Investigation Discovery (ID) has ordered two-hour special “The Lost Women of Nxivm,” looking into the organization that included a sex-trafficking cult and had ties to Hollywood.
On Wednesday, Nxivm founder Keith Raniere was convicted on racketeering, sex-trafficking and other crimes. In December, Ample Entertainment will premiere its documentary on Nxivm and Raniere.
Raniere’s sentencing is set for Sept. 25. Marc Agnifilo, Raniere’s lawyer, said he plans to appeal the conviction, the Associated Press reported.

In March 2018, Raniere was arrested in Mexico, where he fled last fall after the New York Times published a report about alleged Nxivm practices like branding women.

Investigation Discovery is to explore The Lost Women of Nxivm – a day after the leader of the sex cult, which included Smallville actress Allison Mack, was convicted in court.
The cable network is to launch the two-hour special from Cooper’s Treasure producer Ample Entertainment in December.
The show will explore what happened to four women who were members of Nxivm who either vanished or died in mysterious circumstances.
It is the latest documentary on the subject after HBO ordered a docu-series from Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated directors Jehane Noujaim and Karim Amer (The Square).

The Vanishing Women TV series, Investigation Discovery's (ID) first serialized docu-series, premieres Monday, June 6, 2016 at 10:00pm Et. In Chillicothe, Ohio, six women have gone missing or have been found dead, since May 2014. ID has teamed with law enforcement and survivors, to document the investigation as it unfolds.
