The Bloody Disgusting-powered Screambox is home to a variety of unique horror content, from originals and exclusives to cult classics and documentaries. With such a rapidly-growing library, there are many hidden gems waiting to be discovered.
Here are five recommendations you can stream on Screambox right now.
Nightbreed: The Director’s Cut
The sophomore directorial effort from master of horror Clive Barker, Nightbreed is by no means an obscurity among genre fans, but some may not be familiar with the director’s cut, which runs 20 minutes longer than the original version and has been reworked to better reflect Barker’s original vision. While it was virtually impossible to live up to the subversive heights of Hellraiser, Nightbreed is an admirable, if uneven, effort in its own right. Based on his 1988 novella Cabal, Barker incorporates elements of fantasy, monster movies, psychological thrillers, and slashers, but at its core Nightbreed is a love story.

This is a good week to be a horror fan who collects home media, because we have some killer releases headed our way on Tuesday. Personally, I’ve been waiting ever so patiently for Scream Factory’s Collector’s Edition release of Paul W.S. Anderson’s Event Horizon, and my patience is finally going to pay off tomorrow, as not only are we getting a 4K scan of the film, but the Blu is also chock-full of special features I cannot wait to dig into. Scream Factory is also giving Julia Ducournau’s Raw a stateside Blu-ray release finally, and Arrow Video is showing some love to Patrick Picard’s The Bloodhound this week as well.
We also have two Steelbooks that will be available this Tuesday: Gattaca in 4K as well as the 40th anniversary release of Friday the 13th Part II, and if you need to play catch-up,...

If you've listened to our Corpse Club podcast, then you know that several of us here at Daily Dead are very passionate fans of Event Horizon, so we're extra thrilled that Scream Factory will release the 1997 sci-fi horror film on a Collector's Edition Blu-ray. Previously slated for a release last fall, the Event Horizon Collector's Edition Blu-ray is now coming out on March 23rd (due to efforts to find lost footage from the film), and the full list of special features indicate that it will be well worth the wait.
We have the official press release with the complete list of bonus features below. Longtime Event Horizon fans may notice that the extensive bonus features don't include the movie's lost footage, but there is still a lot of new content to look forward to, and Scream Factory discussed their efforts to find the lost footage in a post on Facebook...

Stars: Randy Quaid, Mary Beth Hurt, Sandy Dennis, Bryan Madorsky | Written by Christopher Hawthorne | Directed by Bob Balaban
“Real grown-ups don’t get upset,” reckons Michael Laemle (Bryan Madorsky), a young boy trapped in an idyllic 1950s condo with his creepily conventional parents. It’s a comment that betrays his increasingly twisted thinking. He suspects there’s something funny about his folks, and not in a ha-ha way. Mother (Mary Beth Hurt) is constantly serving up “leftover” meat, and Father (Randy Quaid) keeps giving weird lectures about the darkness of the human mind.
Father is a supervisor in a scientific research facility and his job gives him access to cadavers. Is it possible that Mom and Pop might be cannibals? Murderers, even? They have the perfect alibi: the career-man patriarch and his pie-baking wife, living in their domestic utopia, with its minimalist tan furniture and an Oldsmobile in the driveway.

A while back it was announced that Scream Factory would finally be bringing the “Cabal Cut” of Nightbreed to home video. Fans have begged for this release for a long time, so the excitement levels were high. A bit later, it was revealed that it wouldn’t actually be the Cabal Cut, but a new, director approved Director’s Cut of the film. Some were angry that it wouldn’t technically be the cut of the film that they wanted, but after a quick explanation, I was convinced that this would be superior. This is a new director’s cut of the film approved by Clive Barker. The reason the Cabal Cut isn’t what’s being released, is that basically, it’s the kitchen sink version of the film. Everything available was compiled to comprise the Cabal Cut, so the film is being whittled down, so that we still...
