bonnie lost her witch powers while living in the prison world alongside Damon. Tyler became a...

Legacies Failing 1 Important Vampire Diaries Villain Shows Why The Spinoff Got Canceled
Image
Legacies strayed from the successful mythology of The Vampire Diaries, losing fans' interest in favor of a lighter tone and new storylines. Bringing back Kai Parker could have saved the show from cancellation, but poor execution failed to capitalize on his potential. The Gemini Coven storyline, along with other rich Tvd plots, was squandered by Legacies' focus on new monsters and lack of darker themes.

Legacies will always be remembered for failing one of the best The Vampire Diaries villains and how it was canceled for discarding the mythology of its predecessor. Legacies had a lighter tone than The Vampire Diaries and The Originals to appeal to younger viewers. From the get-go, Legacies alienated much of the built-in audience by focusing on storylines that wouldn't resonate with those who watched the other shows. By the time Legacies brought a The Vampire Diaries villain into the mix, the show was going in circles.

The Vampire Diaries: How Much Was The Cast Paid For The First & Final Episode
Image
Some actors, such as Matt Davis, on The Vampire Diaries had high salaries likely due to their prior experience in the industry. While Steven R. McQueen received a lower per-episode salary, he still made a lasting impact with his portrayal of Jeremy Gilbert. The main stars, such as Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev, received some of the highest salaries on the show, reflecting their importance to the series.

With eight seasons on the air and a cast of fan-favorite actors, there are some fans who wonder how much The Vampire Diaries cast were paid on the show. Though The Vampire Diaries has been off the air since 2017, the legacy of the hit CW series has been long-lasting, with many returning to revisit the town of Mystic Falls, Virginia, and the endless troubles of Elena Gilbert and her friends in the years since, especially as the franchise has spun off into...
