According to The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming Disney+ series will feature another returnee in Jon Bernthal, who will be back to portray our favorite anti-hero, Frank Castle, aka The Punisher. Bernthal is now the third actor from the Netflix version of the series who will be reprising their roles, following Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, who are both back as the titular vigilante and villain Kingpin respectively.

Looks like The Penguin is going to have some serious competition when his series lands on HBO Max. According to a report by Variety, prolific actor Clancy Brown, known for his roles in a number of other franchises, including Highlander, Star Wars, and more, has joined the cast of the series in a recurring role. He joins star Colin Farrell, who will be reprising his role from Matt Reeves' The Batman, of which the series will serve as a continuation. The Punisher has thus become the Hand's High Slayer, taking command of its forces and throwing them into his crusade to kill criminals all over the world.

In a future where Frank Castle is in charge of the government, mutants are being hunted to extermination by a twisted team of Avengers. In this group is Captain America and a nightmarish version of Iron Man called the Steel Corpse. Spider-Woman Jessica Drew is also on the team, although she is now going by the name Redback. Besides the Invisible Woman, the last member of the team is the Hulk, a version of himself fueled by hate after an experiment gone wrong left parts of mutants grafted to his skin.

In a dystopian future where the Avengers began hunting mutants, a twisted experiment by Bruce Banner led to a monstrous version of Hulk fueled by hate instead of rage.

The 2011 storyline Age of X takes place in an alternate world where mutants lose their civil rights and are hunted to near extinction by the U.S. government. With Frank Castle in charge of the military, the Avengers are tasked with a mission to eliminate all mutants. They are led by a Captain America who has no problem with killing. Other members include Spider-Woman, who has become more like Black Widow, and a version of Iron Man known as Steel Corpse, who is being eaten by his suit due to a technovirus. The invisible Woman is also on the team, though she believes the mutants need to be controlled rather than eliminated.

While he's not exactly a pure-hearted hero in Marvel's main universe, the Punisher became a true villain in the reality where he didn't have his war on crime. Frank Castle desperately needs a mission to define his life and justify his desire to kill, and without a justification for targeting criminals in the Age of X reality, he turned into a force for pure evil.

In the Age of X timeline, the Avengers have basically become mutant hunters. There are twisted versions of Captain America, Spider-Woman, Hulk, the Invisible Woman, and even Ghost Rider. A possible Marvel Cinematic Universe road for two characters could come in the way of a crossover between The Punisher and Ghost Rider, as presented by haunting new fan art. The Punisher and Ghost Rider have a history in the MCU. The Punisher has been played by Jon Bernthal in the Netflix Defenders universe, debuting first during Daredevil season 2 and then going on to star in his homonymous show for two seasons. While publications like Nintendo Power made a few early Nes secrets relatively common knowledge, most Nes gamers had to rely on word of mouth to discover some of gaming’s earliest Easter eggs, major glitches, and other strange secrets. As such, even those who stumbled upon those secrets at that time really didn’t have a great way to tell the world about them. It wasn’t until decades later (if ever) that more gamers realized that some of the games they spent their childhoods playing contained hidden details that even dedicated players probably never would have found.
