The Night Agent season 2 episode 9 recap: Peter makes a big trade

Rose admits she’s feeling hesitant about leaving Peter and going back to normal life, and Peter apologizes for not turning down the job. Rose doesn’t want him to change, but it’s clear from the look in her eyes that she doesn’t want this to end.

Back in the lab after Tomas's death in episode 8, Rose and Dr. Cole (Jay Karnes) theorize about making an inactive batch of Kx after they finish the first batch. Markus’s men force them to keep working even though they have enough Kx...

The Night Agent season 2 episode 7 recap: Peter goes rogue
Image
The Night Agent season 2 episode 7, “Tilt,” opens with another flashback. Man, the writers love an episode-opening flashback in this season, don’t they?

This time, it’s when Solomon Vega (Berto Colon) meets Jacob Monroe (Louis Herthum). Jacob is pulled over on the side of the road waiting for a toy truck when resident nice guy, Solomon, arrives to help wait it out. Solomon reveals that his sister lost her legs in a hit-and-run accident and the police never found him.

After going their separate ways, Solomon finds an envelope on his car with the identity of the person who hit and injured his sister. It’s obviously from Jacob, and there’s a job offer, too, and that’s how their partnership begins.

‘The Night Agent’ Season 2 Finale: No Good Deed Goes Unpunished
Image
Editor’s Note: The following post contains spoilers for “The Night Agent” Season 2.

“The Night Agent” Season 2 ends with Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) in a precarious position — but it’s not the first time he (or his family) has been there.

Shawn Ryan’s Netflix series released another 10 episodes on January 23, with Season 3 already confirmed. That announcement was enough to guarantee an open ending, but Season 2 still wraps up its central arcs pretty neatly. But how exactly did it weave together a formidable dictator, intelligence broker, Iranian intelligence, and a Presidential candidate? We break it all down below.

The Attack

The nerve-racking finale opens with Peter and everyone else converging on the U.N., which is being evacuated to assess a threat in the Hvac system. Very few people know that the threat is K.X., the chemical agent that Rose (Luciane Buchanon) helped Dr. Cole (Jay Karnes) to produce...

‘Night Agent’ Boss Shawn Ryan Reveals How That Tense Finale Sets the Stage for Season 3
Image
[This story contains major spoilers from the second season of The Night Agent.]

Heading into the second season of The Night Agent — Netflix’s spy action thriller series about a low-level FBI agent who goes from manning an emergency hotline for secret agents investigating issues of classified intelligence to being one of those international agents — creator and showrunner Shawn Ryan knew he wanted to push his beloved protagonist Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) further into morally grey territory.

“In season one, things were logistically very difficult for Peter, but morally pretty easy. In season two, I want things to remain logistically difficult for Peter, but I want them morally to get more difficult,” Ryan tells The Hollywood Reporter in the interview below. “He probably had a little bit of a naïve view of what [being a Night Agent] would mean, probably felt that he could keep his morals and his moral compass intact doing it, and he learns in the course of season two that that’s not so easy.

The Walking Dead Season 11 Episode 9 Review: No Other Way
Image
This The Walking Dead review contains spoilers.

The Walking Dead Season 11 Episode 9

For all the good that can be achieved with scale in an action setting, there’s nothing like a down-and-dirty scrap for survival. The Walking Dead does big battle scenes well, especially given the limitations of a television budget and shooting schedule, but when the show narrows focus and attempts a more restrained combat setting, be it a one-on-one knife fight or one survivor versus a crowded stairwell of walkers, the technical prowess of the creative team and the show’s stunt team and second unit team really come through.

Throughout “No Other Way,” the action is taken to street level, whether it’s Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and a surviving Reaper fighting over a rare shelter from the fiery arrow storm of the hwacha or Rosita (Christian Serratos) and the Alexandrians forming a makeshift corpse barricade on the...
