Caution: This article contains Spoilers for Alert: Missing Persons Unit Season 3, episode 2

Fans of Alert are used to some unexpected twists and turns in cases, but nothing could have prepared them for “Badge #41870.” It opened with Nikki (Dania Ramirez) being kidnapped in her own car in a parking lot.

At the precinct, the team was met by Inspector Bill Houston (Malcolm-Jamal Warner), who wasn’t happy about the maverick actions of Jason (Scott Caan) and Nikki’s husband, Mike (Ryan Broussard). However, he was more concerned as he’d gotten word a convict named Raina had gotten early parole.

Years earlier, Nikki had busted Raina and her criminal brother, killing the man in self-defense. The case made Nikki’s career, so Raina had ample motive for revenge. Realizing Nikki was missing, the team...

Premiering on Fox in January 2023, Alert: Missing Persons Unit focuses on the Philadelphia police department’s Missing Persons Unit, which, as the name implies, hunts for missing folks in the city.

The two had been married only to break up following the abduction and apparent murder of their son, Keith. They were thus overjoyed when the now-teenage Keith appeared to turn up alive.

Season 1 took various twists and turns before the finale revealed that “Keith” was actually Max, a youth pushed by his criminal mother to pose as Keith to trick Nikki and Jason out of money. Having come to care for them, Max didn’t want to go through with...

‘Alert: Missing Persons Unit’ Trailer: First Look At Malcolm-Jamal Warner As Mpu’s Chief Inspector
Image
Fox has dropped the first trailer for Season 3 of Alert: Missing Persons Unit which gives us a peek at Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s Chief Inspector Bill Houston, who steps into an interim role with oversight of the Mpu.

Houston, a former Army Captain, believes in structure and rules and, in the past, had issues with Jason’s (Scott Caan) cowboy tactics. He will become the father figure Mpu didn’t know they needed.

School Spirits season 2 is coming sooner than expected
Image
One of the best teen drama series is set to make its comeback this month. We're talking about School Spirits, the show that captivated audiences with its mix of mystery, supernatural elements, and relatable high school drama. After an almost two-year wait, the long-awaited second season will finally hit Paramount+, and fans are eager to dive back into the gripping storyline and see what twists and turns await the characters.

Megan and Nate Trinrud, a talented sister and brother duo, created School Spirits. The first season premiered on Paramount+ back in March 2023. Paramount+ will follow the same release schedule for the upcoming School Spirits season 2.

The first three episodes of the second season are slated to be released on Paramount+ on Thursday,...

School Spirits Season 2 Premiere Date Revealed: Here’s Why We’re Already Concerned
Image
The ghosts in Split River High School are scary enough already, but Paramount+ just pulled a move that is far scarier.

The streaming platform announced this morning that School Spirits Season 2 will premiere on Thursday, January 30, with a three-episode drop.

While we’re excited to get some much-needed resolution to the many mysteries School Spirits Season 1 threw our way, the fact that it premieres in just over a week is concerning.

(Paramount+/Screenshot)

Promotion can make or break any project, so announcing a premiere date this close to the debut date doesn’t instill hope that many people will find it.

School Spirits Season 1 had a devoted audience, but it’s hard to tell whether they’ll get the message in time that new episodes are available to devour.

Genre shows are disappearing before our very eyes, and the last thing we need is for School Spirits to face a similar fate.

Cobra Kai star wrote the most controversial Virgin River season 6 episode
Image
Virgin River season 6, episode 5, "Love Story," is one of the most controversial episodes of the new season. What's now known as the "Brie and Brady episode" was actually written by Cobra Kai star Thomas Ian Griffith, who stars as Terry Silver in The Karate Kid movies as well as Netflix's Cobra Kai, and Mary Page Keller.

Who knew the man who plays the most ruthless villain in Cobra Kai also has the finesse and talent necessary to write one of the biggest episodes of Virgin River season 6? Not us!

For those who don't recall, "Love Story" is the midpoint of Virgin River season 6. The episode marks a major turning point in the relationship of lovers, Brady (Benjamin Hollingsworth) and Brie (Zibby Allen). After Brie leaves a suspicious message on Brady's voicemail during the Bachelorette/Bachelor parties, she learns that Lark (Elise Gatien) is actually in a relationship with Jimmy...

Image
[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Alert: Missing Persons Unit Season 2 Episode 2 “Benjamin Franklin.”] After the latest Alert: Missing Persons Unit episode, we have so many questions about Nikki’s (Dania Ramirez) history with Irish mob boss Charlie (Ian Tracey). The two cross paths due to the investigation, but it’s not the first time. Rather, after she busted him for drugs and flipped him to be her Ci (confidential informant), he treated her like a little sister when her marriage (to Scott Caan‘s Jason) fell apart and fed her tips while she was climbing the ranks. His intel led to a lot of arrests. Now, she realizes he killed his own dad and let someone else take the blame. Though Nikki doesn’t plan to do anything with it, she does use it as leverage to ensure the safety of a couple of people (the victim of the episode and his daughter). She declines Charlie’s offer ...

‘Alert: Missing Persons Unit’: How Does Nikki Know Irish Mob Boss? Watch Sneak Peek (Video)
Image
The past comes back to haunt Nikki (Dania Ramirez) on Alert: Missing Persons Unit in Season 2. As TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek of the March 12 episode reveals, it’s a messy (and mysterious) one. Ian Tracey guest stars as Charlie McGannon, an old friend of Nikki’s—and current Irish mob boss—who asks her for an impossible favor. “Owen Maloy’s my problem,” he says in our clip. “I’ll handle him. Got it?” Of course, that’s not going to work for Nikki. She even reminds him, “We’ve known each a lot of years. I don’t remember—ever—a moment where I worked for you.” Charlie suggests she think of it as a favor for an old friend. “I don’t recall us being friends, either,” Nikki says. “Don’t kid yourself, Nikki, I was there, remember? Treated you like a little sister when your marriage was falling apart.

All 8 Virgin River Romances, Ranked Worst To Best
Image
Mild spoilers are ahead for Virgin River season 5, part 2.

Some of Virgin River's pairings seem built to last, while others are threatened by dark secrets. Despite being pulled from the books, Brie and Mike's heartwarming romance might not last, especially given the mistletoe moment she shared with Brady. Overall, Virgin River's romances are full of sweet moments and see tons of compelling characters finding their other half.

Known for its sizzling relationships, Virgin River's current romances are full of both sweetness and drama — and some are, admittedly, better than others. Based on the Virgin River novels by Robyn Carr, the Netflix series follows Melinda "Mel" Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge), a Los Angeles-based nurse practitioner who moves to the titular Northern California town for a change of scenery. Hoping the remote Virgin River will help her leave painful memories behind, Mel takes up midwifery. However, small-town life isn't without its own drama,...

School Spirits Season 2 Everything We Know: Burning Questions, Plot, Release Date, and More
Peyton List, Milo Manheim, and Kristian Ventura in School Spirits (2023)
2023 was a strange year for TV, with many shows being kept off the air for extended periods of time.

School Spirits launched in March and became one of the year's best shows, setting quite the stage for School Spirits Season 2.

Below, we're looking at the burning questions that need to be answered and everything we know about the upcoming season.

School Spirits Season 2 Renewal Status

Paramount+ officially picked up School Spirits Season 2 on June 20, 2023, two months after the freshman finale.

With so many shows being canceled due to strikes and other reasons, it was nice to learn that we'd be able to unravel the aftermath of all the revelations at the show's core.

13 Biggest Supernatural Actors Who Also Appeared In Smallville
Image
Actors from Smallville and Supernatural have appeared in both shows, showcasing their versatility across different roles and storylines. The characters they portrayed ranged from love interests, villains, to complex heroes, adding depth and diversity to the overall narrative. Although a Smallville/Supernatural crossover never happened, there were guest appearances and connections between the two series, offering fans a taste of what could have been.

With Supernatural boasting 15 seasons and Smallville with 10 seasons on The CW during roughly the same time period, it's no surprise that some actors have ties to both shows. The former follows monster-hunting brothers, Sam and Dean Winchester, as they help their father, John, avenge their mother's death and go on to fight most supernatural and cosmic entities, including God. Smallville, on the other hand, is a detailed origin story about Superman and how his alias, Clark Kent, navigates the real world while trying to protect those...

Billy the Kid (2022)
Billy the Kid Season 2 Release Date Set at MGM+
Billy the Kid (2022)
Billy the Kid will be back on TV screens very soon.

MGM+ this week that Billy the Kid Season 2 will debut on Sunday, October 15, at 9 p.m. Et/Pt.

There is a little bit of a catch:

Four episodes of the season will air this year, with the final four being held until 2024.

A reason for the decision has not been revealed, but there's a good chance it has something to do with the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

If nothing changes (and if 2020 has taught us anything it probably will), movie theaters will be opening en masse in the U.S. within the next couple of weeks. Does that mean people are ready to flock back to theaters? It's hard to say. For now, we mostly have what can be enjoyed from home. Fortunately, this week has no shortage of new releases to enjoy.

Netflix has a new superhero flick coming down the pipeline and Disney+ is bringing a would-be theatrical release to streaming instead. We also have a couple of new horror flicks, a Joe Bob Briggs special and Judd Apatow's latest comedy finally hitting a major streaming service. Here are this week's streaming selections.

‘Endless’ Review: A Young Adult ‘Ghost’ Story
Image
Young death is tricky business. To do it justice, a movie would have to be awash in grief — and where’s the pleasure in that? The supernatural romance “Endless,” releasing on demand, tempers its mourning with lessons about mortality delivered by a couple of guys stuck on the other side. It’s a cheat, to be sure. But when the screenplay could have easily marooned the audience in a copycat purgatory.

When boyfriend Chris (Hamilton) dies, Riley (Shipp) blames herself for the wreck that killed him. Chris had been the laid-back champion of Riley’s artistic ambitions. He saw and nurtured her most authentic self. Riley’s parents, both lawyers, had plotted a Type-a trajectory for their only child. A graduating senior headed to her parent’s alma mater and then onto law school, Riley found in Chris’ embrace room to breathe, to draw graphic novellas, to just be. And now he’s gone.

Alexandra Shipp and Nicholas Hamilton in Endless (2020)
'Endless' Romance Trailer with Alexandra Shipp & Nicholas Hamilton
Alexandra Shipp and Nicholas Hamilton in Endless (2020)
"I hear your voice everywhere I go..." Quiver has released the official trailer for a romantic drama titled Endless, the latest from filmmaker Scott Speer, who seems to have a thing for young love films - making Midnight Sun and I Still See You before this. This is a story of connection despite tragedy: when madly in love high school graduates Riley and Chris are separated by a tragic car accident, Riley blames herself for her boyfriend's death while Chris is stranded in limbo. But miraculously they end up connecting. Both are forced to learn the hardest lesson of all: letting go. Starring Alexandra Shipp and Nicholas Hamilton, with DeRon Horton, Famke Janssen, Ian Tracey, and Eddie Ramos. This looks a bit like Ghost for a new generation, with a very handsome ghost guy reconnecting with his living love and helping her move on. Of course it's super emotional and sappy and cheesy,...

Aidan Gillen and Michael Malarkey in Project Blue Book (2019)
Project Blue Book Has a Plan for Season 3
Aidan Gillen and Michael Malarkey in Project Blue Book (2019)
Season two of History’s Project Blue Book is over, and unless the show is picked up elsewhere, this could be the end of our UFO hunting dynamic duo. We caught up with Project Blue Book creator/writer/executive producer David O’Leary and showrunner/executive Producer Sean Jablonski to talk about what’s next in an interview Den of Geek live-streamed on YouTube and Facebook simultaneously.

“History has sort of opted out of the scripted series business,” says Jablonski. “Which is in some ways good for us, because the studio that produces and ultimately pays for the show is committed to finding another home for it like on a streaming service, which we feel could present a larger audience for us.”

Jablonski pointed out that Den of Geek got it right in a recent article covering the cancelation in that the cancelation was not due to performance. He says he...

‘A Score to Settle’ Review: Nicolas Cage is on a Path of Retribution
It’s been nineteen years since Frank “Frankie Fingers” Carver (Nicolas Cage) has been a free man. He’s made the best of prison despite being there for a crime his mob boss Max (Dave Kenneth MacKinnon) committed. What other choice did he have? With his wife dead, his son (hopefully) a reformed junkie, and his money buried behind a home he no longer owns, there wasn’t much else to do but try and enjoy what little control he had over what was left. And since he was serving a life sentence for murder, it would of course mean one more tragic circumstance to earn this long sought after day in the sun. Rather than exoneration, Frank has been given clemency as a result of his own mortality. He’s dying.

Director Shawn Ku and co-writer John Stuart Newman tell us this very matter-of-factly with a visit to the...

Official Trailer for Action Film 'A Score to Settle' Starring Nicolas Cage
"What if you get killed first?" "At least I get to take a few of them down with me..." Ready for more Cage madness? Rlje Films has debuted an official trailer for an indie action drama titled A Score to Settle, the latest from filmmaker Shawn Ku (Beautiful Boy). Nicolas Cage stars in this in another crazy indie role to go with all of his other crazy indie flicks recently. Cage plays an ex-enforcer for a local crime syndicate who has vowed to enact retribution on his mob bosses after 22 years of wrongful imprisonment. The only thing diverting his violent plans is a new found relationship to his beloved son. The full cast includes Benjamin Bratt, Noah Le Gros, Mohamed Karim, Karolina Wydra, & Ian Tracey. I'm not even sure just how much action this will have, but it definitely does look like it has the perfect amount of rage for Cage to rock.
