Sailor Moon's Forgotten Show Is Making a Rare Return to TV After 20 Years
Image
For many fans, Sailor Moon brings to mind the iconic 1990s anime or the original manga by Naoko Takeuchi. But in 2003, the franchise took a surprising leap into live action with Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, a lesser-known TV drama that adapted the beloved magical-girl story into a tokusatsu-style format. Now, after two decades off the air, this long-lost gem is making a rare return.

According to the official Sailor Moon website, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon will begin airing weekly reruns on Japan’s Toei Channel starting July 4. Episodes will be broadcast every Friday and Saturday, marking the first time this series has returned to Japanese TV since it concluded in 2004. For longtime fans, it is an unexpected reunion with a cult classic.

Rare Sailor Moon Series Returns to Television After 20+ Years
Image
In 2003, Toei brought the Sailor Moon franchise to life as an official live-action TV series. While the drama is relatively obscure compared to the original manga and anime, particularly overseas, it's now set to receive a new broadcast slate.

According to the official Sailor Moon website, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon (2003) is scheduled to air weekly on Toei Channel in Japan starting Friday, July 4 (Jst). Reruns of the 49+ episode series are slated to air every Friday from 5-6 p.m. and every Saturday from 8-9 a.m. This information was later confirmed by Sailor Moon's official Japanese X (formerly Twitter) page in a post that also spotlights the series' live-action cast. July 4 will mark the show's first return to domestic broadcast since the finale's airing in September 2004.

Film Review: Gamera the Brave (2005) by Ryuta Tasaki
Image
A decade after the franchise was originally rebooted, the Gamera series was brought back to life with a return to the original kiddie production style of the original Showa-era films. Abandoning all pretenses of the darker, more adult kaiju films from the Heisei trilogy, director Ryuta Tasaki aimed for a complete throwback effort in the final entry for the Gamera saga released by Arrow Video.

Following the death of his mother, young Toru Aizawa (Ryo Tomioka) and his father Kanji (Kanji Tsuda) live alone until Toru finds a strange turtle and bonds with it, taking it home in secret. Raising it with his friend Mai (Kaho), they come to realize that the turtle is growing larger and is soon too big to hide, forcing them to take him out of the home where he disappears one day. When the cause of a recent spate of shipping disasters...

60 Years of Godzilla: A History and Critique of the Greatest Monster Movie Series in Cinema
**Massive spoilers for every Godzilla movie, with the exception of the 2014 reboot, and Mothra follow**

August 6th and 9th, 1945 forever changed the course of history. When the first nuclear bombs were dropped in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, World War II ended, but a new fear was born that dominated the thoughts of all men, women, and children for decades to come. The Cold War, atomic bomb testing, a cartoon turtle telling children to “duck and cover”, and this new technology that had the actual potential to literally end the world changed the perception of what was scary. Art reflects life, so cinema began to capitalize on these fears. Gone were the days of creepy castles, cobwebs, bats, vampires, werewolves, and the other iconic images that ruled genre cinema in film’s earliest decades. Science fiction was larger than ever and giant ants, giant octopi, terror from beyond the stars, and...

High-Kicking Karate Girls In The Salvage Mice Trailer!
Directed by Ryuta Tazaki and starring Mitsuki Tanimura, Julia Nagano and Kai Shishido, Salvage Mice sure looks like a fun action flick! The exciting thing is that filmmaker Fuyuhiko Nishi is serving as the producer, stunt coordinator and action director of the film. Don't know who Nishi is? Well, he was the director of High Kick Girl!, producer of Karate Girl and martial arts choreographer of the classic karate film Black Belt. So I think it is safe to assume there will be some cool action to be found in this new film. The story involves a pair of vigilantes out to catch some art thieves. You can check out the trailer below....
