Kathryn Taylor
Trailer drops for true-crime docu-series ‘Bibaa & Nicole: Murder in the Park’
Kathryn Taylor
Sky has debuted the trailer for true-crime docu-series ‘Bibaa & Nicole: Murder in the Park.’

The raw and compelling docu-series unravels the story behind the shocking killings of sisters Bibaa Henry and Nicole Smallman, and the police misconduct that followed.

As the Covid lockdown began to ease in June 2020, a group of friends met in a London park following Covid guidance to celebrate the birthday of 46-year-old Bibaa Henry. As darkness falls, the friends gradually head home, while sisters Nicole and Bibaa stay, dancing in the park.

When Bibaa and Nicole fail to return home and friends report the women as missing, their disappearance is not acted upon by the police, and the search is left to friends and family. 36 crucial hours later, the bodies of Bibaa and Nicole are tragically found by Nicole’s partner. Finally, the police take notice, but in a shocking development, the women’s bodies are...

Towerborne Preview: A Co-Op Action RPG With Strong Beat 'Em Up Roots
Image
Quick Links A New Beautiful Aesthetic Distinct From The Banner Saga Designing Your Own New Towerborne Ace Four Weapon-Based Classes To Choose From Ride Into The Danger Zone Final Thoughts On The Towerborne Preview

One part belt-scroller beat em up, one part loot-based action RPG. Its not a common pairing, but Towerbornes Early Access showing makes the combination work. Developer Stoic of The Banner Saga fame follows up its critically acclaimed Srpg trilogy with an entirely new genre, though its a risk tempered by its F2P trappings and the publishing might of Xbox Game Studios behind it. Considering what came before, Towerbornes stunning visual presentation is hardly a surprise, but it joins an addictive grind and solid fundamentals that could lure players who normally wouldnt turn to a freemium option for their beat em up fix.

For online RPG beat em ups, people might think of either MapleStory itself...

“Can I Invite You to Think Differently About Me?” A Candid Convo Between THR Trailblazers Eva Longoria and Niecy Nash-Betts
Image
Roughly 20 years after breaking out on Comedy Central’s Reno 911! and ABC’s soapy drama Desperate Housewives, respectively, Niecy Nash-Betts and Eva Longoria are deep into second acts that, for them, were inevitable.

For Nash-Betts, it’s been a slow burn to be seen as a dramatic actor because, as she says of her God-given talent, “The Most High put being funny in my DNA.” But the biz has caught up: The three-time Emmy nominee for acting is a leading contender this year for playing Glenda Cleveland in Netflix’s Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, a role for which she’s already won a 2023 Critics Choice Award. Nash-Betts also recently wrapped her first season as the lead and executive producer of ABC’s The Rookie: Feds.

Longoria, who considers herself “a director-producer who fell into acting,” is now a prolific creator of shows — including CNN’s travelogue...

Representation in the arts matters, and for young, up and coming stars representing a minority, it’s important and powerful to be recognised, and vitally, to be seen. This year we had the pleasure to speak to two of the breakthroughs, in British actress Rose Ayling-Ellis, as well as American actor Brandon Perea, who made his name with a role in Jordan Peele’s Nope. We spoke about their thoughts on being named a Breakthrough star, and what it means for them personally and for their respective careers. We also look back on projects been, such as Eastenders for Ayling-Ellis, and Nope for Perea, and look ahead to the future,...

Larenz Tate Set As Regular On New USA Series ‘Rush’
Rescue Me alum Larenz Tate has been upped to series regular on USA’s original medical drama series Rush, set to premiere July 17. From writer-director Jonathan Levine and Fox 21, Rush follows Dr. William Rush (Tom Ellis), a “medical fixer” who privately caters to La’s elite. Tate plays Dr. Alex Thomas, Rush’s best friend dating back to medical school and one of the few constants in his life. Unlike Rush, Alex is a man with a plan — he works as a high-ranking physician at one of Los Angeles’ top hospitals and appears to have the ideal family life that Rush has long resisted. Tate played the role in the pilot as a guest star as he was in second position to comedy pilot Mr. Robinson at USA sibling NBC. Mr. Robinson has since been picked up to series but Tate won’t continue on the series, instead taking on full-time duties on Rush.

The Banner Saga: Factions - If Don Bluth Created a Tactics Game
The Banner Saga’s animation style brings to mind animated classics like An American Tale or games like Dragon’s Lair mixed with some Viking inspired lore. Beneath its beautiful looks and fluid hand drawn animation, however, lies an interesting and deep turn-based combat game, at least from what I’ve experienced so far, and that’s without even getting to touch the promised choice driven single player story. Interested? Read on brother, this might be the game for you.

Its probably worth noting that I only had my initial viewing of Thor: The Dark World just 2 days ago, so with Banner’s Viking roots I now have an excuse to use words like Tis, Henceforth, and an overuse of the word brother.

To Arms!

Okay, I’m good now. Anyway, for those interested in The Banner Saga, it's worth noting it was developed by just three people--Alex Thomas,...
