Osgood Perkins has been hard at work. Last year he brought us what could arguably be Nicolas Cage’s freakiest performance yet in Longlegs, and earlier this year he delivered the harpoon-shooting, side-splitting (literally) horror-comedy The Monkey. Now, the director looks to be pivoting back to darker horror territory, as the trailer for his latest flick, Keeper, has just hit the web — and you can watch it below:
That’s one cryptic teaser, seemingly more in line with the weird and flat-out incredible marketing campaign for Perkins' first Neon horror joint, Longlegs. The teaser gives us a mix of ominous figures reacting directly to the camera — one of the more prominent being Christin Park, who appears in multiple shots, reacting to the camera as if it’s a person. Anyone else getting flashbacks to Elijah Wood’s Pov horror Maniac?
Plot details for this one are sparse. So far, all...

Everyone is familiar with the fairytale scenario of falling in love with someone from across a crowded room. It’s in the eyes, they say. You feel that spark. It pulls you into each other’s orbit, with the rest of the story waiting to be written by fate. However, butterflies can only survive inside a stomach for so long; after some time, they’ll die, along with that initial feeling of wonder. In Osgood Perkins‘ Keeper teaser trailer, love blossoms and withers as time tarnishes what began as something beautiful.
Keeper falls under Osgood Perkins and Chris Ferguson’s new production studio, Phobos. Previously, Neon hosted a looping teaser video for Keeper on the studio’s YouTube channel. The video featured a young, unblinking individual repeatedly drawing on a notepad, the sound of their pen against paper playing like Asmr for sickos. Once in a while, the scene changes...

Yet despite his instincts to further isolate, Ish leads the charge to develop a new civilization. Alexander Ludwig stars as Ish, along with Jessica Frances Dukes, Aaron Tveit,...

"I came up with a genuinely original idea. And I'm the only one who's immune to it." Oh this is a good one. O.I. is a new horror short film made by South African filmmaker N'cee Van Heerden (also of Hunter's Cabin). A simple concept perfectly executed. The story is about Barry – played by Ben Cotton – after he wakes up one morning with an incredible new idea. The downside? He's the only person that can handle it. In fact, telling the idea to anyone has devastating effects. Barry may have to face this burden alone – or so he thinks. Also starring Kett Turton, Toby Hargrave, Jennnifer Nicole Stang, and Paul McGillion. The whole thing is a play on how there are no longer any original ideas, and how the moment anyone comes up with a truly unique original idea it blows minds - literally. Pretty accurate, I have to say.

I’ve got a solid little short sci-fi film here for you to watch called Corporate Monsters. The film comes from director Ruairi Robinson, which as you’ll see is heavily inspired by John Carpenter’s 1988 film They Live.
The story for the short follows a man named Rob (Kett Turton) who starts to severely suffer from depression after losing his job. He starts to become unstable and to help, his doctor gives him some pills to treat his condition. The pills are “not quite Fda approved yet,” and after taking them, “he begins seeing things: he sees people as horrendous monsters, creatures that control the world from the shadows and stay hidden by people’s own blindness and apathy.”
As you’ll see in the short, things escalate into craziness as Rob tries to get his girlfriend (Jenna Coleman) to take one of the pills so that she can see the monsters as well.

"They're everywhere! Don't you see." Dive back into the mind of sci-fi filmmaker Ruairi Robinson, who just released his latest short film online. Corporate Monster is the latest film by Irish filmmaker Ruairi Robinson, who we are big fans of here at Fs. Over the years we've featured his other sci-fi shorts including Blinky and The Leviathan. Inspired by the current state of the world, which Robinson rather aptly describes as "f*cked", Corporate Monster tells the story of a man who loses his job and "starts to believe that parasitic creatures are controlling the world." It's basically They Live remade by Neill Blomkamp, filtered through Robinson's mind. The short film stars Kett Turton and Jenna Coleman. This gets a bit too real half-way through, but that's the point. To reflect society, and make us think. Maybe there really are aliens out there? Thanks to Short of the Week for the tip on this.

"Life happens. And it sweeps you up, and then you die. That's it. Stupid really..." Need a good laugh? Watch this short. Curmudgeons is a comedic short film directed by Danny DeVito, starring Danny DeVito and his longtime friend David Margulies as two old "curmudgeons" who meet up again at an assisted living home. The cast includes Danny DeVito's daughter Lucy DeVito, as well as Sarah Nina Hayon and Kett Turton. It's a wonderful mix of hilariously crude humor and life lessons being imparted to youngsters, with a sweet side to it that comes out in just the right way. I'm really impressed by this - it's the kind of film you should watch if you're feeling sad and need a reminder of what happiness is. Take a few minutes and watch. Sneak Peek images and footage from writer/director Terry Miles' new 'dramady' feature "Cinemanovels", starring Lauren Lee Smith and Jennifer Beals:
"...'Grace' (Smith) had not spoken to her recently deceased father, the fabled Québécois filmmaker 'John Laurentian', in years. So even she's surprised when, on a trip to pick up some of his belongings, she offers to help put together a retrospective of his work.
"Not only has she not seen any of it (their rift was spectacularly traumatic), she knows nothing about curating. She's also a shut-in who rarely ventures outside the condo she shares with her husband, 'Ben' (Ben Cotton). Grace struggles along fitfully, dozing off while watching her father's movies (all of them involving love triangles), and discussing her inertia with her confidante, 'Clem' (Beals).
"Then she meets 'Adam' (Kett Turton), a neighbour who's an expert on all things Laurentian and offers to help her out.

Here's the full synopsis: Grace (Lauren Lee Smith) had not spoken to her recently deceased father, the fabled Québécois filmmaker John Laurentian, in years. In this plane episode out fly the 'jokes' about the odds of crashing at 20,00 feet. The flight attendant notices the passenger's black eyes, who asks how long they've been in the air, reply being 40 minutes - so he opens the door enabling the plane to crash. We discover Dean (Jensen Ackles) sleeps with a knife under his pillow, just in case he's attacked or ambushed in the night by ghosties and ghoulies. Which reminds me of a comment I made in a season 5 episode - but that'd be jumping the gun on my part. Sam (Jared Padalecki) meanwhile can't sleep. So he's watching an Info-mercial: thought only Dean was into TV, well in the early episodes he was more than Sam... Unknown to Dean, Sam is having nightmares about Jessica (Adrianne Palicki) . He finds the 'job' gets to him. Not so for trusty Dean - who is not afraid of...

Gypsy 83
NEW YORK -- A teenage road movie dressed in Goth clothing, Todd Stephens' follow-up to his acclaimed gay-themed drama "Edge of Seventeen" is mainly notable as a showcase for the talents of its star, Sara Rue, whose current ABC sitcom, "Less Than Perfect", no doubt facilitated this long-delayed release. Playing a 25-year-old, overweight, Goth-styled, Stevie Nicks fanatic named Gypsy, Rue demonstrates a vivid warmth and appeal that promises a bright career. "Gypsy 83" is playing an exclusive theatrical engagement in Manhattan and opens May 14 in Los Angeles.
Stephens' episodic screenplay concerns best friends Gypsy, an aspiring singer-songwriter working at a drive-through photo shop, and Clive (Kett Turton), a similarly styled, gay 18-year-old who shares her musical obsessions. Eager to shake off their small-town existence in Ohio, they decide to take a trip to New York in order to participate in the "Night of 1,000 Stevies" competition at a nightclub (a concept so strange, it must be true).
Along the way, as might be imagined, the duo has a series of adventures and run-ins with various colorful characters. These include "Miss Bambi LeBleau" (Karen Black, delivering an entertaining turn), a colorful lounge singer whose career has definitely seen better days; Zechariah (Anson Scoville), a handsome Amish runaway whose desire to taste the forbidden fruits of life leads him to a flirtation with Clive and a sexual encounter with Gypsy; and Troy (Paulo Costanzo), one of a group of menacing frat boys who deflowers Clive and then betrays him.
These episodes vary significantly in their dramatic impact, not to mention their credibility, with the result that the film's main appeal stems from the two main characters, whose close relationship is well-conveyed and moving. While Clive seems an all-too-familiar archetype, the emotionally volatile but highly vulnerable Gypsy, still wounded from the abandonment years earlier by her mother, is a memorably vivid creation, and Rue plays her with just the right combination of sweetness, sexuality and sass.
