The View costars Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar will soon share a stage of an entirely different sort: Goldberg will appear for one performance only with Behar in the latter’s Off Broadway comedic play My First Ex-Husband.

Behar announced the team-up on her Instagram account, captioning a photo of the two, “The reunion we’ve been waiting for!”

The matinee performance is set for Wednesday, April 30, at 2 p.m./Et. The play, which features a rotating cast of actresses as directed by Randal Myler, is staged at the newly renovated Mmac Theater on Manhattan’s Upper West Side.

The play’s official synopsis: “If half of all marriages end in divorce, then in My First Ex-Husband, women live to laugh about it….In the world of the play, you’ll meet women married to the mob, to their jobs, to their faith, to money and ultimately to the wrong man.

A24 has become largely known for their work in the indie horror sphere, with everything from the psychological chiller Hereditary to the more directly supernatural Talk to Me. The studio has also made a reputation for frequently collaborating with certain filmmakers, including Robert Eggers on his first two projects, The Witch and The Lighthouse. Now, the studio has sought to expand that to Eggers' filmmaking siblings, Max and Sam Eggers, with the absurdist psychological horror The Front Room, which unfortunately doesn't make the same impact.

The Front Room is a psychological horror film directed by the Eggers Brothers. Set in a single location, it revolves around a young, pregnant woman caring for her ailing grandmother, whose secrets and dementia create a tense and eerie atmosphere. The film stars Brandy Norwood and Kathryn Hunter, and explores themes of family, memory, and the supernatural.

Martin Gage, a veteran Hollywood and New York talent agent whose client roster over the decades included Woody Harrelson, Kirstie Alley, Geraldine Page, Kim Basinger and Tim Robbins, died yesterday in Los Angeles. He was 89.

His death was announced by the Brs/Gage Talent Agency.

Born in New York on May 4, 1934, Gage began his show business career as an actor in the 1950s, performing on and Off Broadway, as well as in summer stock and the Las Vegas production of the musical comedy La Plume De Ma Tante.

Gage shifted his focus to representation in the 1960s, first as a manager, and then as an agent. He joined the Fifi Oscard Agency, and after four years became a partner in the newly-dubbed Oscard-Gage Agency. In 1973, he opened The Gage Group in New York, and two years later moved to Los Angeles to expand the agency.

Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical will have an all-star cast for its one-time-only streaming performance, a line-up that includes Wayne Brady, Kevin Chamberlin, Adam Lambert and André De Shields, with Tituss Burgess as Remy the rat.

Casting for the Jan. 1 Actors Fund benefit performance was announced today by production company Seaview.

The musical was created by TikTok members as a collective work that has engaged more than 200 million fans worldwide. The musical numbers – each created by a TikToker, all inspired by the Disney-Pixar 2007 animated film Ratatouille, and has become a viral internet phenomenon in recent months.

The one-time performance of Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical will feature content created by and culled from the TikTokers, backed by the 20-piece Broadway Sinfonietta orchestra.

It's an honor to be spoofed by Gerard Allesandrini in his Forbidden Broadway The Next Generation and Mary Testa joined in the fun last night at the Triad Theater catching the show with some her fellow Oklahoma company and then meeting face to face with Jenny Lee Stern who plays her as Aunt Eller in the Oklahoma number. Also at the show was Mitch Tebo from the cast of Oklahoma who also joined in the fun.

The Grammys took a fairly expansive sweep with this morning’s nominations for Best Musical Theater Album, The Motown sound, Rodgers & Hammerstein, the folk-rock music of Anaïs Mitchell, the reworked radio hits of Moulin Rouge! and Imogen Heap’s Harry Potter musical suites were all represented.

But four of the five nominations did not include composers, since the music was not original to the cast albums. In the case of several, the musical numbers consist largely of oldies, some reworked for contemporary settings. Anaïs Mitchell’s previous concept album for Hadestown was already Grammy-nominated upon its release in 2010.

We’ve unearthed the running order of the 2019 Tony Awards hosted by James Corden on CBS on Sunday, June 9. Over the course of upwards of three-and-half-hours, winners will be announced in 26 competitive categories. Below is the presentation order for the 73rd annual Tonys.

The eight design Tonys will be handed out in the half hour before the show goes live at 8 p.m. Et as will the award for Best Orchestrations. Those winners will be showcased throughout the telecast, with inserts of their acceptance speeches.

As usual, the first award on the broadcast will be one of the featured acting races (this year it is on the musical side of the aisle) while the show closes with a big one, Best Musical. In between, the winners of the other 15 Tonys races will be revealed as detailed in the presentation order below.

While the Drama Desk Awards nominate a slew of off-Broadway fare, the winners invariably come from Broadway. That was once again the case on Sunday when all but one of the 16 champs in the musical races were Broadway productions while it was 8 of 12 on the play side.

This love of all things Broadway even extended to “Hadestown,” which was only in contention for new elements such as cast members after having contended here previously for it Off-Broadway run. It won four awards: Director (Rachel Chavkin), Featured Actor in a Musical (Andre De Shields), Lighting Design, and Sound Design.

One of its main rivals for Best Musical at the Tony Awards is “Tootsie,” which claimed victories for Best Actor (Santino Fontana), Book, Music, and Lyrics. But it was another contender, “The Prom,” that swooped in and claimed Best Musical despite losing all of its other bids.

The winners for the 64th Annual Drama Desk Awards were announced Sunday night with Jez Butterworth’s The Ferryman winning for Outstanding Play and The Prom taking home the trophy for Outstanding Musical.

Other big winners for the night included The Waverly Gallery and Fidder on the Roof winning for Outstanding Revival of a Play and Outstanding Revival of a Musical respectively. Dance Nation received a special Ensemble Award while Montana Levi Blanco was honored with the Sam Norkin Award.

The ceremony was hosted by Michael Urie and took place at at The Town Hall in Manhattan. The evening included performances by Drama Desk nominee George Salazar (Be More Chill) who was accompanied by composer/lyricist and Drama Desk nominee Joe Iconis. The complete list of nominations for the 2019 Tony Awards has been released. This year, Hadestown leads all nominees with a total of 14 nominations including Best Musical. Director Daniel Fish’s acclaimed headed-to-Broadway production of Oklahoma! will arrive at the Circle in the Square Theatre with its much-praised Off Broadway cast largely intact, producer Eva Price announced today.

“I am delighted to welcome this incredible cast to Broadway,” Price said in a statement. “This is a group of performers rich with talent and humility. Individually, they bring incredible depth and authenticity to these iconic characters. Together, they form an ensemble that is full of humanity, spirit and inspiration.”

Though it does not boast superstar marquee names, the production found its way to numerous best-of-the-year lists following its sold out run at Brooklyn’s St. Ann’s Warehouse performance space last fall. Previews for the previously announced transfer to Broadway begin Tuesday, March 19, with an official opening on Sunday, April 7. The limited engagement runs through Sunday, September 1.

The acclaimed production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma! that sold out Brooklyn’s St. Ann’s Warehouse this fall will transfer to Broadway in March, producer Eva Price announced today.

The announcement immediately upends any Tony Award predictions – the St. Ann’s limited-run Off Broadway production was praised by critics and the Broadway staging will almost certainly be an awards contender.

Directed by Daniel Fish, Oklahoma! will begin previews at Broadway’s Circle in the Square Theatre on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, with an official opening on Sunday, April 7. The limited engagement will run through Sunday, Sept. 1.

“What an incredible moment to be producing on Broadway, in the middle of this wonderfully eclectic season spurred by an audience that is hungry for bold, daring work,” Price said. “Daniel Fish’s timeless and timely revival of this classic speaks so vividly to the place we as Americans are living in today.”

Having seen Mary Testa in a cabaret concert in Houston, I feel I had an idea of what to expect from her and Michael Starobin's album Have Faith. While I expected it to be eccentrically eclectic and haunting, nothing could have prepared me for how it was beautifully hypnotizing and simultaneously so unlike anything I've ever heard before. On Thursday, November 6th it was announced that Cafe Edison in Times Square is being denied a new lease by The Hotel Edison management. The diner -- which has served as a hub for the Broadway community for more than 30 years -- is expected to close at the end of the year. The story has sparked an outpouring of support from the Broadway community and New Yorkers at large, as well as produced a widely circulated online petition.
