The Voice That Ties It All Together
However, amidst the glitz and chaotic brilliance, there’s one constant that quietly commands attention, and that is the powerful voice that guides the show, announcing nominees and ushering in each new award.
If you’ve ever paused mid-ceremony, thinking that deep, authoritative tone sounded familiar, you’re not alone. Viewers flooded Twitter with their suspicions, trying to pinpoint exactly where they’d heard it before.

Sebastian Stan was highly praised for portraying Donald Trump in the biographical drama, The Apprentice. While the movie did not make a huge splash at the box office, it stirred up a lot of controversy prior to its release, thanks mainly to the former and new president of America. Now Stan has revealed that since Trumps unprecedented election victory, he has found himself being shut out when it comes to being able to speak about the movie even having to cancel an episode of Varietys Actors on Actors series as no one would participate with him.
Speaking at a Q&a after a screening of The Apprentice, Stan joined director Ali Abbasi to talk about the film, and revealed that he has struggled to find people willing to openly discuss the movie and its subject in any way for fear of receiving some kind of blowback for it. Stan said:...

Director Ali Abbasi risked his career to direct the upcoming biopic about former U.S. President Donald Trump called The Apprentice. The Holy Spider director has already worked with sensitive topics based on real-life events, so The Apprentice seemed right up his alley, but other directors and distributors were not willing to take the risk. Abbasi has been vocal about his struggle to make the film and score a distributor, encountering networks like ABC and CBS that refuse to air the movie in TV spots. As the 2024 election grows closer, new details about the tough production are being revealed.

This review was originally published during the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.
Since its announcement, the Donald Trump biopic has had a looming shadow of controversy around it. Given the former president's life story, it's easy to see why folks would be for or against it. The Apprentice premiered at the Cannes Film Festival to resounding applause. Written by Gabriel Sherman and directed by Ali Abbasi, the story follows Trump's early career and his quest to expand his real estate under the guidance of lawyer Roy Cohn. While the film is exactly what you'd expect, it comes with stunning performances and an exciting script that enchants with its drama.

Glenn Close looks solid to finally win her first Oscar on Sunday, for Best Actress for “The Wife.” But the seven-time nominee is associated with another Best Actress win — and a pretty big one at that — though you might not realize it at first.
In 2002, Close and Donald Sutherland were tapped to be the Voices of Oscar for the 74th ceremony, which was just a fancy way of saying they were the announcers. So instead of getting a regular announcer or voiceover artist — Randy Thomas, the first woman to announce the Oscars, is returning for her 10th stint this weekend — to read ad break teases, presenter introductions and a winner’s Oscar history, the academy went with a then-five-time nominee and someone who still has yet to be nominated.

Anyway, things were going swell until Best Actress.

“Nightline” is no longer being tailored solely for late-night newshounds.
The venerable ABC News show, which has its roots in the network’s end-of-day coverage of the 1979 Iran hostage crisis, is quietly branching out to new venues. On Monday evening, Freeform, the cable network that is, like ABC, part of Walt Disney Co., will show “For Our Lives: Parkland,” a “Nightline” documentary that follows the lives of several students in the aftermath of the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
Executive producer Steven Baker feels there’s more “Nightline” can do. “’Nightline’ is more than just a time slot,” he says. “This is a brand that tells stories, no matter where it is seen.”
The hour long-special marks the first time “Nightline” and Freeform have partnered on a project. “Nightline” producers were able to embed themselves with some of the Parkland students, and not just at school events or demonstrations.
