Quigley Down Under: Details and specs for the 4K Uhd Blu-ray of the Tom Selleck and Alan Rickman western are released
Image
As we’ve highlighted in previous videos and articles, those who exclusively purchase films through online services are not truly guaranteed to have it available in their collection when the buyer is at the whim of the service provider. The seemingly iron-clad way to have a movie ready-to-watch is if you can have it at your fingertips. There are thankfully some distribution brands that are releasing movies that have been previously hard to find. Shout Factory is one of those brands, and the company has now released details on the restoration of Quigley Down Under on Blu-ray.com.

Directed by Simon Wincer (Lonesome Dove), Quigley Down Under stars Tom Selleck as sharpshooter Matt Quigley. “Arriving in Australia with nothing more than a saddle and his prized six-foot Sharps rifle, American sharpshooter Matthew Quigley thinks he’s been hired to kill off wild dogs,” reads the description. “But when he realizes...

The Punisher’s MCU Return Can Finally Confirm A Winter Soldier Theory
Image
Jon Bernthal's return as The Punisher in the McU's Daredevil: Born Again could answer whether a Captain America: The Winter Soldier theory involving Frank Castle was always true or not. The Multiverse Saga has been incorporating actors from previous Marvel franchises into the MCU. And just like Patrick Stewart's Professor X and Charlie Cox's Daredevil officially joined the MCU during Phase 4, Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle will make his MCU debut in Phase 5 several years after the release of his Netflix show, The Punisher.

Netflix's Defenders characters had vague connections to the MCU since the beginning, but it's only now that Marvel Studios is confirming their canon status. The McU's version of Netflix characters such as Daredevil, Wilson Fisk, and The Punisher may be slightly different, but within MCU canon, they have always existed in universe 616 without the need for multiversal explanations. This is what makes it...

Want More Daredevil Vs. Punisher Before Born Again? Read Chip Zdarsky's Daredevil
Image
"Daredevil: Born Again" is one of the most anticipated Marvel Studios projects. After guest appearances in "Spider-Man: No Way Home" and "She-Hulk," Charlie Cox is returning to Ol' Hornhead full-time — and it's not just him. Jon Bernthal will be returning as Frank Castle/The Punisher, reprising his role from both Netflix's "Daredevil" and its "Punisher" spin-off. It's unclear if Frank will be a friend or foe to Matt Murdock this time around.

Daredevil and Punisher is a long-standing rivalry; while Matt stands on the edge of a cliff, Frank has fallen far off it. Writers who've pitted the two against each other include Frank Miller, Garth Ennis (whose "Punisher" run was the basis for "Daredevil" season 2 episode "New York's Finest"), and most recently, Chip Zdarsky.

Zdarsky is the author of the ongoing run on "Daredevil," where his writing is complemented by Marco Checchetto's gorgeous art; his penciling uses...

Daredevil: Born Again is adding another familiar face to its cast. Jon Bernthal, who played Punisher (aka Frank Castle) on Marvel's Daredevil and in his own Marvel series on Netflix, is joining the Disney+ series.

A reboot of Netflix's Daredevil series, Born Again will see Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio reprising their roles as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, respectively. However, viewers will not see Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson reprising their roles for the new series. Disney+ has ordered 18 episodes for the reboot.

The True Origin of Punisher's War Journal is Going To Shock Marvel Fans
Image
Warning! Spoilers ahead for Punisher War Journal: Base! The Punisher's War Journal has been a popular element of Frank Castle's comics lore for decades, but the recently revealed first entry in the journal adds a surprising twist to the Punisher's origin. The first Punisher War Journal comic series was published in 1988, fourteen years after the Punisher fired his first shots in the pages of Marvel Comics. The War Journal series has generally served as a spin-off of Frank's central story; while it often contains its own story arcs or ties into mainline Punisher comics, it often takes on a more standalone nature. The journal entries details less the grander scope of Frank's never-ending war, but rather the individual battles throughout.

A natural assumption might be that Frank Castle chronicles his war effort simply because it's something soldiers do, or perhaps to detail his justifications for his often mass-murderous actions.

Is Jon Bernthal's Punisher The Villain In Daredevil: Born Again
Image
While it's been confirmed that Jon Bernthal will be reprising his role as The Punisher in Marvel Studios' upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series, it's unclear if Frank Castle will be a friend or foe to Charlie Cox's Matthew Murdock. Having debuted in Netflix's Daredevil season 2, The Punisher is presented as one of the deadliest vigilantes in the entire Marvel Universe, just as he is in the original comics. As such, his relationship with Daredevil is just as contentious and complicated in the Netflix show as it is on the page.

Although the news that Bernthal will be returning as The Punisher in Daredevil: Born Again is exciting, it's unclear if his prior relationship and history with Daredevil will be canon in the new MCU show. The same goes for Daredevil's Netflix history beyond his role in the McU's Spider-Man: No Way Home and appearance in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law,...

Jon Bernthal Confirms Punisher Return in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ at Disney+
Image
Watch out, MCU: The Punisher is back. Jon Bernthal is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the gun-toting vigilante for the upcoming Disney+ series “Daredevil: Born Again.”

After news first broke on March 7 of Bernthal’s return as the character, he posted an image of himself as The Punisher to his Instagram, while also sharing a clip on the official “Real Ones With Jon Bernthal” YouTube channel titled “Frank Castle is back.”

Frank Castle, a.k.a. the Punisher, was first introduced in Netflix’s mini universe of street-level Marvel characters. He debuted in Season 2 of “Daredevil” in 2016, then went on to star in his own, self-titled spinoff that ran for two seasons.

“Daredevil: Born Again” will mark the first appearance of Punisher since the spinoff was canceled by Netflix in 2019 after Season 2 debuted. Since then, all of Netflix’s more mature Marvel shows, including “Daredevil,” “Jessica Jones,” “Luke Cage,...

Punisher's Daredevil: Born Again Return Pays Off 7-Year-Old MCU Tease
Image
Punisher's return in Daredevil: Born Again pays off a seven-year-old Marvel Cinematic Universe team-up tease. Once Charlie Cox's Daredevil and Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin returned in Marvel Studios projects, hope began to rise that others from the Netflix shows could do the same. The confirmation that Daredevil: Born Again was happening on Disney+ only increased the desire to see other familiar faces. It has now been revealed that Jon Bernthal's Punisher is returning to play a role in Marvel's Daredevil reboot.

The chance to see Jon Bernthal's Punisher and Charlie Cox's Daredevil together again comes after they first shared the screen in Daredevil season 2. While the two Marvel heroes were originally pitted against each other, they ultimately found a way to work together. Considering the rapturous response to Punisher's debut and the continued success of Daredevil, it was expected that this would be the first of...

Jon Bernthal Responds To His MCU Return As The Punisher
Image
Marvel Cinematic Universe and The Punisher star Jon Bernthal responds to the report of him appearing in Daredevil: Born Again. The original Marvel TV era is getting its proper due in the MCU after years of being sidelined. First, Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio returned in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Hawkeye, respectively. The Daredevil stars are set to appear in Echo before headlining their own series, Daredevil: Born Again. While it won't act as a season 4 for the cancelled Netflix drama, it will be a semi-continuation at best. Set to arrive in 2024, the Disney+ series recently began production.

But Cox and D'Onofrio won't be the only Marvel-Netflix characters to appear in Daredevil Born Again. Bernthal's Punisher will return to the MCU in Daredevil: Born Again. This comes years after The Punisher was cancelled at Netflix after only two seasons.

What Happened To Jon Bernthal's Punisher In His Marvel Netflix Show
Image
As seen in Netflix's The Punisher, Frank Castle has had quite a bloody history as one of the most dangerous vigilantes in the MCU. First appearing in Daredevil season 2 before getting his own show, it's recently been confirmed that Frank Castle will soon return to the MCU in Marvel Studios' upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series coming to Disney+, reuniting with Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock. As such, the new appearance can finally pay off where the Netflix show left the Punisher at the end of his second season.

Although the news that Jon Bernthal will be reprising his role as The Punisher in Daredevil: Born Again is very exciting, it's not yet known how Marvel Studios will be handling the preexisting history of Murdock, Castle, and any other character who first debuted on Netflix such as Vincent D'onofrio's Kingpin. However, the confirmation that at least three Netflix characters...

Jon Bernthal to Return as The Punisher for Daredevil: Born Again, But Two Fan-Favorites Will Not Be Back
Jon Bernthal.
Jon Bernthal will be suiting up as The Punisher again for Daredevil: Born Again.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed Tuesday that he would be joining Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio for the Disney+ revival.

The 18-episode (!) series is set to enter production in New York later this month.

Bernthal initially played Frank Castle in 12 episodes of Daredevil before going on to headline The Punisher for two seasons.

The series was canceled in 2019, around the time Netflix grounded its entire slate of Marvel series.

At that point, there were concerns that all of the superheroes that formed part of Netflix's slate wouldn't return.

But all the shows left Netflix last year and moved to Disney+ around the globe, paving the way for some heroes to return.

Daredevil: Born Again got an expanded episode order, a surefire confirmation that fans will get updates on some of their most beloved characters.

Jon Bernthal to Return as The Punisher for ‘Daredevil: Born Again’
Image
Jon Bernthal is to reprise his role as Frank Castle/The Punisher in Disney+‘s upcoming Daredevil: Born Again. He will join fellow Netflix Marvel alums Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio when production begins in New York later this month, according to THR. It serves as a spiritual successor to the Netflix Daredevil series, where The Punisher spin-off series also spun off starring Berenthal. Born Again takes its name from a landmark Daredevil story by Frank Miller and David Mazzuchelli in 1986, but the show will not follow the source material closely. For example, The Punisher did not appear in the original source material, and some of the storylines played out in the final season of the Netflix series. What’s in store for the series and any plot details remain unknown. Berenthal first appeared as The Punisher in the second season of Netlix’s Daredevil. He is one of the...

Jon Bernthal to return as the Punisher in Disney+’s Marvel series ‘Daredevil: Born Again’
Image
Jon Bernthal is getting his skull vest out of the closet. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bernthal has signed on to reprise the role of vigilante Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, in the upcoming Disney+ Marvel series “Daredevil: Born Again.”

Bernthal previously played the iconic anti-hero in the Netflix series “Daredevil,” as well as in his own eponymous series, which ran for two seasons on the streaming service from 2017 to 2019.

Bernthal is joining original “Daredevil” cast members Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio in the revival, which starts shooting in New York next month. The season will reportedly consist of 18 episodes, a much longer run than high-end streaming productions usually do.

“Born Again” is the first Disney+ series to come out of the former Netflix Marvel characters’ integration into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel Studios partnered with Netflix on a suite of shows between 2015 and 2019, starting with “Daredevil,” until the studios...

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ – Jon Bernthal Returns as The Punisher in New Disney+ Series!
Charlie Cox in Daredevil (2015)
A few years after Netflix cancelled “Daredevil” spinoff series “The Punisher,” THR reports today that Jon Bernthal will soon be reprising the role of Frank Castle/The Punisher!

Jon Bernthal is back as The Punisher in Marvel’s upcoming reboot series “Daredevil: Born Again,” which will also mark the return of Charlie Cox as Daredevil.

Vincent D’Onofrio will also be back as Wilson Fisk, we recently learned.

“Daredevil: Born Again” is said to be an 18-episode series for Disney+. From Matt Corman and Chris Ord, the Marvel series is expected to premiere sometime in 2024.

THR details, “Born Again takes its title from a landmark Daredevil storyline published in 1986, written by Frank Miller and drawn by David Mazzuchelli. The show is deviating from that plot, although by how much is unclear. The Punisher, for example, made no appearance in the comic story. Daredevil versus Wilson Fisk, aka the Kingpin, remains the focal point.

Daredevil: Born Again Will See The Return Of Jon Bernthal's Punisher
Image
Marvel Studios is rounding out its cast for their upcoming and incredibly buzzy streaming series, "Daredevil: Born Again," and fans will no doubt rejoice over one big returning name. With Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin already confirmed to be on board the revival series, none other than John Bernthal will once again be suiting up as the famous, skull-wearing antihero Frank Castle/Punisher. The trio of actors are reprising their roles from the well-received Netflix shows and spin-offs about their respective Marvel characters, though it remains slightly murky whether the continuity of those various series are considered as part of the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe canon or not.

In any case, the expected but as-of-yet unconfirmed casting was revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, ahead of the show beginning filming in New York City later this month. The casting brings together the three...

Black Panther & Daredevil Are Villains, And It's All The Avengers' Fault
Image
Warning: Spoilers for Daredevil #8

Both Daredevil and Black Panther are villains now, and the Avengers are hunting them down. T'Challa and Matt Murdock have long comic histories and are two of the most morally upstanding heroes on the planet, even through their struggles, so why are their former team members on the Avengers treating them as enemies? Daredevil #8 provides a partial answer, but the real reason comes down to simple miscommunication, misunderstanding, and an inability to trust others on one's own team.

Black Panther and Daredevil have faced tremendous struggles in recent months. Devil's Reign, a Daredevil-centric event, began with the Kingpin outlawing superhero activity in New York, and ended tragically with the death of Matt Murdock's brother. For his part, Black Panther inadvertently triggered a Wakandan civil war and has just lost his title of King, his seat on the Avengers and even his Wakandan citizenship; both men...

Frank Castle Proves He’s a Better Hero Without the Punisher
Image
One of Marvel Comics’ most iconic crime-fighting vigilantes is unarguably the Punisher, due mostly to his methods of unforgiving brutality–though if Frank Castle were to tone down his brutal nature and even rid himself of the ‘Punisher’ persona entirely, he’d actually be a better hero, and the X-Men prove it.

Frank Castle’s journey to becoming the Punisher is one that he had been on his entire life, though it wouldn’t culminate into true metamorphosis until the day his family was killed right before his very eyes. Castle was always prone to violence as he grew up in poverty and witnessed atrocious crimes everyday that were consistently going unpunished. Frank killed his first victim when he was just a child, burned him alive and watched as the flesh melted off his bones. From that point on, it became impossible for Frank to lead a normal life as...

Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania Doesn't Stand Alone Well, But Should Marvel Worry About That?
Image
This post contains slight spoilers for "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania."

After 15 years, the lore of the Marvel Cinematic Universe runs very deep. The franchise from the House of Ideas now encompasses films, TV shows, shorts, specials, and literature (including Scott Lang's memoir "Look Out For The Little Guy"). So it's understandable if a new True Believer feels daunted by the sheer amount of media they would need to consume if they want to completely catch up with the entire story. After all, it's not like anyone really wants to do homework in order to watch the latest blockbuster in a theater. But if you're looking to see "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania," surely you understand that it's a necessary evil, right?

It's not entirely required to have seen every story that makes up the MCU to follow along with Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly's titular heroes, but...

Daredevil Confirms The One Marvel Hero He's Willing To Kill
Image
Warning: Spoilers for Daredevil (2022) #8!When facing one of the world's deadliest vigilantes in an all-out war, Daredevil outright admits that the only way he's going to come out on top is to break his "no killing" rule. Matt Murdock is one of Marvel’s most effective street-level superheroes due to his 360-degree radar sense, extensive martial arts training, and willingness to fight even when he’s sorely underpowered. Having been raised by a morally upstanding father and as a devout Catholic under his morally righteous father, he’s used his skills to bring his enemies to the authorities alive, rather than kill them. He’s held true to this code for years but has often struggled with the temptation, and now he may be forced to break it.

In Daredevil (2022) #8 by Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto, "The Red Fist Saga" continues with a massive battle between Daredevil’s army of...

Punisher Is Finally The Marvel Villain He Always Should Have Been
Image
Marvel's Punisher is finally becoming a villain, and it's about time. The antihero often toes the line between good and evil, especially when it comes to his most memorable trait: unlike virtually every other Marvel superhero, the Punisher kills his enemies. Now, in Daredevil #8, one of the most forgiving superheroes finally realizes Frank Castle has reached the point of no return, and there may be no salvation for him.

An antihero who first appeared in the Spider-Man books in the 70s, Frank Castle was a perfect character for the era. In a world that far less black and white than the 50s and 60s, Castle was a United States Marine on a one-man mission to eradicate crime, one bullet at a time. The Punisher is infamous for killing his foes, and as a result hardly any other Marvel superhero will work with him. Castle's motivations for killing have always stemmed...

A Shock MCU Hero Demolished the Real-World Meaning of Punisher's Logo
Image
The Punisher’s infamous skull logo has been a subject of much controversy over the last few years, but Hawkeye Kate Bishop called out the hypocrisy of those who would use it in the name of “justice” more than a decade ago in the pages of Marvel Comics.

After the Punisher’s skull logo was appropriated by several far-right extremists, Marvel made the controversial decision to replace it in the latest revamp of the character. The new storyline sees Frank Castle becoming the leader of the villainous Hand ninja clan, trading his guns in for a pair of katana and replacing the Punisher's classic skull logo with a new insignia that gives the skull an oni-like appearance with fangs and horns. Marvel feeling the need to rethink the whole ethos behind one of its characters shows just how serious the situation is in the real world, to the extent that...

The Punisher is Marvel's New God Of War (And It's A Huge Mistake)
Image
Warning: SPOILERs for Punisher #9.Marvel Comics has just made the Punisher its new God of War, and it's a huge mistake. Frank Castle's battle against Ares has concluded, and by killing the former Avenger, the Punisher has taken his mantle as Marvel's God of War, which however will end up hurting both characters.

The current Punisher ongoing series has brought major changes to Frank Castle's life, who let himself be recruited by the cult of assassins known as the Hand, in exchange for the resurrection of his wife Maria. It turns out that the High Priestess of the Hand has had her eyes on Frank since he was a boy, seeing in him the chosen representative of the Beast, the Hand's demonic patron. The Punisher has thus become the Hand's High Slayer, taking command of its forces and throwing them into his crusade to kill criminals all over the world.

Daredevil's New Powers Officially Make Him Stronger Than Marvel's Gods
Image
Warning: Spoilers for Daredevil #8.Daredevil's most recent battle against the Punisher ends with Matt Murdock's victory, proving that he's officially stronger than Marvel's new God of War, who recently killed Ares and inherited his title.

Despite being unlikely allies in the past, Daredevil and the Punisher have recently found themselves engaged in a holy war. Frank Castle has been recruited by the cult of assassins known as the Hand (in exchange for the resurrection of his wife Maria) and has finally accepted his destiny as the Fist of the Beast, the chosen representative of the Hand's demonic patron. Meanwhile, Daredevil and Elektra have decided to end the Hand once and for all, rebuilding the Fist, a group formed centuries ago to oppose the fanatical assassins. Matt and Elektra have married and become the new King and Queen of the Fist in a gruesome ritual, and it's now time for...

Will Daredevil & Punisher Join Forces To Make War With The Avengers?
Image
Warning: Spoilers for Punisher #9Right now, Daredevil and Punisher are about to face each other in the pages of Marvel Comics, but there is a chance they both might have to take on the Avengers.

As head of the Fist, Daredevil is on a crusade to stop the Hand, which also means he's on a mission to stop the Punisher. Frank Castle has recently been recruited by that ninja assassin cult to become their new leader. Daredevil has always kept a wary eye on the Punisher and his extreme form of justice, but now that he is in charge of an organization that is notoriously evil, Daredevil is especially nervous. He has even married Elektra in a strange ritual and broken many super villains out of prison in order to begin an assault on the Punisher's stronghold.

Even Hulk Couldn't Survive Spider-Woman's Deadliest Form
Image
Fans think of the Hulk as practically indestructible, but in one dystopian future the silent but deadly Spider-Woman got the better of him, in spectacular fashion.

In a future where Frank Castle is in charge of the government, mutants are being hunted to extermination by a twisted team of Avengers. In this group is Captain America and a nightmarish version of Iron Man called the Steel Corpse. Spider-Woman Jessica Drew is also on the team, although she is now going by the name Redback. Besides the Invisible Woman, the last member of the team is the Hulk, a version of himself fueled by hate after an experiment gone wrong left parts of mutants grafted to his skin.

Hulk's Darkest Form Draws On Hate, Not Rage
Image
In a dystopian future where the Avengers began hunting mutants, a twisted experiment by Bruce Banner led to a monstrous version of Hulk fueled by hate instead of rage.

The 2011 storyline Age of X takes place in an alternate world where mutants lose their civil rights and are hunted to near extinction by the U.S. government. With Frank Castle in charge of the military, the Avengers are tasked with a mission to eliminate all mutants. They are led by a Captain America who has no problem with killing. Other members include Spider-Woman, who has become more like Black Widow, and a version of Iron Man known as Steel Corpse, who is being eaten by his suit due to a technovirus. The invisible Woman is also on the team, though she believes the mutants need to be controlled rather than eliminated.

Without His Mission, Punisher Became Marvel's Ultimate Villain
Image
While he's not exactly a pure-hearted hero in Marvel's main universe, the Punisher became a true villain in the reality where he didn't have his war on crime. Frank Castle desperately needs a mission to define his life and justify his desire to kill, and without a justification for targeting criminals in the Age of X reality, he turned into a force for pure evil.

In the Age of X timeline, the Avengers have basically become mutant hunters. There are twisted versions of Captain America, Spider-Woman, Hulk, the Invisible Woman, and even Ghost Rider. In this timeline, mutants lost the battle for human rights, leading to severe persecution by humans. Many of the Avengers' origins now involve some kind of conflict with mutants, such as Hulk's transformation being the result of mutant experimentation and the Fantastic Four having disbanded because they were caught harboring mutant children. In this world, the...

Punisher 2099's Origin Is Even More Tragic Than Frank Castle's

Warning: Spoilers for Savage Avengers #9!Due to a shift in Marvel's official timeline, Punisher 2099 has a new origin involving Ultron, and it makes Frank Castle's heart-rending origin look like the easy option. The Best TV Moments Ruined by the Internet
Image
The good ol’ internet. It’s been our friend and our enemy since the military’s Arpanet network switched on in the late ‘60s. Online communication has led to an enormous amount of acquired knowledge, and it’s given many people their livelihood (this writer raises his hand). Internet memes, however, have also taken some of the best moments in TV history, shown them to the masses out of context, and in turn ruined the original intent of the message from said TV shows.

We’re here to look back on some of the biggest dichotomies between the incredible performances onscreen and the jokes and laughs they weren’t supposed to produce, but did, on social media and beyond.

15 Nes Game Secrets You Never Knew Existed
Image
As games (and the gaming industry) grow larger and more complicated, it’s easy to look back with nostalgia on the simple pleasures of the best Nes games. However, even those seemingly simple Nes games often held secrets that went undiscovered for years.

While publications like Nintendo Power made a few early Nes secrets relatively common knowledge, most Nes gamers had to rely on word of mouth to discover some of gaming’s earliest Easter eggs, major glitches, and other strange secrets. As such, even those who stumbled upon those secrets at that time really didn’t have a great way to tell the world about them. It wasn’t until decades later (if ever) that more gamers realized that some of the games they spent their childhoods playing contained hidden details that even dedicated players probably never would have found.

Luke Cage was introduced as part of Netflix's line-up of Marvel series, debuting in Jessica Jones before starring in his own series and The Defenders team-up series. While there have been debates about the canonicity of these series Marvel gave fans hope about the beloved characters and actors potentially returning with Charlie Cox reprising his role as Matt Murdock aka Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk and Vincent D'Onofrio's returning as Kingpin in Hawkeye. The actors will also return in the new Disney Plus series Daredevil: Born Again, which, depending on its success, could prompt Marvel to bring more of these fan favorites into the MCU.
