Eyes of Wakanda has just premiered on Disney+, and it changes everything we thought we knew about Marvel Studios' Black Panther franchise.
The series follows multiple characters throughout history as they attempt to retrieve and return powerful artefacts to the isolationist nation of Wakanda. In the finale (which is set in 1896), we're introduced to a Black Panther from 500 years in the future, played by Anika Noni Rose.
The future Queen of Wakanda has travelled back in time because Wakanda and the world have fallen to the alien Horde. She warns Prince Tafari and Kuda that the Vibranium axe they've tracked down must not be returned to her home. By leaving the axe out in the world, it will one day be stolen by Erik Killmonger, drawing T'Challa out from the shadows and ultimately leading to Wakanda revealing itself to the world.

HBO announced that filming is officially underway on the third season of House of the Dragon back in April, and we now have some fairly late casting news that fans of George R.R. Martin's Fire and Blood have been eagerly anticipating.
Deadline reports that Annie Shapero will play Alysanne Blackwood, aka Black Aly, in season 3. In the source material, Blackwood is a mighty warrior who ends up siding with Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) in the Dance of the Dragons before marrying Lord Cregan Stark (Tom Taylor.)
In the season 2 finale, Rhaenyra and Daemon (Matt Smith) put their differences aside and joined forces as they prepared to launch a full-scale attack on King's Landing.
We'll be meeting quite a few new faces in season 3, with James Norton (Happy Valley) previously joining the cast as Ormund Hightower, along with Tommy Flanagan as Ser Roderick Dustin, aka "Roddy the Ruin," and...

Over the last two years, Marvel’s television slate faced a whole lot of shifting, followed by an entire revamping of its structure, and it seems to have finally found its groove. And there’s still quite a few shows on the horizon.
According to Marvel TV head Brad Winderbaum, the studio is now “thinking about television really more like traditional television” — which in some cases means multiple seasons. “Loki,” “Daredevil: Born Again” and “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” are so far the only series to get more than one, though Winderbaum offered hope for “Agatha All Along” and “Hawkeye.”
In the meantime, it’s hard for anyone to keep track of all these series in their head. So, we went ahead and compiled a list for you of every confirmed Marvel TV show currently in the works to premiere on Disney+.

This Friday, Marvel Studios/Marvel Animation releases all four episodes of Eyes of Wakanda, a Black Panther prequel series set in the McU's distant past.
While there's a lot of excitement to see the world of Wakanda expand with this story about the Hatut Zaraze, easily the most intriguing part of the show is Marvel Studios' plan to introduce a new, female Iron Fist (generations before Danny Rand inherits the mantle).
We still don't have a name for the Iron Fist who was first spotted in a new trailer and character poster released yesterday, but Jona Xiao is now confirmed to be voicing the character in Eyes of Wakanda.
The actor broke the news on Instagram, writing, "So stoked to reveal I’m playing the MCU’s 1st ever female Iron Fist! Catch Marvel's 'Eyes of Wakanda,' dropping on Disney+ August 1st!"

Following its exciting unveiling at Annecy International Animation Festival last month, Marvel Animation's Eyes of Wakanda will be available for fans to enjoy on Disney+ earlier than anticipated.
As we first reported last week, the all-new series, consisting of four episodes, will debut on August 1. Joining the official announcement are a jaw-dropping new trailer and set of character posters, one of which introduces us to the McU's first Iron Fist.
Finn Jones played Danny Rand in Netflix's Iron Fist TV series, but this marks the first time we've seen a protector of K'un-Lun on the "Sacred Timeline," a.k.a. Earth 616.
The new action-adventure series, produced in partnership with Proximity Media's Zinzi Coogler, Sev Ohanian and Kalia King, follows the adventures of brave Wakandan warriors throughout history. In this globe-trotting adventure, the heroes must carry out dangerous missions to retrieve Vibranium artefacts from the enemies of Wakanda.

Marvel's Eyes of Wakanda animated spin-off anthology series will be taking viewers back to the titular nation much sooner than expected. In an exclusive conversation with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Todd Harris confirmed that all four episodes, which were originally set to premiere on August 27, will now arrive on Disney+ on August 1. It's a big shock considering the team hasn't gotten a ton of chances to speak out about the project, and all that's been seen so far is a short teaser. Moreover, the news is a nice update to tide fans over since Marvel decided to skip San Diego Comic-Con this year.

The cast and crew of House of the Dragon continues to film season 3. They're shooting a lot of stuff, but we've seen them work especially hard on a major action sequence set to kick off the new season: the Battle of the Gullet, where ships and dragons mix it up near the island of Driftmark.
Without giving too much away, the Battle of the Gullet is a major clash between House Velaryon on the one hand and the Triarchy on the other, with the Velaryons fighting for Queen Rhaenyra and the Triarchy pirates sailing for King Aegon II. Obviously, dragons also get involved, because what else did you expect on this show?

HBO is currently filming the third season of House of the Dragon, and we're getting a close-up view of a lot of the action. Tons of reports and set pics have been leaking lately as the show films on location in Wales and England, and the flood hasn't stopped. Beware Spoilers beyond this point!
A lot of the on-location filming in Wales has involved the Battle of the Gullet, a huge naval battle that was originally supposed to serve as the climax to the second season of the show. It's now been pushed to the start of the third; expect to see it in the premiere episode.
The Battle of the Gullet involves a clash between a fleet led by Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint) on the one side and a fleet captained by Sharako Lohar (Abigail Thorn) on the other; Corlys fights for Queen Rhaenyra and Lohar on behind of her rival King Aegon II.

HBO is in the thick of filming on the third season of House of the Dragon, and we're getting a lot of up-close looks lately; that's what happens when you film on location and there are curious shutterbugs in the area.
Today we have some of the most interesting images yet. They seem to concern a major action sequence called the Battle of the Gullet, which we're likely to see very early in the new season. Be warned that there will be Spoilers for George R.R. Martin's book Fire & Blood from here on out.
Season 2 ended with a bunch of armies and navies on the precipice of conflict. Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint) boarded his flagship along with his illegitimate son Alyn of Hull (Abubakar Salim), ready to patrol the seas and fight for his queen, Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy). Meanwhile, Tyland Lannister (Jefferson Hall) sailed across the Narrow Sea...

HBO is filming the third season of House of the Dragon as we speak. The second season ended on a number of cliffhangers. Alicent Hightower planned to betray her children and help Rhaenyra Targaryen take King's Landing, Corlys Velaryon's fleet was about to engage a pirate fleet led by Sharako Lohar, Aemond Targaryen was setting out for Harrenhal hoping to take on his uncle Daemon, and more.
And then there was Rhaena Targaryen, Daemon's daughter played by Phoebe Campbell. She was sent to the Vale to watch over her younger half-brothers, but left them in the season 2 finale to chase a wild dragon living in the area. We left her just as she found it.
Now, we're getting reports about the next leg of Rhaena's journey. According to House the Dragons, Phoebe Campbell was filming recently in Capel Curig, Wales alongside Emma D'Arcy (Rhaenyra Targaryen) and Clinton Liberty (Addam of...

The cast and crew of House of the Dragon are deep into filming on season 3, which promises to have some majorly impressive sequences. First up is the Battle of the Gullet, a ship-to-ship battle that will also involve dragons, because of course it will. This battle was actually originally planned to serve as the climax of season 2, but it got bumped to the beginning of season 3 after Warner Bros. Discovery reduced the show's episode order. Now, cast and crew members are talking up this navel battle like it's going to be the most epic thing ever put to TV, and we hope it will.

Marvel Television's Eyes of Wakanda animated "anthology adjacent" series recently premiered its first episode during a panel at the Annecy Animation Festival, with director Todd Harris dropping a few hints about what's to come during a post-screening Q&a.
The show is set to follow several Wakandan warriors over the 10,000-year history of the fictional nation, but it seems we will also travel into the future in one of the four episodes.
Possible spoilers ahead.
Scooper Mttsh has revealed a list of the main and supporting characters we'll be introduced to in the series, and it seems Eyes of Wakanda will feature the MCU debut of a future Black Panther known as "The Intruder."
Could this be the same Black Panther that's rumored to appear in Avengers: Doomsday alongside Shuri (Letitia Wright)? It seems unlikely, as this character is said to hail from the "far, far future," and reportedly...

Some House of the Dragon fans have been hoping for a romantic twist between Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower. Since the show started, people online have shared theories and pointed out scenes they think hint at something more than friendship.
One of the biggest moments that sparked these ideas came in Season 2, when Alicent asked Rhaenyra to run away with her.
But it looks like the actors playing them don’t see it that way.
Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke, who play Rhaenyra and Alicent, were recently part of a video on Entertainment Weekly’s YouTube channel where they responded to fan theories. When Cooke read out the idea about Alicent and Rhaenyra possibly having romantic feelings for each other, both actors couldn’t help but laugh. The theory clearly caught them off guard.

Eyes of Wakanda animated series is set to debut on Disney+ at the beginning of August, and a major character from Marvel Comics is set to debut in the series. Little is known about Eyes of Wakanda at this time, other than it will follow Wakanda warriors throughout history, traveling the world in search of stolen vibranium artifacts. Steve Toussaint (House of the Dragon) will also have a voice role in the series. Earlier today, Collider’s Steve Weintraub attended the Eyes of Wakanda panel with Todd Harris at the Annecy Animation Festival, and he confirmed that one Defender from Netflix’s Marvel universe will have a role in the show. Here’s the kicker: it’s one we haven’t seen make their MCU debut yet:

The Black Panther franchise is expanding this year with the upcoming Disney+ series Eyes of Wakanda, which follows Wakandan warriors retrieving stolen artifacts across different time periods. The animated anthology series will directly connect to the film franchise, also spearheaded by executive producer Ryan Coogler. However, it will also introduce new bits of MCU history and characters, including what appears to be a new version of a Marvel superhero that previously made his debut in a Netflix series.

It's been nearly a year since the second season of House of the Dragon wrapped up on HBO, and we probably have at least a year to wait before the third season airs. That's a bummer, but Entertainment Weekly is keeping us entertained with a new video of the cast members responding to various fan theories. There's nothing terribly substantial in here, but it is pretty entertaining:
So what theories do they hit?
Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower will have a romantic relationship
In George R.R. Martin's book Fire & Blood, Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower are on opposite sides of the Dance of the Dragons, a bloody sectarian conflict that tears apart the ruling family of the Seven Kingdoms. On the show, they're working together, and some fans think they'll go further than that.

Matt Smith recently broke his silence about a major fan theory surrounding his character in House of the Dragon. The critically acclaimed Game of Thrones prequel series has been renewed for a third season.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Smith was joined by the rest of the main cast of House of the Dragon to debunk some of the wildest fan theories. One of these theories involves his character of Daemon, speculating that he will be linked to the Three-Eyed Raven after Season 2 saw him witnessing Aegon's Dream, a prophetic vision that kicked off Aegon's Conquest and the Targaryen's dynasty in Westeros. "Interesting. I'm not--i...I hope so," Smith said, choosing his words carefully. "Good one. I like that."

One of the biggest Game of Thrones theories was just addressed by the cast of House of the Dragon, and some of them think it makes sense. After the groundbreaking fantasy series came to an end in 2019, HBO quickly began developing Game of Thrones spinoffs, the first of which became the critically acclaimed House of the Dragon, depicting the civil war known as the Dance of Dragons that nearly destroyed House Targaryen generations before the flagship takes place. Characters who are maesters — scholars and doctors in Westerosi society — continue to appear in House of the Dragon as advisors to the royal family.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, when asked about the long-standing conspiracy theory that the maesters orchestrated the downfall of House Targaryen and magic over the centuries of their rule, the House of the Dragon cast was mostly on board. Cast members including Emma D'Arcy (Rhaenyra Targaryen), Olivia Cooke...

The contest for the Iron Throne will be going up another notch when House of the Dragon Season 3 finally premieres. Queen Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy), and her half-brother Aegon II Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Carney) will each continue to press their claim in a contest which has already cost each side dearly. House of the Dragon is based on the Targaryen historical accounts in George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood and work is already underway for the third season. Showrunner Ryan Condal leads the charge to develop the coming season, and while we are certain that the Battle of the Gullet looms in Season 3. Condal teases that the naval clash won't be the only major event audiences will get to see.
Speaking to Josh Horowitz on Happy Sad Confused, Condal teased that Season 3 will adapt four major events from Martin’s novel, Fire & Blood, as it works towards being even bigger than the second season.

Entertainment Weekly has the first look at Eyes of Wakanda, the animated Black Panther spinoff series coming to Disney+ this summer. The show comes from Todd Harris, who serves as showrunner and director, and he said Marvel let him go “hog wild” on the series.

The third season of House of the Dragon is being shot as we speak. But later this year, the second will get a chance to strut its stuff on stage at the 77th Emmy Awards, or at least that's what HBO hopes. According to Gold Derby, the network has submitted House of the Dragon for a total of 40 potential awards.
