His father Kurt Unger was a Producer having received his grounding as an executive at United Artists overseeing distribution and production in Italy & UK. His Grandfather Siegfried Unger directed films for UFA at Babelsberg Studios in Potsdam Berlin until 1932. His Great-grandfather was an exhibitor and owned the early theatre/cinemas in Nord Rhein-Westfalia.
Daniel's first paying job was on 'Judith' where he served as assistant Director on the Second Unit under the team of Nicholas Roeg & Alec Thompson. Apart from his numerous film Production and Sales credits over the past decades Danny has initiated a number of entrepreneurial corporate successes in the Printing field building a chain of 200 stores. Alongside these he served as Founder and Chairman of entities in the publishing and direct marketing field which became quoted Public companies.
He is assembling an 8 part TV series telling the story of Wilfrid Israel, one of the primary architects of the Kindertransport. The tentative title of this project is 'A Kinder Rescue'.
