“We’re gonna rerecord five of our classic hits in kind of the rerecord/get-your-masters-back move,” Nick said. “And then we’re also gonna have five new songs as well, and a new single coming out at the top of the year.”
Jeff noted that the group has been talking about doing it for some time because “there have been opportunities for our songs. And you know, you have these battles with the label.” But it was the global pop star who actually pushed them to make the jump.

Jeff Timmons, Justin Jeffre and brothers Nick and Drew Lachey joked about it when asked “how annoyed” they felt about their old rivals’ announcement of their first new song in 20 years.
“Stole the thunder,” Nick laughed, but Jeffre quickly added, “It’s a boy band universe.”
In fact, all four members of the band expressed their excitement at both boy bands being reunited.
“When one succeeds, we all succeed. Because we’re all kind of like us, Nsync, Backstreet Boys, we’re all clumped into the same, into the same kind of pile there.

Aaron Carter’s death has been ruled an accident, according to the Los Angeles Medical Examiner.
The late singer and younger brother of Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter was found dead on Nov. 5 at the age of 34. At the time, no cause of death was given, but according to an autopsy report obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, Carter’s manner of death was an accident, caused by drowning and the effects of difluoroethane and alprazolam, a generic form of Xanax.
The toxicology report found the presence of difluoroethane, a gas commonly used in air spray cleaners for electronic devices that can induce feelings of euphoria when inhaled, the report explained. Alprazolam, on the other hand, can have depressant effects, which can cause drowsiness and sedation, according to the coroner.
The investigation into Carter’s death found that the singer was submerged in his bathtub when medical responders arrived. Carter had...

Aaron Carter’s sister, Angel Conrad, is opening up about losing her “selfless” twin, how she and older brother, Nick Carter, are carrying each through their grief and why the loss has “lit a fire” inside her to fight mental illness.
Aaron passed away in November following a long struggle with mental illness and addiction. He was 34. Amid her grief, Angel organized Wednesday’s star-studded West Hollywood benefit concert, Songs for Tomorrow, to celebrate Aaron’s life and generate conversation around mental illness.
“I will always remember Aaron as a selfless, goofy person, who ultimately just wanted to be loved,” Angel told Et Canada prior to the concert. “Unfortunately, he didn’t learn to love himself first, which is something a lot of people struggle with. In his own words, self-love meant self-respect and self-worth — he had a hard time with that.”

The recording industry has certainly transformed since 98 Degrees came onto the scene 25 years ago, but one thing remains the same: "There's still some great music being made," Nick Lachey tells Popsugar. Ahead of a 98 Degrees reunion concert at all-inclusive resort Beaches Turks & Caicos in late August, the R&b group chat with Popsugar about nostalgia's impact on their revival, all things '90s boy bands, and what members Nick and Drew Lachey, Jeff Timmons, and Justin Jeffre have been up to since they first started adorning posters.
Last summer, the band released new music for the first time in eight years: an upbeat track called "Where Do You Wanna Go" that was "great for the moment." "Everybody had been in lockdown for so long, and when things were opening back up, we thought the song was incredibly catchy and just represented fun," Jeffre says. "Everybody was ready to get back out and have some fun.

When it came to being around a certain member of Backstreet Boys, there was a period when Nsync star Chris Kirkpatrick couldn't take no more, and it ain't no lie. The 49-year-old singer joined Backstreet Boys' Aj McLean over the weekend to perform their new single "Air" as part of the Music for Life fundraiser held at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino. The pair performed as Atck (All the Cool Kids), a group Aj co-founded that features a rotating roster of musicians. In Variety's sit-down with himself, Aj and 98 Degrees' Jeff Timmons that took place at the event and published on Tuesday, June 8, Chris admitted he wasn't always fond of Aj,...

(Warning: This post contains spoilers for the Season 5 finale of Fox’s “The Masked Singer.”)
Piglet was crowned the Season 5 winner of “The Masked Singer” tonight and unmasked to reveal singer, actor and TV personality Nick Lachey as the man inside the pink costume. But Lachey said his kids have known who he was ever since the season premiere on March 10 — unlike his clueless 98 Degrees bandmates.
“You know what, I don’t know if they just weren’t watching or what. But my brother [Drew Lachey] kind of heard about it and chimed in,” Lachey told TheWrap, noting that if Drew, Jeff Timmons and Justin Jeffre did figure out he was competing on “The Masked Singer,” none of them pushed him on the matter.
“But the funniest reaction, I think, was my kids,” Lachey continued. “We were watching the premiere episode and I was holding my daughter. I think I...

After nailing his cover of the Phil Collins classic “Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now”) on the Week 8 episode, the Piglet heads into the May 12 quarterfinals as the frontrunner to win season 5 of “The Masked Singer.” We’ve been a fan of his since he made his debut in Week 2 with his version of the Dan + Shay hit “Speechless.”
We’ve been sure about the real name of the Piglet since that first appearance. We concur with the four judges that the Piglet got his start in a boy band. However we don’t think he is Lance Bass, Brian Littrell, Aj McLean or Kevin Richardson.
Each time he has performed since, we became even more convinced we were right with our guess about the Piglet’s true identity. We went back and watched all his performances including “Good to Be Alive (Hallelujah)” by Andy Grammer...

The Piglet has been one of the favorites to win season 5 of “The Masked Singer” since he made his first appearance back in Week 2. He rocked the room then with his cover of the Dan + Shay hit “Speechless.” In Week 4 he nailed his cover of “Good to Be Alive (Hallelujah)” by Andy Grammer. The following week he did it again with “7 Years” by Lukas Graham. Then in Week 7, he impressed the four judges by shifting genres so seamlessly and delivering yet again with a performance of “The Pretender” by Foo Fighters.
When it comes to guessing the true identity of the Piglet, the judges are on the right track with their thinking that he got his start in a boy band. However we disagree with them that the Lance Bass, Aj McLean or Kevin Richardson. We’ve gone back and rewatched all of his appearances and clues packages.

With every appearance on “The Masked Singer,” the Piglet has moved one step closer to winning the Golden Mask for season 5. On April 21, he wowed us once again with his change-of-pace performance of “The Pretender” by Foo Fighters. The four judges were equally impressed with his cover of this rock classic. We agree with them that the Piglet got his start in a boy band, but we don’t think he is Lance Bass, Aj McLean or Kevin Richardson.

Hey, fellow Big Brother fans. We've got some crazy news for you guys today. We just found out that a crazy, new music video recently got released by a former Big Brother houseguest who just keeps popping up summer after summer when the show airs. (We've included a Youtube link to the music video at the end of this article.) The former houseguest we're talking about is none other than the muscle man himself, Jessie Godderz seasons 10 and 11! That's right, guys. We just can't get rid of this guy. He's back on the scene and now trying to sing in a new music video! And we really put the emphasis on "trying to sing" because that's all he's doing. Make no mistake. The vocals in this video are terrible, but it is funny as hell. It also feature another former Big Brother player. That player is the very beautiful Morgan Willett.

Talk about a Flashback Friday!
Nick Lachey shared a hilarious photo from his boy band days in 98 Degrees on Instagram Friday. “Found this on an article titled ’25 boy band shoots that went horribly wrong.’ Do you think it was the leopard print chair or the overalls?” the singer asked his over 500,000 followers.
The ever-so ’90s ensemble is a stark contrast to Lachey’s present day wardrobe – except perhaps for his sequinned outfits from his season on Dancing with the Stars months ago when he competed on the ABC dancing competition with his wife Vanessa Lachey.

Just 20 years after famed boyband 98 Degrees released their self-titled debut album, band members Nick Lachey, Drew Lachey, Jeff Timmons and Justin Jeffre are celebrating by returning to the stage for a tour to support their upcoming second Christmas album, Let It Snow.

Nick Lachey has a message for his younger self.
"I would have told myself 20 years ago, 'Change your hairstyle,'" the singer, now 43, tells Et. "Don't go with the 'butt cut.'"
Saturday, July 29 marks the 20th anniversary of 98 Degrees' debut, self-titled album and the release of their first single, "Invisible Man." In honor of the milestone, Et asked the band about their memories from that day and the wisdom they've gained since.
"It seems like yesterday, really," Jeff Timmons, 44, says. "In that particular time, I think we were driving ourselves around in a Winnebago that was wrapped with our pictures on it and we were out there hustling and doing grass roots promotion ... But the excitement of the whole thing, this germinated from a dream that we had together and all of a sudden we're out there, the album's in stores and we're actually going into stores ourselves and buying our own records -- all that...
