Accolade Wines app helps users locate Byo restaurants in Sydney and Melbourne
Media agency Mec has produced an app for Accolade Wines that enables smart phone users to find Byo restaurants in Sydney and Melbourne.

The announcement:

Sydney, 17 December 2012: Mec has together with Fairfax Media created a smartphone app for Accolade Wines, helping users find the best Byo restaurants and the perfect bottle of wine to accompany their meal.

The Brookland Valley Byo Restaurant Guide app, available for free on the iTunes store, taps into Fairfax Media publications’ restaurant reviews, including The Age and Sydney Morning Herald’s Good Food Guides, Cheap Eats and Everyday Eats, allowing users to search more than 300 of the best Byo restaurants in Sydney and Melbourne.

Once a user has chosen a restaurant, they can use the app’s wine index to find suitable wines from the Brookland Valley, Margaret River range, as well as a wide selection of other Australian wines, and locate their closest bottle shop.

Schwarzkopf mocks infomercials, ads created by media agency Mec
Schwarzkopf hair brand Taft has launched a campaign that mocks the cheesy approach to product promotion seen in infomercials.

The ads were created by media agency Mec, which won the account last year.

The ads are running on free-to-air TV and on Ignite Media Brands including MTV, TV1, FX and Nat Geo.

The campaign includes sponsorship of MTV’s makeover show Style Me, Facebook advertising and a microsite where visitors can win a hair piece from the mock infomercials.

Mec boss Peter Vogel said in a press release: “Taft is an exciting brand to work with and we are thrilled to have created this campaign for the Full On range. All creative and media were handled in-house at Mec, demonstrating the range of skills on offer at the agency.”

Mec becomes ‘The Real-Time Agency’, boss: “we need to stand out in a commodity industry”
Mec boss Peter Vogel

Mec has become the latest media agency in Australia to attempt to stand out from a homogenous crowd, introducing the line ‘The Real-Time Agency’.

The slogan does not replace Mec’s global ‘Active Engagement’ proposition, and the ambition “to be our clients’ most valued business partner, famous for inspiring people and exceptional results”.

Mec Australia boss Peter Vogel said in a press release: “Marketers now have to operate in ‘consumer-time’ as opposed to less responsive ‘brand-time’. Our approach enables our clients to make faster more informed decisions, more often, to get to market quicker and in more relevant ways. It’s what we call ‘real-time’ communications.”

The news come two months after Zenith Optimedia declared it was ‘The Open Agency’ in Australia. Globally, Zenith is known as ‘The Roi Agency’.

Vogel told Mumbrella: “This isn’t a positioning, this is a service offering. The differences between...
