Muriel, was born Muriel Tremblett on the 11th January 1873 in Newton Heath, Manchester, England. She was a successful actress during the latter part of the 1890's and the early 1900's, having prominent roles in dramatic and Shakespearian plays, touring with the Theatrical Company's of Lewis Walter and Matthew Russell-Rosse.

On the 27th April 1908 Muriel married Thomas Holding, a stage actor, at St Matthews Church, Hammersmith, London. Their careers took them between England an America. Both performed in the stage production of Ben Hur, touring America, under the direction of Klaw and Erlanger. From 1914 they took up permanent residence in Los Angeles, America. Muriel made two silent movies in 1921 for Universal Studios, being, All Dolled Up and Desperate Youth. In 1928 Muriel and Thomas separated, and in 1929 Thomas died at the Longacre Theatre, New York, where he was due to perform.

It is reported that Muriel stayed in America for a while, running an old curiousity shop. She then returned to England, living in seclusion, until her death on the 14th May 1944, in East Middlesex. There were two daughters and a son, previous to her marriage to Thomas Holding.
