Velázquez debuted in 1955 playing a waitress in the movie "Caras nuevas". She was only 19 years old in the film Caras Nuevas and she immediately captured the public's attention due to her radiant beauty; many even consider that her first appearance on the big screen was enough for her to become a sex symbol.

At the time of her death she was one of the last surviving stars from the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema.
