Stars: Brody Bett, Alexandra Paul, Jared Laufree, Kareem Ferguson, Chris Demm | Written by Jeff Cox, Daniel Robinette, Michael Scott, Aaron Sorgius, Kayla Stuhr, Jeremy Tassone, Cooper Thornton | Directed by Daniel Robinette

A young boy named Solomon (Brody Bett) who we quickly realize is blind and tethered to the cabin he lives in, checks animal traps with a long stick as his mother Nidia looks on. Back home she oversees his efforts to gut and clean a squirrel caught in one of them.

Years later the now grown Solomon (Jared Laufree) lives alone, his mother having vanished with no explanation. He lives alone, but still follows the three rules she drilled into his head. To always give back to the forest which provides for him, when his will is almost gone, find comfort in their song, and, most importantly, never, ever let go of the rope.

Director Daniel Robinette, who is...

Sully Movie Review: Clint Eastwood Teaches Heroism 101 to 'the Pussy Generation'
'Sully' movie with Tom Hanks as pilot Chesley Sullenberger: Clint Eastwood homage to 'the durable, honorable American male.' 'Sully' movie review: 'Taut, straightforward' drama features Clint Eastwood's latest all-American hero When considering Sully, Clint Eastwood's taut, straightforward account of heroism on trial, it helps to remember that the title character's name works as both noun and verb. And one can see how Eastwood was drawn to both meanings. The noun, of course, is the nickname of airline pilot Chesley Sullenberger, who saved the lives of 155 passengers and crew on January 15, 2009, by pulling off a daring water landing after a flock of birds took out both engines of his Us Airways flight minutes after it took off from New York's Laguardia airport. The Sully depicted here is, like many Eastwood heroes, made of uniquely American clay; a sturdy, rigorous material that the director,...

Will Ferrell at an event for Land of the Lost (2009)
Will Ferrell to Play Ronald Reagan in New Comedy
Will Ferrell at an event for Land of the Lost (2009)
After spending years imitating President George W. Bush on Saturday Night Live and on Broadway, Will Ferrell will be taking on another President. The actor has signed on to star in and produce Reagan, where he'll play U.S. President Ronald Reagan. The script by Mike Rosolio landed on The Black List last year as one of the best unproduced screenplays.

The story is described as a "hilarious political satire" by Variety, following Ronald Reagan as he falls into dementia at the start of his second term, when an ambitious intern is tasked with convincing the commander in chief that he is an actor playing the president in a movie. The script got so much buzz on The Black List that the company put on a live reading in Hollywood last month, with James Brolin reading the title role. The rest of the cast for that one-night-only live read included John Cho,...

'Parks and Recreation' history, Part 1: Perd, Joan and the other Pawnee crazies
Michael Schur
A few weeks ago, while working on my review of the “Parks and Recreation” episode “Save Jj’s,” I asked people on Twitter for the name of one of the show’s weirder recurring characters, the creepy, heavily-tattooed owner of Pawnee’s pawn shop. My followers identified him as Herman Lerpiss — and, better, pointed out that there have been a lot of characters named Lerpiss in Pawnee over the years, often with far more elaborate biographies than has ever been suggested on the show itself. This made me realize that, while I have interviewed “Parks” co-creator Mike Schur many times over the years about major developments for Leslie, Ron, April, Andy, and the rest of the show’s main characters (you can read some of those interviews here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here , here and here), I’d barely scratched the surface of all the crazy background characters...

Red State (2011) Movie Trailer, Movie Poster: Kevin Smith
Red State Trailer, Red State Poster. Kevin Smith‘s Red State (2011) movie trailer, movie poster stars Melissa Leo, Michael Parks, John Goodman, Michael Angarano, and Nicholas Braun. Red State‘s plot synopsis: “Red State begins by following three horny high school boys who come across an online ad from an older woman looking for a gang bang. Boys being boys, they hit the road to satisfy their libidinal urges. But what begins as a fantasy takes a dark turn as they come face-to-face with a terrifying “holy” force with a fatal agenda.”

We previously posted the Red State (2011) Teaser Trailer.

This reminds me of Eli Roth‘s Cabin Fever, a horror film that went back to the basics and didn’t rely on formula, whether successful in that endeavor or not.

Red State also stars Ronnie Connell, Kaylee DeFer, Kyle Gallner, Anna Gunn, Matt L. Jones, John Lacy, Catherine McCord,...
