At the kickoff of Willie Nelson’s “Outlaw Music Festival Tour” in Phoenix on Tuesday, May 13th, Bob Dylan made his co-headlining set a memorable one by closing with a cover of The Pogues’ “A Rainy Night in Soho.” It marked his first-ever live performance of the Shane MacGowan-penned classic.

Dylan began his 13-song set at Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre with 1967’s “I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight” before grabbing his guitar for “It Ain’t Me, Babe.” The folk legend then zoomed four decades forward in his discography for his first performance of “Forgetful Heart” in 10 years.

Tim Donnelly, the actor who is best known for playing fireman Chet Kelly on the 1970s TV series “Emergency!,” has died. He was 77.

The news was first shared by the Los Angeles County Fire Museum. Clearly, Donnelly held his television ties to the firefighter community quite dearly.

“We at the Fire Museum are heartbroken as we sure all of you will be as well regarding the following news. It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our friend, Tim Donnelly, this weekend,” a Facebook post read. “Tim, as you know, played Chet Kelly on the show ‘Emergency!’ among many other roles during his acting career. Tim is survived by his daughter, Ashley, two grandsons, his sister Kathleen and his brother Dennis.”

The television landscape is populated with hit medical dramas across the decades, from Dr. Kildare, M*A*S*H and Marcus Welby, M.D., to Grey's Anatomy, House and, of course, ER.  One series that ran alongside M*A*S*H centered on the emergency personnel of Los Angeles County Fire Department's Station 51 and nearby Rampart General Hospital.  It was the first of its kind to feature paramedics responding to emergency calls in addition to the in-hospital staff they handed their patients off to.  It's been more than 40 years since this show debuted and it's time to shine the spotlight on these real-life professionals once again.  Hit the jump for more.  Hollywood!  Adapt this: Emergency! What It's About:  Created and produced by Jack Webb and Robert A. Cinader, the brains behind police series Adam-12 and Dragnet, Emergency! was a one-hour medical drama that featured emergency personnel dealing with multiple incidents throughout their shift.

Gil Evans, perhaps the second-greatest arranger in jazz after Duke Ellington, was born Ian Ernest Gilmore Green on May 13, 1912 in Toronto, Canada (Evans was his stepfather's name). Though best known for his collaborations with Miles Davis, Evans released many great albums as a bandleader and created a highly influential style that changed the course of jazz history.

Though self-taught, by age 21 Evans was leading a big band that became the house group at the Rendezvous Ballroom in Balboa Beach. Eventually it was fronted and then led by singer Skinnay Ennis, and Claude Thornhill joined Evans in providing arrangements for them. Thornhill then moved to New York to start his own band, and in 1941 invited Evans to New York to write arrangements. Soon Evans's arrangements with their lush, hazy, floating textures defined the Thornhill style.

Celebrity Bowling—that unabashedly silly but undeniably entertaining weekly TV show that ran for eight years in the 1970s (from 1971 though ’78) is coming to DVD From S’More Entertainment.

The Celebrity Bowling 3-dvd Collector’s Set will be available on June 14.

Hosted by Jed Allan (CSI: Miami), Celebrity Bowling featured a pair of two-celebrity teams competing on regulation size bowling lanes that were actually installed inside the show’s studio at L.A.’s Kttv Channel 5.

The rules of the game were known as “best ball”—each team member would take a shot on their own lane. If neither bowled a strike, then whoever rolled the worse shot would try to put up a spare on their partner’s lane. Winning teams garnered prizes (usually appliances, but occasionally even cars!) for audience members both present and sitting at home.

During the heyday of The Ivy League Look, a number of guys from preppy backgrounds wound up working in the field of jazz. Bobby Troup was one of them. Raised in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Troup prepped at The Hill School, then studied economics at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. While an undergraduate, Troup became increasingly interested in the piano, admiring Count Basie's minimalist style, and penned his first hit song, "Daddy," which was recorded by Sammy Kaye & His Orchestra in 1941. In 1946, Troup drove from Pennsylvania to Los Angeles to seek his fame as an actor, musician and entertainer. Along the way he wrote his best-known song, "Route 66," which he sold to Nat King Cole, who had a major hit with it the same year. Troup later married torch singer Julie London, and hosted the television show "Stars...

When NBC's Trauma series was first announced, more than a few TV viewers were reminded of the 1970s Emergency! TV show. Trauma Executive Producer Dario Scardapane says that's not a coincidence.

Emergency! revolves around a Los Angeles team of devoted paramedics, doctors, nurses, and firemen who are quick to respond when there's an accident or disaster. The cast includes Robert Fuller, Julie London, Bobby Troup, Randolph Mantooth, Kevin Tighe, Tim Donnelly, Mike Stoker, Marco Lopez, Michael Norell, and Ron Pinkard.

The series ran for six seasons on NBC, from 1972 until 1977. It was cancelled after 122 installments but members of the cast returned in five made-for-tv movies between 1978 and 1979.
