‘Elvis’ Star Austin Butler Thrusts Hips at Cannes, Gaining 12-Minute Standing Ovation
Image
The audience at the Cannes Film Festival was trembling for Austin Butler as the King in Baz Luhrmann’s world premiere of “Elvis.”

The film received an uproarious 12-minute standing ovation, the longest of this year’s festival so far.

As the the cheers went on and on, a teary-eyed Butler hugged an equally-emotional Priscilla Presley, who flew to the South of France to give her blessing for the movie about her late husband.

The Warner Bros. musical drama had Cannes spontaneously erupting into applause as Butler recreated some of Presley’s greatest hits including “Jailhouse Rock,” “Blue Suede Shoes” and “Suspicious Minds.”

“Elvis” is one of the biggest titles to screen at Cannes, with a star-studded carpet that included Sharon Stone, Shakira, Kylie Minogue, Diplo, Jeremy O. Harris and Italian rock band Måneskin.

It wasn’t only celebrity power lighting up the red carpet, either: Warner Bros. Discovery CEO...

Clint Eastwood, Morgan Freeman, Gene Hackman, and Richard Harris in Unforgiven (1992)
20/20 Awards 2013 Nominations Honor the Best Movies of 1992
Clint Eastwood, Morgan Freeman, Gene Hackman, and Richard Harris in Unforgiven (1992)
This morning the Voting Syndicate of the 20/20 Awards announced this year's nominees at Seattle's prestigious Casbah Club. Twenty years after winning the Oscar for Best Picture and Director, Clint Eastwood's Western Unforgiven is once again the front-runner with nine 20/20 Award nominations. Following close behind with 8 nominations each are Howards End and Dracula.

Other notable nominations include Quentin Tarantino's freshman effort, Reservoir Dogs, Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct, and while Marisa Tomei's win for Best Supporting Actress (My Cousin Vinny) was considered suspect 20 years ago, her work was deemed worth a second look in 2012. However, Best Actor winner Al Pacino (Scent of a Woman) was left on the cutting room floor this time around.

Below is a list of the Big 6. For a complete look at all of this year's nominees, please clickHere

DVD Review: Odd Release of ‘Strictly Ballroom: Special Edition’
Chicago – A few weeks ago, we acclaimed the beauty of the Blu-ray releases of Baz Luhrmann’s “Moulin Rouge!” and “Romeo + Juliet.” Oh what a difference a studio can make. While Fox treated those Luhrmann films with HD respect, Disney has decided to release his first film, the great “Strictly Ballroom” in a lackluster standard DVD special edition that would have been great in 2006 but times have changed.

DVD Rating: 3.0/5.0

The most terrifying thing about the “Strictly Ballroom: Special Edition” may not be that it’s lackluster in comparison to the great Blu-rays of “Moulin Rouge!” and “Romeo + Juliet” but that it appears to not be a tie-in to those releases but something far more terrifying. The back of the DVD case says “The Film That Started the Dancing With the Stars Phenomenon!” Really?!?! A 1992 Australian film that made $12 million inspired “Dancing With the Stars”?!?! What’s next? A...
